I've only had dim sum here but it turns out their dinner menu is also very good! My favorite was the umami mushroom dish with a side of rice. Also, our waiter was very attentive. We had a birthday celebration dinner & he joined in on our surprise by sneaking in the cake on a rolling food cart haha :) it was a lot of fun.

I'm in heaven!!! Wow! My sweet banker told me to come here as this is where the locals go!!! The service was great, very welcoming!!! The dim sum was FABULOUS!!! We had potstickers, baked bbq buns, steamed bbq buns, egg rolls, fried rice. All was really good, the best place for Dim sum! It's a really nice restaurant for families too to cellulite events. Beautiful linens and great space!

Phoenix is an old standby dim sum restaurant that I've been to quite a few times over the years. The dim sum is fresh from top quality ingredients, served hot to the table and always offers a huge endless variety to choose from. Service is excellent with roomy tables overlooking the Chicago skyline. However, I was really disappointed as they did away with the traditional cart system that came around to the tables. They do give you a detailed pictured menu of all the dim sum and you order off that. The dim sum quality and taste are the same and the food is super hot when it arrives at your table. They do have a couple carts mingling around the dining room stacked with one particular dim but that's about it. No matter what you order, it's all really tasty with accompanying hoisin, soy, plum sauces and chili garlic oil. Prices and service are comparable to other dim sum places but Phoenix is still the best dim sum in Chinatown! Personal Tip: Order most of your dim sum at one time with second round afterward. They get a little confused as they use the 1 single paper ticket order and then add on to that for 2nd & 3rd rounds. Favs: Chive & Shrimp dumplings Pan fried shrimp & corn dumpling Shrimp shu mai Beef meatballs Shrimp wontons Vegetable Egg rolls Turnip Cake Sesame red bean ball

The food is usually very good whenever we come here! My entire family usually goes, so they tend to give us a private room. My favorite items are usually the roasted pork or lobster and noodles! The service was amazing last time we went - they would always come by with water or change out our plates when they looked dirty. The ambiance is pretty simple. It's like any other Chinese restaurant, but there is a lot of seating. It's located on the second floor.

The food was incredible! Known for dim sum, and next to Shabu, Shabu in Chinatown, this place has the sharing lazy Susan and the dim sum that makes it a destination.

Good dimsum in the heart of China town. I enjoy the chicken feet and pork ribs. The turnip cake is too oily

I recommend this dim sum location. I enjoyed the food and it closely resembled traditional style dim sum. They do not have the push carts and instead you select from a paper menu. The interior is very traditional so I was happy about that. The food tasted good and had a pretty wide selection. My critique is for the roast pork- it came out soggy ish and didn't seem freshly roasted. So I did not enjoy that. But if you are coming for dim sum, highly recommend!

This is a restaurant needing no introduction. I have been eating there for 30 years, before Yelp or any social media existed. Now I am back visiting Chicago, of course I went there for dim sum. Dim sum houses come and go, Phoenix stood the test of time. Old school set up, old school flavor unchanged for 25 years. The staff were very helpful and food comes within minutes. They now use a giant menu with photos for people to just use checkbox. Very practical. Dim sum here is a standard for all restaurants in Chinatown. You have to try this place !

It's been a long time since I've been to Phoenix but I remembered the food being very decent. We came to celebrate CNY. The service was okay, not the best. However, we got the sauces we needed for the different types of food we ordered. Our hot tea and water cups were always refilled. I'm not going to go through all of the dishes we ordered, but they were all good. Just an observation but I noticed that some of the Americans that gave the place 1 star, ordered the typical American dishes. Whereas the Asian reviewers ordered dishes that Americans won't ever touch. In my pictures, you won't see any orange chicken, chicken fried rice, Mongolian beef, etc. That's just a FYI, those ratings are not very accurate. If you parked in either of two big parking lots, remember to get your ticket validated at the restaurant before you leave. It should say $2. If it doesn't say that, then you did it wrong. Overall rating would be 3.5. If you order real Asian food, then you'll have a decent experience despite the service. The American food.. well.. don't expect much. You can get that at Panda Express.

January 2025:! We went here for an early dinner, had a desire to go have dim sum and soup. Party of five, we were seated pretty quickly. There is a paper menu you can fill out for dim sum and a full menu that has other items. I ordered west lake beef soup and it's tasty and refreshing. We also had quite a mix of dim sum: stuffed tofu skin, chicken feet, xiao long bao, cucumber, various dumplings, WOO! Family and I were very full at the end.

Delicious dim sum in Chinatown. They are very consistent

The last time I've been to Phoenix was 6 years ago and I've recently had the chance to come back here again and the food is just as good as I remembered. Phoenix is Probably one of the better dim sum places in Chicago's Chinatown. Food comes out hot and fresh and quick.

The food was pretty great overall! Plenty of seating and we were able to get a table right away. I was sad that there wasn't any carts rolled around but there was paper placemat/menu that you can order from. We got several things and they were all great! What really stood out was the CHAR SIU BAO because it had a pineapple bun on top that made a great combo! Was really good to have that combo and I thought it tasted great!! Other notes The turnip cake was a bit too soft and didn't have the light crunch on top that I was used to, prob not my fav. The shumai was good because it had a good amount of shrimp and meat inside and was larger than most places that I've been too! Overall, good prices, good food, and fast service!

One of the older cantonese restaurants still serving dim sum. Located in older building along Archer but not in the Chinatown plaza mall. Good: dim sum were above average in taste & size. We ordered beef balls, beef rice rolls, turnip cakes, assorted deep fried dumplings, etc. Service was friendly but a bit slow. 20% discount for dine-in if paying by cash on M-F between 10A-3P. Not so good: $2/person tea charge (no tea gratis), dining area is a bit worn and in need of remodel, w/o discount, dim sum items start at $6 & go up. I go out to eat for flavor so 4 stars (maybe 3.5), but lots of other Chinatown dim sum might be next choice.

Do they have dim sum carts on Saturday?

Yes, but limited. You can order from a menu and get items faster. However, I think the quality of the dim sum has gone down in the last 10 years. It's mediocre at best.

Be prepared to wait a little bit for a table, or share a big one with another party at peak times. Some favorites: beef cheong fun with egg, siu mai, Singapore noodle, xo rice noodle rolls, spare ribs, pork and century egg congee. All the food has been very solid. Inside is always bustling and can be a bit crowded. Service is pretty friendly as far as Chinatown goes, and very efficient. There's a guy who works there who I think is the manager or something, because he puts in 200x effort and is always hustling. When he's not around it feels like something is missing. Prices are very reasonable and we like ordering a lot here so that we have tasty leftovers for later. This place has quite a few big tables and is good for large groups. My only nits are that very occasionally a dish or teacup will have a dirty spot, and that the bubble tea here is kind of meh. I don't remember exactly which one I ordered, but it was a little watery and lacking in flavor. It's also probably tough since they're boxed in by boba places now. Pro tip: When you first get your table, they'll ask you what kind of tea you want. If you ignore them or don't know how to answer, the default is green tea. Another one is to come at off-peak times. Not only will you get a table faster, but I think they tweak their portion sizes depending on how crowded it is. Definitely will be back! And I recommend you visit too
