When your phone breaks, the world seems bleak. I did not have high hopes for tech support when I walked up to this store. The guys who work there are seriously nice people. I would go back to fix a broken iPhone screen anytime. They can order parts for other phones, but they keep iPhone parts on hand. They are not judgmental, and in fact seemed quite sympathetic. *Disclaimer*: This review is based on what I observed when I went in for service, rather than a direct experience. I still felt it was important to document this encounter, so keep reading. I went into this place of business a short while ago, needing a second opinion on a laptop with which I'm having issues. There were two customers waiting in front of me, and what I saw made me run for the hills. The first customer had brought some iDevice in for what sounded like a basic repair. After listening to the conversation going between them and the customer, it became apparent that the company *lost* this guy's device!! He kept asking why it wasn't at the place where he brought it, and why there was no documentation that it was brought to a different store. The person he was speaking to (appeared to be / sounded like the owner, a middle-aged Asian man) had one excuse after another and was essentially blaming everything on his employees, who had looks on their faces like this was a regular occurrence. Yikes! The customer left hugely upset, and with an indication that he'd be calling the BBB...double yikes!! The next customer wanted to know why he kept being told his part was only two days away from arriving when it was supposedly ordered almost two business weeks ago. Again, a stream of excuses poured from the person I assumed was the owner. It was one pithy excuse after another, "we're very busy," "somebody already called you," "there's no tracking info on international shipments" (uh, what??), that kind of thing. The customer was infuriated that he had paid a diagnostic fee several days before and now didn't have a working machine he could use or any idea on when eBits would be finished fixing his machine. Yikes times 3!!! So, I bailed. In a serious hurry. It was unbelievable watching a business owner provide nothing but excuses to his customers, and even worse was watching him push blame onto everything except his obviously flawed business practices. I don't know where else I might go for this second opinion on my laptop but it won't be eBits, that's for sure! Enter at your own risk!!! read more

Hard drive crashed in a bad way, they were able to recover ALL data for reasonable price, and did so after encountering inaccessible/corrupt regions (they tried 3 methods, 3rd worked). Terrible customer service. They were awful at communicating. Didn't call me when my computer was ready to pick up. They told me that Apple would take 2-3 weeks but that's what they ended up taking as well. They never answered the phone when I called. They left all of the stickers that they put on my laptop so there is sticker adhesive stuck to it. Service was so frustrating. Would not recommend. read more

My hard disk failed one evening. 5 years of images lost, including my video and pictures from my wedding. Road trips, memories the works. Also lost my financial info and sensitive data as well. I also lost about a months' worth of data for a class project that I absolutely needed. After Apple referred me to two places that would have cost me my unborn child to repair, I saw this place. These guys are the real pros. Not only were they able to recover ALL my data, they threw in a free memory upgrade and sold me a pretty cheap new hard disk (at twice my old capacity), they installed it for free and cleaned my compy. In all, they cost HALF what the other guys were going to charge. And I'm sure they are more courteous than the other guys too. Jasper and company have infinite patience with their customers as I had like three appointments that I missed, but still treated me like a king. In the end I have a like-new computer and all old data recovered. Two lessons learned: 1) BACK UP EVERYTHING! 2) GO TO EBITS! You will not be disappointed. read more

I dropped my laptop off for repair last Friday (3/20) for repair. I was told that I would receive an estimate on Tuesday (3/24), but I ended up calling them on Thursday (2/26) to see what was up with my computer. And was told that I would receive an estimate on Friday (3/27). So far I it's end of day Friday (3/27) and no call. I'm more than happy to adjust the rating once they actually fix my computer. But overall the customer service is meh at best. I hope they prove me wrong on repair quality. read more

