The team who work here are all really friendly and nice, but it's very expensive and slow. I needed a new screen on my laptop. They told me it would take 3 days but when I called after 4 days they said they hadn't even ordered the part yet. Eventually it took 8 days, $500. They were all really lovely and the repair is just fine. 8 days is pretty slow when you're paying extra for 'overnight shipping'. read more

So I had apple schedule an appointment for me to come and get my computer fixed , I came in and we went through the whole process of the payment for the diagnostic charges, then I asked if I could get refunded on the spot because apple was able to take me in and run it for free, the front office staff was helpful and professional ... then he said he had to check in with the manager for the refund, and there isn't a wall just something thin separating the lobby from the back... I hear the manager screaming at this guy because he ruined some Face ID system for an IPhone ... and they kept arguing back and forth about how he needs to come out and give me my refund. So the manager comes out with a huge temper and huge attitude, questioning me why I'm getting my refund and asking me if I understand how old this computer is and how apple doesn't have the parts for it only they do ... anyways my goal after that was to take my money and leave , cannot believe the poor customer service they provide and think that it's acceptable . My laptop was repeatedly crashing and getting the blue screen of death. I had been to eBits before and like them - free parking and central Capital Hill location - so decided to go back and try them out. Brendan said it would take a day to diagnose and another day or two to get parts. He was able to diagnose the hard drive failure and had a replacement on hand that worked. Voila! Sketchy. I took the laptop in on Thursday because of BSOD. I knew it was a virus but I didn't have the disk to wipe the system clean and restore it, so it was either pay $100 and have my laptop working or wait around a week for the system disk to come in the mail (bought it used; disk wasn't included). I should have ordered the disk. They called me on Friday, told me I could pick it up on Sunday, and when I went in on Monday afternoon it still wasn't ready. I could have had the disk by Tuesday, the day the machine was finally ready, and for a heck of a lot less. Now here's the bad part: the tech showed me a blip in the screen that happens on startup. This is a new thing, wasn't happening when I took it in, and he said it could mean hardware damage and problems down the line. If I want them to look into it and fix it, that'll be more time and more money. I understand that when you're dealing with electronics sometimes things go wrong and they aren't your fault. I just expect a business would have some sort of system in place for dealing with problems that arise when they're expected to be, you know, fixing them. Now I'm out $100 and I still don't have a reliable machine. read more

Nice job ebits. I'm an independent contractor who uses an iphone 4 for work and when it dropped off my bike in the middle of a job and got run over by a car, I was lucky to have a functional phone that had broken glass. I finished the job and searched for screen replacement stores. I also did an amazon search and realized that it could get expensive to get a replacement glass that was similar to the original one (sturdy, did not look like an LCD and fail to touch in some places) and installed the same day. Cue to the search for cheap screen replacements that could get me back to work. Ebits came up after I had almost decided on another place in SLU. I went to the harvard store because I was already five minutes away. The store was set to close in an hour so I went in prepared to wait overnight for my phone. They also had a cheaper price (by 15 dollars) on the screen repair which had me happy off the bat. After a quick 2 minute diagnostic, they found my phone to be functional and offered to replace my screen before they closed in 45 minutes. Cue to 45 minutes later: The screen is replaced, and I was happy to have a functional phone again. But that's not all! The next day I was working and found the outward facing camera not working. I decide to head by Ebits for a quick question on the camera replacement. The manager informs me of a relatively cheap charge to replace the camera, and can have it done in less than a quarter of an hour. Boom. Ebits solved a replacement of a 100$ leased iphone 4 for less than 100$. I could have gone back to my company, shelled out another 100$ to lease another iphone but would have been out of work for two days. Ebits got me back on the road, put a quality screen on my iphone and replaced the camera quickly. I was stoked. Just a pro tip for anyone going into this place after reading my review: Call to make sure they can replace your screen. They seem to do this a lot and a customer who came in during my camera replacement needed a samsung screen replaced found out they were out of those screens and would have to wait a few days for a new one to ship. I took my iPhone to Ebits to replace a broken screen because I live near there. They replaced it in a few hours and I was set. However, afterwards, when having a conversation, the person talking to me would hear their voice echoing. I took it back and Anthony spent several hours eliminating various possibilities until he had solved the problem. Because the problem was presumably related to the original repair by a different technician, he didn't charge for his labor or the part he believed was causing the problem. Knocking off a star for having to take it back, but they didn't give me any hassle about taking responsibility for the repair and Anthony worked on it right away read more

