Great food and service would definitely eat there again. Prices were fair and servings were hefty.

I wanted to share some feedback regarding our recent stay…read more During check-in/ check out l, I overheard front desk staff asking guests whether they were in town for a basketball tournament. It appeared that families who mentioned the tournament were charged higher rates than those who did not. This felt inconsistent and unprofessional. As a team, we booked together with the understanding that there might be some form of group coordination--even if not a discounted rate--but selectively adjusting pricing based on a guest's response was disappointing. Additionally, I had requested extra blankets and pillows in advance, which were not provided in our room upon arrival. Breakfast was average but sufficient for a busy weekend, and the pool was enjoyable for the kids, which we appreciated. However, the overall experience left us uncomfortable, particularly due to the pricing practices and the requirement for upfront payment, which is not typical in our experience. We had originally canceled our reservation at The Davenport in order to support a smaller property, but unfortunately, this stay did not meet expectations. Moving forward, our team will be choosing alternative accommodations. Thank you for your time.

Absolutely amazing food! Went today after seeing a comment…read moreon North Idaho Foodies Facebook page. Called up my wife's Grandfather, checked if he was free for lunch. We drove up, about 40 minutes from where we live. We've been to Messys across the street a few times, and Spirit Lake is my wife's favorite summer hangout spot. We had seen White Horse a few times, but never stopped in. Sat in the bar/saloon area. Were told that the kitchen was a little backed up, it would be a while before our orders were put in. No big deal, we were happy to hang out. I was very pleased the staff were Open Carry supporters, even got a "Awesome Piece!" from the young man who seated us and took our orders - I THINK his name was Tim, I could be very wrong, but he was a very helpful server. Grandpa loves his milkshakes and was sad to find out they didn't have any. Meh, not a problem. I just ran across the street and grabbed a pair for us at Messy's. Problem solved! Owner stopped by after a while with his pup, amd chatted. Love the fact the place is locally owned and operated by someone who clearly loves the place, its history, and the area! After a while, the chef himself came out, apologized that our order wasn't ready - not a big deal, came to talk shop about my leathermaking business and hang out - and told us we were next up. I ordered the Motherload and grandpa ordered the Dip. Let me tell you, that both our plates were WAY exceeding any expectations for quality you could assume! My burger - if you could call a leaning tower of meat something as prosaic and simple as a "burger" - was absolutely remarkable! The patty was made from pulled pork! Like the chef took pulled pork bbq, and hand formed a patty with it! There had to be 1/2 a POUND of brisket on it, and several HUGE pieces of bacon. I'm a BIG guy. I have a BIG appetite. And I ate HALF that burger and couldn't stuff anything else in my gullet! Grandpa said his Dip was PERFECT! Being an older gentleman, sometimes swallowing dry food isn't that easy, so he likes the dogs because he can put some sauce or au ju on it, make it easier to swallow. He ended up drinking the au ju like it was soup, said the beef in his Dip was absolutely PERFECT by itself, basically melted in his mouth. And it was a LOT of meat on his, let me tell you! Both of us took home full boxes of leftovers, which, in my case, was stolen fairly quickly by my wife and kiddo, who proceeded to absolutely DEMOLISH the remains of my too quickly departed evening snack! Now they are both bugging me to go back, which I will be all to happy to do. So if you are in the Spirit Lake area, and looking for good food, rest assured, you are in great hands! White Horse Saloon is where epic food comes to be served!

It's a bit difficult to find out how to get to the hotel with the main street driving right past without a way to turn in. The way we accessed the hotel was through the attached parking lot for the shopping strip. The pool and hot tub looked clean and like they were working, but we didn't have time to take a dip. The employees were very friendly and professional. The breakfast was disappointing because they ran out quickly and shut down early. Their eggs tasted awful in my opinion.

Everything went smoothly until the morning, when we left him in the room briefly to have breakfast. Since it was our first experience, we did not know he would react by barking continuously. About ten minutes later, the front desk attendant, Joe, came into the breakfast room to inform us that other guests had complained about the noise. I immediately left to return to the room and calm Jasper. I apologized for the situation and fully understand how disruptive barking can be. I would also be bothered if I were on the other side of the situation. My concern is not about the complaint itself, but about how the situation was handled. The attendant asked for our room number and then announced the issue loudly in front of all the guests who were having breakfast. She stated that she had received complaints, that we needed to go to the room immediately, and that the incident would be added to our record. This left us feeling embarrassed, as if we were repeat offenders, even though we stayed only one night and this was our very first hotel experience with a pet. While I sincerely apologize again for the inconvenience caused by Jasper's barking, I kindly ask that your staff be encouraged to handle sensitive situations with more discretion and care. A more private approach would have avoided unnecessary embarrassment.