A couple years ago (almost three to be exact) I broke my Macbook Pro screen with a toss to my bed which resulted in a bounce to the hardwood floor and CRACK, broken screen :( I brought it to eBits after calling around to other shops, comparing shops and determining eBits to be the cheapest and most helpful/sympathizing over the phone. Jasper, the owner, was great and everything was fixed within a week! Everyone was so nice and helpful I vowed to sit down and write a review then. Well, life got busy and fast forward to two days ago. I brought my computer back because the glue from the Apple screen came undone and the screen basically fell off. I left my computer at noon and by that evening the technician called letting me know it was fixed, cleaned and ready to be picked up. YES!! When I arrived, Jasper warmly greeted me by name and retrieved my fixed computer. The bonus: he waved the cost of labor and parts to fix the screen! You can tell he really appreciates helping people and not charging for every little thing possible. It feels good, especially now days, to see a business owner that puts customers before profit. I was terrified when I discovered that my computer's hard drive needed to be replaced. I hadn't backed up my information anywhere, and I had already gone to a different third-party service to try to do a data backup (which failed). The previous service directed me to Drivesavers as my next option, but I was horrified to find out that they charge a MINIMUM of $700 for data recovery (the service can cost as high as $3000 in some cases). I was resigned to lose all of my precious data. Then a friend told me about Ebits. After paying $50 for a diagnostic, they told me that data recovery would cost just $200. They also discount the price of installing a new hard drive if you go through their service. All told, I payed $300 to get my computer back up and running. Throughout the process, one employee stood out for his wonderful costumer service. Dylan really went above and beyond to cater to my unique needs. He was attentive to my issues, answered every one of my incessant questions and phone calls with a patient and cheerful disposition, and was determined to help me recover as much data as possible. When they recovered my data certain parts were missing. Dylan kindly agreed to try a second and then a third attempt at data recovery free of charge. When I received my computer with the new hard drive, he patiently helped me to reload it with all of my data. I'm a super annoying customer. I probably spent 3 hours in the store trying to get help on every minute detail of restoring my computer. I called the store about 15 times over the course of this project, and Dylan (and his awesome beard) handled everything with class and an awesome attitude. Ebits found a fantastic employee in him. The only reason I rated Ebits four stars (rather than five) is because, while I did get MOST of my data back, I lost some of my valuable pictures due to corrupted data. This location is difficult to find because the business sign and storefront are boarded up. I made an appointment, but still had to wait in a line outside of about 8 people during a pandemic. When I was finally served, I told the guy my MacBook retina needed a battery replacement and was hoping to have it done while I waited. He told me this was not possible because the computer needed to have diagnostics done which would cost me $50 and take 5 business days. Most places do diagnostics for free. He also told me it was not possible to just replace the battery and rather the whole bottom case would need to be replaced and this could take as long as 4-6 weeks. He quoted this service at around $600. When I told him that Apple's website quotes a battery replacement for my specific MacBook at $200 he laughed and told me that their price does not include labor and that is only the cost of the battery. Skeptical, I told him I couldn't go 4-6 weeks without my laptop because I'm a student, and he then offered to do the diagnostics in 1 day and then replace the bottom case within the week. After this place made me feel uncomfortable by recommending an invasive service, cost 3 times higher than the Apple store, and a "negotiable" timeline, I elected to take it to the Apple store who charged me no money for diagnostics and $200 for the battery repair and will have it back to me in 3-5 business days. I do not recommend using this company as I feel they are in the business of ripping people off. read more

I used goEBITs to fix my laptop from water damage. I wanted to use them bc they are an authorized apple repair shop. They initially got some things wrong about the repair and when I went to pick it up the laptop had not been fully repaired. This was hard bc I had driven across town to pick it up with my baby in tow. To fix the problem, the shop expedited the repair, didn't charge me for the significant laptop repair and then the owner himself hand delivered the computer to my house (!!!) and apologized in person even though the shop is in cap hill, I live in ballard and he lives in Bellevue. He was so kind and thoughtful and I really appreciate their effort. I would use this store any time. Very dedicated to getting it right. I also thought they followed good COVID safety practices in their store which I appreciate it. read more

E bits is the absolute worst tech experience I've ever had. I came in to e bits with a broken screen and the worker there convinced me of another issue regarding the screen's ability to pick up on my fingers motion. The fact that I had not noticed it before made it seem to me like it was not a big issue but I figured If they are already taking off the screen and he can fix this minor problem why not. I picked up my phone 40 minutes later and it seemed completely fine. The next day my phone can't pick up on about half of my finger movements. So I went in to get it fixed again. Again my phone seems completely fine on pick up for about 30 minutes until it is even worse then before. I have been two other times to get it fixed and they cannot do it. No refund was ever issued which leave me paying 150 for someone to break my phone. read more

