I ordeeed the Veg Biriyani, the Malabar paratha, the Gobi 65, and Paneer butter masala.. The gobi dish was soggy and over salted, the vegetables in the rice was a frozen medley (peas, string beans, carrots) and the flavor was off, and the paratha was soaked in oil. We went there to celebrate the birthday of a friend during the Thanksgiving weekend. We were a party of 12. We did not have to wait too long to be seated or to get our food. We ordered a couple of appetizers, some breads, a couple of biriyanis, 7-8 entries, and 2 desserts. All dishes were quite tasty. Some dishes were a bit too creamy, but that is something you expect from all Indian restaurants. The service was good as well. Godavari specializes in South Indian cuisine and has a variety of special dishes. I was most excited to try their 70mm dosa which I had seen on social media. The dosa was almost as large as the table and could definitely feed at least hungry 3 people easily. The only thing I would say is that it is on the thicker side and not the usually thin crispy dosas you get. The chutneys didn't have much flavor and could've had a bit more spice considering the rest of the food we ordered was pretty spicy. The sambar was good. We also got the andhra mutton curry and Hyderabad dumplings biryani. Both were spicy, the good kind, and full of flavor. When we visited, the restaurant was pretty busy for a weekday lunch and it seemed like they were short staffed as it took a very long time to place our order and barely any staff were checking in on the tables. We received our drinks after the appetizers were delivered. Also the tables were not set up with plates, napkins and utensils. We had to flag a server down for them and when they were brought to the table, it was just left in a stack instead of being passed around. It was the same with asking for a water refill, the waiter left the entire jug of water at our table instead of refilling the glasses. Ordered the Paper Masala Dosa! It was 3 feet long - the wife and I managed to polish off a foot each and brought home the remaining foot. The Sambar was delicious! We were hoping to be pleasantly surprised by a local spot, but unfortunately left underwhelmed by both the food and service. Four of us came in for lunch and ordered dosas, appetizers, and entrées. Menus weren't available and we were told to use QR codes yet after waiting more than five minutes to order, we felt a bit rushed. Water glasses were never refilled, and service throughout was slow. We had to flag down staff for basics like drinks, and no one checked in to see how our meal was going. As for the food: the dosas arrived soggy, with plating that felt more casual than expected. The lamb and cauliflower appetizers were flavorful but portioned sparingly. Overall, the dishes had potential in flavor but lacked execution and presentation for the price point. Came here after a hike with two friends. It's very new and spacious. I have been to A2B multiple times but they only have vegetarian South Indian food. This place has non vegetarian options. We got the cauliflower appetizer and it's quite flavorful and tasty. The texture reminds me of fried chicken. The the fish curry and my friends lamb curry and dosa are also quite good. The only issue is the medium spice level is too high for us. I would recommend going with mild if it's your first time and up it later. The service was attentive and fast. They asked for the spice level but didn't specify the spice level applied to all dishes so we all ended up having too spicy of a meal read more

Worst service ever. They need to go back to hotel management training. The server dropped sizzling hot chicken appetizer right onto my sister's lap. Then the server smirked and said a sorry barely audible and didn't even offer tissues. My sister's finger was burned and she was in pain. She expressed her pain to another server who was a girl. Server again said quick sorry and smiled again and ran off . This girl left exactly 4 tissues on the table. The chicken was all over the floor and my sister's seat. Nobody came to clean my sister's seat nor the floor. My sister's outfit was ruined it was stained from head to toe in chicken masala. As my sister went to bathroom, I sat there five minutes calling for someone to clean the floor of chicken and the table. All our orders came except for my niece and my cousin's briyani. Briyani never came. My niece didn't eat any of the other food since she said she will get full and not have space for her briyani. I am not joking we waited 30 minutes and then flagged down that same girl server and said our briyani hasn't come. She nonchalantly said it's being prepared. They close at 10:30 pm and still no briyani after 1 hr of waiting