I've had a horrible experience with this business. Their technical skills may be adequate but they certainly have zero customer service and no ability to communicate with their customers. I used them because I was visiting--I live overseas. They told me that I needed to repalce my hard drive. Okay I said. That was probably a big mistake. 1. First they did not transfer all of my data. Why they would NOT transfer all data is beyond me. 2. Then they did not automatically give me my OLD hard drive, and took no repsonsibility for this oversight. The person who helped me, told me "you should have received that." This is from the person who was suppose to give it to me. 3. Now, back overseas, the video card is acting up, and I have no black on my screen. Which means I need to find someone local to fix this. 4. Finally zero help with explaining the needs assocaited with changing out the hard drives. Know what I know now, I would NEVER use them. read more

Watch out from these guys!!!! see my story below for more details. My laptop stop charging, so I took it in for a diagnoses. I paid $49.99 thinking it was the AC/DC jack problem. Two days later they called me and said the AC jack was the problem and that I need to get it replaced. I gave them the permission to replace it for $150. Then few days later they emailed me back saying that they didn't replace the AC jack but that they just cleaned it thoroughly and it works now. They also told me the laptop's battery is completely dead and I could only use it while its plugged in to the wall, or I have to replace the battery for additional cost. I chose not to change the battery and took my laptop home. I tried charging it at home, but it did not work. So i decided to buy a new charger from amazon for $15.00 to see if the charger is the problem. surprisingly enough, it was the charger that was the problem from the start. My laptop charges fine, the battery is OK and its working like new again. To make a long story short, do not trust these people. They will tell you a problem that does not exist to make more money from you. read more

Great job by Nicolas!! They were not able to fix my laptop but they did tell me what was wrong very quickly and how long it was going to take to fix too. I'm definitely going to refer people to this place in the future just because of Nicolas. He was great, really nice, calm and very smart. He explained the procedure for my laptop and when I came to collect it a few weeks later, he helped me check out and gave me some great tips for further protection. $400 for a Wireless USB that doesn't work and I don't want. I'm so upset right. I just spent $400 dollars to get a laptop fixed that does not work. I brought the laptop in over a month ago to repair the case, replace a fan and most importantly fix the wireless. It's 2018, laptops are useless with out wifi. 3 weeks later when I speak with someone, they told me it was ready. I asked about the wireless and got "uhhhh, the antennae is connected to the case and it's probably working now. If it doesn't work bring it back in, you owe us $350 more." After I insisted that they repair the wireless,which was the main reason I brought it in, they said they would. 2 weeks later I pick up my laptop and there's a $20USB dongle which they tell me is my new wireless and they cannot reliably fix the internal wifi. I'm quite upset at this point but had to shell out the money to get my laptop with all my data on it. If you cannot fix the internal wifi reliably, why take the laptop in at all? I would never waste $400 on a case when I have to buy a new laptop now. To cap it off, the USB wireless they gave me doesn't work. They offer to install an internal one which they say they can't do reliably. I don't even know if I trust them to do that. read more

The guy behind the counter at the capitol hill location (long scraggly beard) was a certified class 1a a$$hole. I asked if he might do me the favor of unscrewing the two screws in the bottom of my iphone (literally a 10-15 second task). He looked me square in the eye and said he was too busy. What!? Who does that? If you don't unscrew screws for customers, then just say so! If you want to charge me, tell me how much it will cost, but don't make up some bull$hit excuse that you are to busy to unscrew two screws. Why was I asking? Well, my phone got dunked in the ocean yesterday and I need to clean and dry the inside. I have the special "pentalobe" screwdriver coming tomorrow, but I was hoping to get the case open today so I could clean it (since I have time) and then close the case with the screwdriver that is coming tomorrow. I took my laptop to Ebits to diagnose what is wrong with it. they told me it ll take like 3 to 4 days to diagnose it but it took them fucking almost two weeks to return a call to me and tell me what was wrong with my laptop. They told me it is a fan failure that cause some damage to the memory slots and some parts of the ram. before i took my pc to them i know it was turning on and it was charging normally. after the two week over I went to them and they told me it ll cost you $250 to fix the fan also, Jacob told me that some screws are missing from the internal side of the pc . I decided not to fix it and take back home with me because i believe that it is so much money and black Friday I can buy a brand new pc for the same price or little bit more. So I picked my pc and placed a call to HP to find out how come screws are missing because i have ordered this pc from HP directly they told me that your pc is under warranty and they had me to do some pre steps before i ship it to them to fix it. they told me to plug the charger and see if the power button is turning on and the charging button light is turning on. Nope they are off . So E bits fucked up my pc and did not put the parts in the same order as it should be from the original set up. I have called Ebits and asked to talk to their manager because when i first took my pc , it can turning on and it was charging. so i was pretty mad . They told me bring the pc to take a look at it. Today 12/10/ 2013. I just returned with my pc from Ebits. i took the PC to them Jacob open it immediately and told me the fan is working properly OMG why you guys told me it was not working and you planned to charge me 250 for that crap. he said they forget to place the memory slot back in the same spot that cause the pc not to turning on. so they tried to cheat with me. they did not even offer me to fix the pc for free or credit me . He changed the memory slot by putting it in the right spot and the pc is turned on. so those people are scammers from my point of view and i will report them to Bad business bureau BBB. Do not try to fix your PC with those people always try to contact the original manufacturer they are way cheaper than what is so called E fucking bits I am sorry I thought I have already posted my review on Yelp back in 2013- but this incident took place in 2013. I've had my phone repaired here 5 or 6 times now. They are close by but their costumer service is lacking. I feel like they may be using inferior or cheap replacement parts or (crappy screens that break easy). Before, I'd never broke a screen. After my first eBits screen, I needed a replacement every month or two. On other repairs, they failed to fix all the issues making me return three times in one day before the issue was properly delt with. On my latest visit I tried calling them several minutes before they closed with no answer. I tried to call again on my way there with still no answer. When I arrived at eBits, the person I had dropped my phone off with earlier in the day was walking out the door. I asked him if I could pick up my phone and he said no and wouldn't give it to me feeding me a BS line about the POS system. Obviously, they closed the store early. They were not open the next day either. That's the last straw. read more