So my iPhone wouldn't charge. Especially odd since I had the battery replaced like 2 months ago. I didn't have Apple replace the battery though, so I thought maybe those guys in Cali gave me a bum battery. I was stuck with my back up phone which might have been from the Clinton era. I did not know about eBits, I was just dropping some stuff off at UPS and saw a little note that they fix iPhones. I went in, and the guy said he would look at it. That there was a diagnostic fee, but it would apply to the repair cost. Sounds reasonable. Turns out it wasn't the battery but the charging port. He fixed it for $60. And it was done same day. I purchased a new iphone SE about a week ago and before I could get a case, dropped it. I was devastated that, although it was still working, there were cloudy lines across the screen. I brought it into GoBITS Capitol Hill and within 24 hours I had the phone back in perfect condition. They also went the extra mile to contact Apple to see if I had warranty coverage, and I did! What a happy relief that I didn't have another expense. Very disappointed with my experience at Ebits with my MacBook. They didn't clarify what they were doing to fix a virus, and ultimately wiped my computer of all of the data and said they would have to charge me additionally to "try" to recover it. Now my computer is worse than before I brought it in: as I'm trying to reset my original settings/find old pictures and documents from emails, none of the data will save on my computer after I restart it. I have been to eBits several times in the past to resolve issues with my kids' computers and had been very happy with the level of service and quality of work. As an example: My son's Alienware gaming PC completely blacked out; multiple phone calls with Alienware were completely unhelpful and frustrating. I finally brought the PC in to eBits, where Juan correctly diagnosed the problem as a defective video card and spoke with Alienware on my behalf to get a new video card sent to us (for free), and then swapped it out. The cost was extremely reasonable. Recently, I had cause to use eBits for my own computer: A full cup of coffee spilled into my ThinkPad work computer. Juan was not available, so I dealt directly with the owner, Jesper. After dismantling the entire laptop, drying it out, and replacing 1 damaged part, the laptop was returned to me as good as new. During this anxiety-provoking period, Jesper personally kept me updated on the progress of the work. Again, for the amount of work and expertise that was required to repair this disaster, the cost was extremely reasonable. (I could see how a dishonest repair shop could easily have lied and had me buy many "damaged" parts.) I have no hesitation recommending eBits for their excellent service, competence, honesty, and very reasonable pricing. read more

I called the U Village store to see if they could get my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone fixed, and he said that the part was at the First Hill store, so I should just go there, and they could get it fixed within 2 hours of drop off. I made sure to call the First HIll Ebits store and confirm that they had the part, and could get it done that day. I live in Green Lake, so it was already a bit inconvenient to have to go to First Hill instead of U Village, but when I got there, and requested the service, after about 15 minutes of explaining the issue and giving all of my information, the guy said they didn't have the part and the soonest it would get done was in about 5 days. All in all, it was about an hour just wasted, when they easily could have just told me when I called that they did not have the part. read more

I had a really horrible, drawn-out experience with GoEBITS and I cannot stress enough that I would encourage you to look elsewhere for laptop repair. Ultimately, I paid a very high fee for "Data Recovery" and my hard-drive was returned to me empty after they had written to me that the process was "successful". When I asked for a refund for the failure to deliver the agreed upon service, I was severely aggressed upon by the store manager. The experience was incredibly upsetting and I will not be returning to the store to try to continue the process of trying to either get my money or my data because the store manager was frightening and incredibly antagonistic. If you can take your computer literally anywhere else, I would say to do that. I was dealing with them for almost a month, and at the end, I have a broken computer, no data, spent multiple hundreds of dollars and was berated by a grown man. read more

I took my white and gold iPhone 5s to get a cracked screen fixed. They assured me they could fix it and I could have my phone back in an hour. They asked me for my phone passcode (red flag) - I did not provide that. I came back an hour later to pick up my phone. The screen was "fixed," however they placed a thin, flimsy black phone screen on my white and gold phone. It looks hideous. They offered to give me a 10% discount. I declined the measly 10% discount for the option to have the correct screen put on when they "got the correct screens in." It's been two weeks, I've called and stopped by, they "still don't have white iPhone 5s screens." AND- the crappy black screen they put on my phone cracked just a few days after having it. I did not drop my phone. Now, my phone doesn't even work! Obviously, they put a cheap sub-par screen on my phone. Bottom line- this company lied to me, broke my phone, stole my money ($97), and now I'm left with a broken iPhone 5s that was brand new 6 months ago. I am beyond upset! read more