time and now it's 10:00 pm. We flag another server and ask where is the briyani? He immediately addresses issue to the girl who doesn't care about her job. She comes and asks do you want the briyani still? My niece has not ate anything of course we want briyani we ordered one hour ago. She asks do you want to pack it ? I said again no my niece has not eaten any food. Finally we see our briyani. Now the server same girl comes and is asking my brother to pay since they are closing. She stands like a guard waiting. She is the worst waiter. Most people would make small talk to not make this awkward but not her. She keeps saying they are closing. Is it our fault that what we ordered 1 hour ago was not given to our table? No apologies and no shame. My cousin who is lawyer suggested suing them since my sister's finger was burned. I understand your a restaurant and it's busy but you need to address issues like cleaning the floor and this girl waiter is an issue. We told her our briyani has not come but she didn't care to see where it is . She needs to be trained to interact with customers. The food appetizers were 5 stars but curries all had similar taste so 3 stars . The briyani was ok but my niece said it was sour. We also had Naan, Goat Chettinadu, and Goan Chicken Curry which was more of a South Indian take on North Indian food and was excellent. Here, at Godavari, with their dark-oaken furniture, nicely lit-but-not-glistening atmosphere, comfy, soft music, ultra-kind personnel with humble, South Indian manners: I discovered an atmosphere that I recalled from decades ago with my special one. The Masal Dosa had incredible flavors, four different types, and the rice flour bread was crunchy textured --just right --with the soft, homey potatoes on the inside. It's that one meal in a week that won't give you extra pounds, or cost extra dollars--just cozy, comfort food, South Indian style. They treated all their clients kindly and with much professionalism in attitudes. Fortunately, I had the gumption to say no to the yummy-looking desserts: another variety there. We had catered food from them and had live Dosa station and inspite of telling them to make less spicy their food turned out to be extra extra spicy. All our guests were complaining. Appetizers were just fine but biryani's were awful. Ordered chicken dum biryani and chicken fry biryani, they served the same biryani with bones and without bones. There was no difference. I am a big fan of Godavari restaurant and liked it from Boston branch, then North Carolina branch and Edison branch. Princeton branch was the worst. The biryani were almost stale and when asked the server, she said it was made this morning and I went for dinner. They heated the biryani ( it was actually a fried rice) and the plates were super hot. The chicken was very dry because of over heating in the oven. Waiter said, this is a franchise location and not the same owner as Boston. VERY VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED AND HOPE THE ACTUAL OWNERS OF GODAVARI CAN LOOK INTO IT AND SAVE THEIR REPUTATION. Spotted this restaurant while in the area and, after looking at the website, had to check it out. Was not disappointed to do so, as everything we tried was delicious. Started off with the Masala Dosa, with a dosa that was cooked beautifully and a filling that was very flavorful. The four accompanying sauces were each excellent on their own as well as in various combinations on the dosa (or on the Chili Cheese Naan that was ordered on the side). The menu (accessed via a web QR link) was extensive! Almost daunting for someone not highly familiar with the cuisine names (pictures of the dishes would be a great addition to the web menu in future updates) Our server was very helpful in guiding us and we ended up ordering the Vegetable Pakoda (a dish we were familiar with, as 'pakora') and something new in the 'Chicken 777', a house specialty. The pakoda was impressively light and crispy. No heavy residual oil or mushy clumps of vegetables. The Chicken 777 ended up being the favorite of the night, very unique sautéed chicken with green chutney, chili, and spices. We ordered it 'mild' spice level and it was perfect for me--a little bit of 'slow burn', but nothing overpowering of the other flavors. Will definitely go back for a return visit for the chicken (maybe even bump it up to a 'medium' heat) as well as to try a range of other new-to-us dishes. read more

And the fried chicken appetizer was fantastically crispy and spicy. We got chicken biryani for our entree and the caramelized onions on top were perfection. MAKE SURE to ask for less spice if you can't handle it!!! They gave awesome portion sizes and it was enough to share and bring home!
