They have individual pots for your party, so you can each choose your own broth; tonkotsu, miso, curry, tomato, sukiyaki, go shabu spicy, and really the only items you order at the table are your drinks, broth, and meats. Everything else such as your sauce, veggies, noodles, seafood, will be at the bar buffet style. They have a wide variety of it all. As a first timer for Shabu I was glad it was Go Shabu! Very friendly staff that helped me understand how it works. The toppings were constantly being restocked with fresh toppings. You can only order 3 meats at a time, but that is plenty in my opinion. Tables seem to only house 4 spots for Shabu so if you're in a larger party expect to have separate tables. Those who follow me closely on here -- a good two or three of you *laughs* -- know that I gave up meat for the 2021 Lenten season. So when my family suggested we take my dad here, my mom asked me what I was going to eat since a hot pot is usually meat-centric. After browsing the restaurant's website, I gleefully told her not to worry since the buffet has seafood, noodles and my instant go-to favorite, kim chi. The seafood selection is pretty solid. There's your regular fish, crustaceans and mollusks. With miso for my soup base, I was having a blast with my alternative eats. The mollusks were real winners of the evening. When cooked at the right amount of time, octopus and oysters are Heaven for the tastebuds. Melt-in-your-mouth chewy goodness. The shrimp was good, but I got a bit tired with having to peel after it emerged out of the pot. I then moved on to the noodles. Egg noodles doused in miso and then slightly soaked in a hybrid puddle of soy sauce and ginger sauce was the treat I never knew existed. Some veggies were mixed in for good measure. Though the udon noodles caught my attention, I passed them up. I'll attempt to get some during my third trip here, whenever that will be. I can't believe there is finally an AYCE hot pot place in Clear Lake on this side of Houston!! It's nice not having to drive all the way to Bellaire for great hot pot. This place is a must try! They adhere to covid protocols so no worry there. Groups of people are adequately seated in different areas, masks are required, hand sanitizer when you walk in, and they require a new pair of gloves to be used during every trip to the buffet line (they are provided). As far as food goes, you pick what flavor broth you want, and get started. Don't worry about sharing if not everyone wants the same broth flavor, everyone gets their own individual hot pot here. The Go Shabu Spicy broth was my favorite. You then get to help yourself to a good selection of fresh seafood, vegetables, noodles, dumplings, different kinds of meat or seafood balls, tofu, eggs, etc. There's a condiment/sauce bar as well to add even more flavor. I like using a mixture of their chili oil/soy sauce with lots of chopped garlic and thai chilis. Then all the premium meats are served to you per order but still ayce. Beef short rib, ribeye, lamb, brisket, chicken, pork belly, etc. For $15 for lunch, and $22 for dinner this place is so worth it! Also don't forget to get their ice cream for dessert as well, it's included. They even offer beer, wine, and sake for purchase as well. Run, don't walk here! I was surprised to see a hot pot spot open up in Clear Lake, but alas! It's also all you can eat, which is a plus for hot pot lovers like me. The dinner selection, while slightly more expensive than the lunch, includes 4 additional premium meats (beef) that the lunch doesn't include. We definitely got our money's worth in ordering plenty of numbers 1-4. All of the meats are brought to your table very quickly as soon as you order them. They have 6 different soup options and top you off as you run low, so not to worry about running out of broth! The walk-up buffet will have your seafood, vegetable, dumpling, and noodle options. A good variety of each. I tried as many of the vegetables as I could, including zucchini which I hadn't seen at hot pot before. We were reluctant to do a buffet with the pandemic, but this place had all the protocols in place, enforcing masks and gloves while away from your table and at the buffet. Service was top-notch. Alisa was our server and made sure that we were well taken care of. They were short-staffed that day but Alisa was running around the place to get everyone what they needed. I loved the curry, but I thought the tomato was a bit too sweet for me. There was a large selection of veggies, noodles, and seafood to choose from. There were many meats to choose from as well. This gem of a place has you covered, and like the trending model in HTX, it's all-you-can-eat, too. Pick from several broths--pro tip, you can even ask them to mix them together. My friend half-n-halfing tried tomato and the curry broths and they compliment each other decently. Lunch you are given the option of two price points. Stick with the $16 price tag and enjoy more than half the meats (the brisket is excellent!) or pay an additional $8 to open the options up to some premium cuts (Akaushi short rib, ribeye, Angus beef strip, premium Angus chuck tender--cuts #1 through #4) Children under 10 years get to eat at less than half the cost for dinner, too! At the bar you'll find crabs, shrimp, lobster balls, fish cakes, tofu, watercress, kimchi, dumplings, mussels, clams, and a variation of noodles and other greens. With the range of sauces provided, create your own dipping concoction. I always make sesame the star. Don't forget about their complimentary self-serve ice cream. They got the classic flavors, Mango, and... wait for it... red bean--RED BEAN ICE CREAM. I was sure at some point they also had matcha, but I didn't see it yesterday. Hmm. This place is my go-to shabu place for a decent AYCE price and great quality of meat and ingredients. It's also closest to me in the area. I was super excited that they were opening this place up in the area and I was pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. Upon entering, you're immediately greeted with friendly and smiling faces. That's probably another reason I enjoy coming here so much, is for the staff. They're always so friendly and love to talk to you (in a good way!) I'm essentially a regular at this point with how often I come here and they know me. Once you're seated, you get a menu and you have choices to select from for your broth and for your meats. You can also mix your broths. I mix the tomato and the go shabu spicy. It's a plethora of sweet and spicy flavors mixed. For meats, I normally go for the brisket and the short rib. They're really fatty cuts of meat and to me adds more flavor when you slowly cook them over time in your broth. This is an all you can eat buffet, so you can always order more meats later on and just try all the different cuts of meat. After you make your orders for broth and meats, then you get to pick out your seafood, vegetables, noodles, and your own sauces to dip your meat in. A good recommendation of sauce combination that I use: Garlic sauce, chili oil, Sriracha, fresh garlic, and green onions. It is absolutely delicious when you eat it with your meat. Highly recommend this combo. If you can't decide on a good combination, the staff has recommendations handy to get you started. Once you have everything at your table, get to cooking those meats for a few seconds in your boiling broth, indulge, and enjoy! Once your meal is finished, help yourself to some ice cream to cool you down from the warm and hearty broth. Overall, this place is a gem hidden in a corner next to Aldi's. It is so worth it and I enjoy everything about this place from the staff to the food. I recommend this place to everyone I meet and see. However, we didn't complained about it since that is their rules. They gave us the bill after we finish the meal. It was around $38.9 total showing on the bill. And I paid $44.00 since I am not really enjoying this meal and service. Guess what, after couple of days, when I review my bank statements. There is a charge $50.95 posted from GO SHABU in stead of $44.00 on the receipt with my signature. Anyway, I have disputed this additional charge. I don't feel like to writing review even I have been using yelp for many years. But this is something that I can't bear and would like to remind that make sure double check your statement. The sauces were super amazing and you can make your own dipping sauce.