Everyone at Ebits was super friendly throughout the entire dropoff / pickup / repair process. They helped me repair a broken iPhone 4S screen in less than 2 hours! The tech was real with me about other potential issues, and they gave me a complimentary screen cover and a warranty on their service. I hope I don't need their services again, but if I do I know I'm in good hands. Warning: this is going to be a novel. A couple of months ago, my cat spilled a full glass of water onto my laptop keyboard. I naturally panicked, turned it off, turned it over, dried it off, everything "they" say you're supposed to do. I left it upside down, off for days and tried to turn it back on. It turned on, but the fan sounded super loud and the trackpad wouldn't work. I turned it off just by pressing the power button - it didn't need me to hold it down, it was so done with me. I had to travel for work, so a couple of weeks later I brought it to eBits for a $50 diag. They got back to me after a couple of days saying they needed to replace the keyboard/trackpad and would clean the water/corrosion off of the interior, including the logicboard, for $250 total ($200 at the end because they subtract the diag fee), which I agreed to. All of this was done over the phone - I recommend that the consumer request that they email the details that they just agreed to, and I also recommend that the company start emailing their customers details of the agreement. This is where things got dicey. I was told they'd have to order the keyboard so it might be a couple of weeks but he'd call me when it arrived and then he'd call later when my laptop was ready to be picked up. A couple of weeks pass and I don't hear about the keyboard's arrival, till one Sunday I get a call that my laptop is ready to be picked up. I walk to the store and see that I've been charged $500. Naturally, I'm not willing to pay double what I was quoted. I don't get to leave with my laptop, and I'm of course confused and irritated - I'm a grad student with limited money but great laptop need. A few days go by playing phone tag with the technician I originally talked to, with managers trying to tell me through the technician that I must've been confused (this did miff me a bit) or that they could take off the new keyboard but then my computer would be functionless. At one point they told me that they hadn't put the new keyboard on but they did have it in stock so they could just not put it on for me until I approved the $500 charge - but, mind you, I had seen the new keyboard installed on my laptop that Sunday and I had had to wait for them to order it, so it was never "in stock" until I visited the store. Finally I talked to the acting assistant manager who explained that they had needed to replace a part of the logicboard - something I was never told and was never asked for approval on, even though they had record of my "approval" during the couple of weeks I was waiting to hear about my keyboard - in addition to replacing the keyboard. He took off all labor-related fees so I ended up only paying for the hardware, which I do appreciate. The whole time I was trying to be very understanding - I mean, I understand that there are costs related to this technician's mistake that need to be covered by someone, but I was just not willing to take on all of those costs as the customer who was "guaranteed" to pay the quoted price. I ended up still paying almost double my original quote, so their 5-point price guarantee is definitely not a guarantee and I recommend to both sides of these transactions to get everything in writing. Especially since I was never asked for approval of the logicboard replacement. However, I still give these guys 4 stars. The technician was great and very apologetic during the whole process, despite miffing me off a bit by trying to appease me with fibs. The acting assistant manager was absolutely awesome to talk to, actually explained things, and worked with me on the pricing finally. They ended up fixing my computer, like hello that's great. I ended up getting a fixed logicboard and keyboard for, quite honestly, a price that Apple or anyone else would've gouged. The owner was even nice enough to throw in one of those phone battery packs for free, which I truly appreciate especially since it's a $30 value. All-in-all, I would absolutely take my gadgets to these guys again - but, I would demand to have everything in writing! read more

We took our laptop in recently to have it cleared up (it seemed to have a virus). They told us that it would take a few days to finish. Keeping in contact with them it ended up being two weeks later and the price went from 200$ to f*cking 400$. They had to switch out our harddrive and save some old data off of the harddrive. 400$ for a new harddrive and some data recovery is absurd. read more

I have been putting off writing a review of this store (Capitol Hill location) for quite a while, but the bad taste they left in my mouth has been lingering for weeks. I dropped off my custom PC that wasn't posting due to a RAM issue. It took literally over a month for them to complete the repair, they charged me $300 and when I got it home it would power on for around 15 minutes then shut itself down. I took it back, and in the lobby a technician came out, looked in the case, and told me that the model of power supply that I had was a "piece of crap". Okay, wish they had told me when they had the computer for over a month, but whatever. I said just fix it, and I need the computer to work well with After Effects. I waited another week and was told that no only was my power supply a piece of crap but my video card is dead? Alright, well, find a replacement. They quoted me for a $700 video card (mind you, this is a computer I paid $600 for, complete), and I told them that was not acceptable and would not pay more than $400. They told me that a card in that price range would come the following Monday. It, in fact took an additional week to come (delays are understandable due to the pandemic). When the computer was finally ready it cost over $800 for the repair. When I came to pick it up the technician again came from the back NOT WEARING A MASK, and derided my computer and told me the CPU was a bottleneck. I asked what it would cost to upgrade it, and they told me $1700 due to compatibility issues. A quick Google about my motherboard configuration and RAM told me that it would cost far, far less for an upgrade. So, over $1100 worth of repairs and a month and a half later (mind you, I use this computer for school work so it was a massive hassle to have them keep it for so long) I'm learning to do upgrades myself so I never, ever have to go back to this nasty little office above the QFC. read more