Well as it happens I got my iphone fixed in the U-district in February in it worked fine for about a month. I was living out of the county so when it just stopped working a month or so later I was disappointed but couldn't get there so I bought a new one. Anyway, it is 9 months later and I wondered if they covered that, I mean what a waste, right? So I was told to bring it in after calling and that I would not be charged for them to see what was wrong with it. After I got there was told that I could buy a new screen , which wasn't broken so why would I do that? The guy working on them finally said he could look at it really quick for free in it took him about a minute for it to turn on or whatever. Then I was told that they didn't know what to charge for that and would $29 be okay . With my no that would not be okay they choose to call the manager and there was no charge. This could have been a far different review in the case of me having to pay for something that only temporarily worked, but in the end they made good even though I was not able to get it in in their 90 day period. thanks for that read more

I've broken my phone twice now in the past year (from being silly and taking the case off without replacing it with another case). First time was a cracked screen which they fixed within an hour at the Capitol Hill location-worked great after they fixed it. Second time the top screen started separating from the other layers of screen and the screen started to periodically fail to function. So a while ago I left a review about a tablet that I was never contacted about to pick up. There were some complications with their ability to fix it, so I agreed to wait for them to contact me when it was finished... and few weeks went by without any calls, messages or emails from ebits and so I went to the physical location to figure out what was going on... the person proceded to let me know the reason the tablet wasnt ready was because they had the wrong color screen replacement and wanted to know if I am ok with the wrong color or if I wanted them to prder the correct color. And I thought since there would be no price difference why not get the right color... so i was told this should take about a week and then a few days for installation. After no calls, messages or emails that my tablet was ready for pick up I attempt to call ebits since the physical location I originally dropped it off at had been closed... the person on the phone had no idea about my tablet and was not able to help me. After a lot of frustration and confusion I left a negative review warning others of my experience.... which caused the owner to respond but instead of using customer service skills and trying to arrange to fix the problem he decides to waste more of my time and basically wont stop blaming me for the situation... saying I signed an agreement and its my fault this happened and that my review is inaccurate. I would love to say I gave them another chance but I wasnt able to. I wish they would actually care about their customers instead of blaming them for their mistakes and unorginized business. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE!!! I had my cracked iPhone 5 screen replaced 2 weeks ago by eBits. They did a fast turn around and my phone looked brand new in time for my vacation. Two days ago, I switched out my case and the screen cracked again. The phone didn't even fall. The glass continued to crack down the phone. I went in to the shop today to show them and the sales clerk told me they don't warranty physical damage and that I would need to pay another $87. I told him I understand that is normally the case, but the pressure of my thumb should not crack the screen and that's unacceptable because it didn't appear the glass was the quality of the original. He said "well it looks like it was assembled correctly....sorry." Yeah, I'm sorry to eBits! That is not how customer service works. With all of the electronic devices in our household, you would have had great business from us. Not anymore and I will continue to give you a horrible review. Now I know why they give out free tempered glass after you write a review, because the screen quality is not up to par!!! read more
