Hard to find a mediocre Indian dining experience but well, this was one. Language barrier I don't mind as long as they're civil and my poor server was nice enough. The samosa was dry and flavorless. I paid for the pair, asked one to be wrapped up and it vanished never to return. Guess they'll reheat it and sell it the next chap. Frankly that's what it tasted like - reheated leftovers. But that was money out of my pocket. The chicken tikka was leathery and without my flavor. I asked that to be wrapped up and the next server refused. So he grabbed the warm skillet handle to push it towards me as if to ensure I understood my job. He didn't burn himself. I suggested he try again. So I dustily speared the dry chicken chunks and plopped them in the cheap styrofoam container he'd throw on the table then threw the stale cold rice on top. Voila. My thanksgiving dinner the next night. Topping off the experience was the shabby bathroom. I share pics. Hallmark for me of an eatery I won't rerun to is an unclean lavatory. Should have known. Mirrored the exterior entrance. Lack of care and maintenance. Also a couple came in while i was there, sat down but then ten minutes inexplicably left. The sole positives? Place is really close to campus and an easy walk- Tried their lunch boxes and they are great for money. Had their Chicken Tikka lunch box that came with one protein gravy- one lentils-rice-naan and a apetizer. All that for very decent price and food was good too. This was one of the best lentils i have ever tried. Portions very quite decent too. Will defo return for lunch specials. We came to dine outdoors here and loved that the tent was so romantic despite the state of the world. They had music going, twinkle lights and Nassau street in the summer is always a nice ambiance to just enjoy a meal. As for the food, we were impressed with how fast the service was considering they had to run in and out of the kitchen upstairs and bring it out. We started with a delicious Samosas appetizer and I could've honestly had another plate of those and called it a night. But we decided to order a Mint special Kebab Platter as well. Popped in with friend for lunch and we were very pleasantly surprised. We both got the lunch combo (bento box) with chicken tikka masala. It was really good. This place is a little older looking inside but overall is nicely decorated and a great place to eat. my friends and i stopped by around 3pm on saturday and it was not crowded at all. the thali is a great deal at only $22.9 for all those little dishes! it had everything i love to get when i order indian food. i would definitely come back and get the same thing! my friend got the biryani which i tried. it was served so nicely in the clay pot with naan over the top! the biryani was not bad, some parts did not have a lot of flavor but my friend noted it may have helped if he mixed the entire bowl up before eating. i got another thali to go for another friend and the portions were even larger in the to go! overall great place with good food and kind staff. i will be back! read more

Chicken korma and the buttered naan were quite delicious . Everything else was kind of subpar and not so fresh tasting . If you are eating food from the mint I suggest ordering take out , doordash or eating indoors . My family and I are outdoors and between the stench of the back parking lot dumpsters , to the biting insects and most notable the outdoor tables which were placed along non flat / diagonal ground which makes it hard to sit and not spill food . Came here around 6:30PM tonight (Saturday) and enjoyed a nice dinner. Would recommend reservation, but also looks like there is outside dining. Our absolute fave was the Chicken Korma. My mango lassi was good too and not too thick like at other places. We also got the mint special (like a mixed grill) and lobster bisque. Lobster bisque was a little too salty for us, but we try to keep to low sodium so might be normal for other people. My only complaint is that it was very warm inside and just one fan circulating. Reviews are as per personal experience so people discarding other good or bad experience should be nulled out. As for the restaurant, all the four chicken momo provided was raw. The mint chutney with the samosa is bad, by the smell you could make out that it's spoilt and a restaurant to not check and send it along with the food shows how much they care about their customers. That fact that the Manager of the restaurant told me "I don't care about your review, all I want is for you to be happy" and I am still writing this review, should tell you how unfavorable an experience I just had at this place. This unfortunate as the food was good. We ordered an appetizer for the table and it came quickly, and we all ate it. Then we received one of three entrees (ordered all at the same time), but it was 35 minutes and a very contentious conversation with the staff, before the other meals were brought to the table. When I asked what took so long I was told the the entree (which was ordered from the Tandoori part of the menu) WAS ALWAYS SERVED AS AN APPETIZER and it was normal for the other orders to come separately.When I pointed out that the food that was brought was not from the appetizer portion of the menu I was told I did not know how things were done in an Indian restaurant. Quite surprised by the low Yelp ratings for The Mint considering the high ratings on delivery service apps. It was my first time ordering from The Mint since it took over the space formerly occupied by Mehek on Nassau Street in Princeton. Food was delivered hot and at the time I specified when ordering online. The onion pakoras appetizer was perfectly prepared and arrived crispy due to the extra care taken in the business packing them over a bed of lettuce. Chicken tikka masala was good, with a slight extra hint of pepper in the gravy compared to other places. The palak paneer was spiced to perfection and tasty. A family member commented it was the best preparation of this dish among restaurants in the area. Most prices are in line with other quality Indian food places in the Princeton area, but in examining the menu, I felt the $4 price tag for naan and drink prices were a bit excessive. Based on first impressions, I'd rate The Mint a 4.5, but am rounding up since I feel Yelpers have unfairly rated the place low in their first year of operation. I'll definitely be a repeat customer for The Mint again if the level of food quality and preparation holds up. read more