I took my computer to ebits because it was experiencing wifi connectivity issues. They said they'd charge me $49 to do a diagnostic, but then I could use that money towards repairing the computer. Seemed like a fair deal. My computer is 3 years old, so I also told them I didn't want to spend more than $150 for repair. If the cost were that high I'd rather just get a new laptop. Three days later, they called me and told me I couldn't access the internet because my hard drive was failing and I needed to act right away to keep my data from disappearing. They told me that they could install a new hard drive for $249 (price of labor + the cost of a new drive). Since that was a repair, they'd take off the $49. Since it's a fairly old laptop, they also offered to save the data off my computer for $99. HERE'S THE CATCH: Date extraction does not count as a repair, so they won't take off the $49. This means I'd spend $150 just to save the data off my laptop. I was complaining loudly about this at my Starbucks job. Turns out one of our regulars works with computers as a profession and offered to switch the hard drive for free if I provided the new one. I pulled the laptop from ebits so they couldn't get any more of my money and bought a new hardrive on the cheap at Best Buy. The regular customer switched them out. After re-installing windows, everything works fine. The way the staff at Ebits tried to pressure me into paying $150 just for data extraction was really awful. They were unfriendly and unhelpful. Excellent experience with Ebits, Jesper was up front about the likelihood of saving the life of my ancient, moribund Toshiba laptop and its precious contents, and explained all clearly and professionally. The diagnostics and salvation operations took much longer than estimated; however he charged me as initially estimated, cleaned years of crud out of the frail body, and also replaced a broken internal part for free. I have been to several tech-hospitals with other miscreant machines over the years, and always there was some arrogant, mumbo-jumbo speaking geek seemingly as intent on displaying a superior intelligence as working on my problem child. But in the meantime, they went above and beyond in trying to repair what turned out to be a bad logic board. I was able to chat with the specialist and he was able to offer up solutions to figure out what I needed to do. He called me back 3 hours later and my computer was done. situation: At dota2TI, sunday morning, phone broke, to go downtown version, they recommend Ebits. SO FAR, what was supposed to be a "few hours" turned into an overnight wait. This would not be a problem if I had time but I am here for the TI event which is only a few days... so not having my phone for a bit is pretty crucial. I left a contact number (not here alone) but they did not call me to inform me of the change. So when the estimated time came around, I called them and THEN found out that I had to wait til the next day to pick up my phone. I am currently waiting on my phone to be fixed and will be at their door asap.. depending on the outcome I will be updating the the review. my flight out of town is also in a few fours UPDATE I arrived at the store at 11 and it was not ready waited til 12 and it turns out that a wire was fried and could not be fixed so, OVERALL nice people good service is open on Sunday which is great thanks for trying Ebits read more

eBits Service was great. I would highly recommend their services to anyone. I am a small business owner and had a problem with my optical drive which was directly needed for me to use to make copies of clients session recordings as well as a few other kinks. They gave me express service replacing the optical drive and working everything out within less than 24 hours, no hassle at all as well as a much needed pc laptop to use as a loan for the night. I turned my PC on one morning to find that the OS was "not found". I don't know why or how my computer works (or doesn't) but I did know that I had stopped by E-Bits a few weeks before to ask some questions and they were very helpful. Turns out my CPU had died. Now for the good bits. They installed another CPU on loan while they took a meticulous look at what had happened and for any data that they could retrieve. This was at no extra charge and totally unexpected. The staff are all very professional and had no desire to "over tech talk" this dummy...but it is obvious that they know their stuff very well and could definitely discuss issues thoroughly to those inclined. Great experience. I dropped my iPhone and shattered the screen. I travel for work, and was only in Seattle for one day, I found them online, called and they said they could fix my phone same day. Walked in, dropped off my cracked iPhone, came back 2 hours later and my phone was like new. It was a lot cheaper than going to the apple store to get it fixed, and they fixed it in just two hours.