Food quality is pretty good, some dishes were lackluster or small for the price, but they had a nice variety of seemingly authentic cuisine (would recommend the crunchy lotus, a delicious and unique dish). Service was a little less good - felt like our table was ignored when we waited to order and we were never offered water refills. COVID protocols were not good. When we requested a table, they literally placed a new table between two other tables in a tight alleyway, eliminating any semblence of social distancing. I get that restaurants like this one are in a tough position because they have so little outdoor space, but this was an insensitive move to all the customers already seated around us. Most upsetting to me was the multiple surprises on our bill. They seated us with bottled waters, which we assumed were COVID-related; without any mention, they charged us for the bottles! Don't be fooled by the size nor the design. By far one of the best Indian restaurants I've been! We enjoyed the high level of service as well as the food. We've ordered the chicken tikka Marsala, the spinach balls in creamy sauce naan basket and few samosas. Not in many restaurants you can choose the level of spice and in this one you for sure can! In the same location as where Mehek was a year or so ago, Mint is a welcomed new addition to the growing Indian-food scene here in Princeton. Compared to its neighbor Spice Grill, Mint is a lot smaller and relatively empty when I arrived. In terms of pricing, it's about on-par with the other Indian restaurants in the area, but I do think Chennai Chimney (a little farther down on Nassau Street) still offers the best prices, especially for the lunchtime buffet. In terms of the food itself, Mint does offer pretty good quality food and a variety of options in their lunchtime buffet, but Jhopri (in Plainsboro) does offer many more options in a much bigger space. However, if you're looking for a nice meal on Nassau Street, Mint is definitely work a visit. I especially enjoyed their Biryani and their paneer makani, which were quite flavorful. It's not particularly spicy as well, which was great for some members of my party who had a lower spice tolerance. The service was very attentive and everyone was very courteous, which was definitely a plus. I really enjoyed that they brought out fresh buttery naan whenever we wanted, which was a really nice addition as it was perfectly warm and crisp. Good food but atmosphere remains a little too quiet and even marginally awkward. Not bad for an Indian place joint in downtown Princeton, but if you want the r deal, drive 20 min over to Plainsboro. EDIT re: business owner comment: A well-sourced Yelp review compares food to its peer restaurants in the area. If The Mint is unable or unwilling to compete for loyal customers and patrons on an equal footing, then that anti-competitive behavior says more about the quality of its food than anything else. read more

And not that i had a avg experience however we only ordered 2 items and thats not enough to give it a 4 or 5 star. That said, i would certainly consider eating in here if in the area. We ordered grilled pomfret on a sizzler plate for appetizer and it was delicious. perfectly spiced but still retained the true flavors of the fish. And for entree we ordered paneer bhurji (mashed cottage cheese in onion tomato semi-gravy) and that was mild and a little low on flavors but still good but the portion was huge and the garlic naan that we ordered to go with it was think and crisp as it should be. We had dinner at Mint today and were pretty disappointed. For appetizers, we had masala papad and mixed pakoras. Masala papad was okay except for surprise ingredient of Sev sprinkled on it. For the mixed pakoras, assortment didn't match the description on the menu. One potato and no paneer pakora. Onion ones had good seasoning but they were pretty doughy. Two of us ordered Thalis. One of which showed up before the appetizers due to a mix up. Not a big deal if that was the only thing that went wrong. All curries in the thali, both veg and non-veg were cold and pretty much tasteless. Chicken seemed stale and lamb was chewy. Lentil items were pretty good and so was the raita. We had also ordered butter chicken and paneer makhni which were mediocre but better than curries that came with the Thali. Masala soda I had ordered and awaited for till halfway through my meal tasted like purified water with some salt and paper sprinkled on it. I very rarely write reviews and when I do has to be because I have had a VERY bad experience or a very good one. Unfortunately, this restaurant happens to fall in the former category. Honestly, I am still unable to comprehend how this restaurant has gotten 4 star reviews- it doesn't even deserve a star. The ambience is honestly ok and cozy. But the service and food is well below average. We went on a weekend and there was only one person there to take orders, and she happened to be quite rude in general and we had to ask for the same things multiple times. The food took a while to come out, and we were served ice cold momos and once we complained about it they took them back in and heated them up. Also, we had ordered Hyderabadi Cut Mirchi which came out half cooked with part of the batter still on the inside. Also, the Hyderabadi Cut Mirchi is listed as, "batter fried slit BANANA PEPPERS topped with onion and spicy ground peanuts" on the menu. The dish we got had no banana peppers (which is why we had initially ordered it since we thought it was a unique take on the dish). My guess is that they have an extensive menu listed, but use same items for the dishes listed. As in the Hyderabadi Cut Mirchi is the same as the Veg Pakoras. Although I have no way to prove this, I am quite sure about it since what we got was more like Veg Pakoras and NOT Hyderabadi Cut Mirchi. Then we ordered, Hakka noodles, which I guess they overcooked (read as basically burnt) because of our prior complaint. But at this point we had already placed the rest of our order and were just waiting to leave the place. The entrees were also below average. The kadai paneer looked more like paneer tikka honestly (and goes back to my extensive menu but same items theory) and the paneer was actually kind of hard. The Mughlai malai kofta was ok and basically the only thing my family and I actually ate. The last thing worth noting about this place is that they automatically include gratuity (20% I believe) in your bill, which considering the service and the food quality is most definitely not worth it or well deserved. Please don't waste your money and go to this restaurant because I know I definitely won't be going back for sure. read more

My wife ordered the thali and when I told the waiter that the chicken was room temperature, he said "Oh that's because it was sitting under the light while waiting for your order". and walked away.
