This place is rock-steady the absolute best breakfast place around! I feel so lucky to have it near my home. Their food is so delicious and they serve very generous servings of it. Their staff are so friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant itself is so cozy and charming. I treat myself to this place for breakfast 2-3 times a year, and every time I visit, they seat me quickly and give the best service and consistently great food. I always get and highly suggest Cooter's Country Eggs Benedict. It's Southern biscuits & gravy, but they throw two fried eggs and sausage patties on top of the biscuits before covering it all in gravy and add country fried potatoes on the side. Thankfully, their iced tea is brewed there (none of that awful machine iced tea!), and they serve it in a huge, oversized plastic cup. Best of all, when I was paying my bill, the food server offered to make the tea to go. She got a huge to-go cup and brought it back half-filled with iced tea. I put the rest of what I had in it and was set for the rest of the morning with delicious homemade iced tea! Wonderful service! I've actually been visiting this restaurant since I was a teenager in the early 1980s. My parents used to have breakfast here every Saturday morning. It was still called the Gold Miner Cafè even back then, but different owners, ofc. Everyone in or near Folsom should visit here at least once to see what you're missing! Service was surprisingly quick given the amount of people there. We were seated immediately, but the ambience was not great. It was very loud- tables talking and music. Worse for us since our neighboring table decided to watch something on his phone without headphones... The food looked incredible, but flavor simply wasn't there. The best thing I had was the waffle alone and the gravy. The chicken was dry- obviously fried previously and reheated for the order. The waffle had great flavor and texture. The syrup was thick and of good quality. The Sunnyside up eggs were slightly undercooked with the whites runny which left my 11-year old only having a few bites. The hashbrowns we're not crispy and not well seasoned. My over-easy eggs were cooked perfectly, but the ham steak was also shockingly unseasoned (it wasn't even salty, to my surprise). The biscuit was HUGE and looked incredible but when bitten into immediately turned to mush- it felt like eating dough. If it were cooked just a few minutes longer, it would have been the best thing we ordered. The gravy was the best flavored item. Oh, as well as their homemade raspberry jam. Delicious! Just me, adding another solo dining review to my toolbelt! It didn't start out that way. My sister was on her way to meet me in Folsom when... potty break... hit me. I tried to wait patiently in the parking lot until our entire party was present, but you know how that goes! I ran inside to use the bathroom and upon exit was so politely seated on a Tuesday morning knowing that the rest of my party was just down the road. Unfortunately my sister was delayed and I had to order on the run to make it to my next morning stop. The server and her partner were fabulous. When I mentioned I was going to split my meal with the person who didn't make it, they offered to box up half the meal to go. Amazing! I finished my meal, paid, and delivered my on the go portion with a confident flourish (the country fried steak and eggs were divine!). If I were to offer a minor suggestion, please include plasticware to customers when bagging up their food. She happily enjoyed her meal on my tailgate with chopsticks and baby wipes I had on hand (my issue, not yours!) but an included set of plastic ware would have taken my 5 star to a ten (is that even possible!?). Ohhh, my bff and I found this place on Yelp after searching for a breakfast/brunch spot in Folsom. The plan was to have breakfast and then head over to Quamaria for coffee( that's still the plan) I was reading reviews of places and this place popped up. From the pictures alone and the reviews, I knew this was a winner and I wasn't wrong. We were greeted and shown to a table, the place was packed. We took our time trying to decide what to eat and my bff got one of their mimosas. We ordered Amelia's breakfast, that came with kielbasa, country potatoes, a huge biscuit, and eggs. We also ordered a side of grits and the stuffed French toast with whipped cream and tons of fresh strawberries. The portions and the food was great. The serving of kielbasa was almost the width of the plate! The grits were so buttery and the biscuit...the biscuit was huge and fluffy. The next time I visit, I'm getting the Extreme Bloody Mary. I would be remiss if I didn't mention our server, Amber. She knew the menu front and back and gave very useful tips of what was popular as well as her personal favorites. Service was decent considering they were busy on a Sunday morning. Unfortunately, the food suffered. I ordered oatmeal and two poached eggs. Pretty simple, but the oatmeal was cold and didn't look done and the poached eggs were ice cold as well as the. I usually like to order poached eggs because I know they're gonna be hot, but these obviously sat under a warmer for quite some time. Great cafe for a hearty American brunch in Folsom! It is located at an outdoor strip mall with lots of parking. It doesn't look much from the outside but has a cute decor once you are in (think large wall clock and painted windows with an old town west view outside). We ordered freshly squeezed orange juice, hot chocolate, the country eggs Benedict and the chili Verde skillet. The orange juice was definitely freshly squeezed and delicious. The hot chocolate was good. Portions for our main dishes were huge. We were able to have a full brunch, an evening snack and a full dinner for 2 out of those two dishes. The country Benedict was yummy - good sausage, decent eggs, decent biscuit, fantastic gravy. The potatoes could have had more of a kick. The gravy was quite heavy so you couldn't eat a lot of it at once. The chili Verde skillet was excellent - it didn't come on a skillet, which means that the food was warm but didn't continue cooking and burning on a hot skillet. It had eggs, pork, veggies, all smothered in chili Verde sauce with cheese and sour cream. It came with a side of buttered bread. The whole thing was really, really, really, really good!! I do wish that they had put slightly less salt, but my husband, who adds salt to his food, loved it. It was delicious and hearty, especially with the bread! I recommend ordering this and asking them to back off on the salt a little. Pricing wise, it was reasonable. The overall menu is extensive and their service is quick. It was still dark at 6.30 when I set out to find this breakfast place in a (to me) strange town. There turns out to be no light on the outside sign, so I had an enormously difficult time finding it, despite having what turned out to be accurate directions. I wound up asking for help at the gas station which, unbeknownst to me, was directly across the side street from the restaurant. They'd never heard of it. When I finally got there, the sole waitress was in the back, but the extremely friendly local customers who were already there invited me to sit down and advised me to get a dish with gravy in it. So I got the chicken-fried steak with gravy. The gravy on top, with hunks of sausage, was pretty good, but the steak was grilled instead of fried and it just didn't work. It was tough and bland and not very edible. The scrambled eggs and grits I got with were OK, but the best thing was a well-toasted English muffin. My memories of the Gold Miner go back to early in my childhood. My father had a weakness for a greasy spoon and was fond of the old school Americana sometimes found in a local diner. My siblings and I would study the kitschy wall artifacts and test our luck sneaking in an order of hot chocolate. The Gold Miner was filled with relics of an older Folsom we never really knew, but had heard a lot about. Our waitress would greet us with a patience that sometimes rewarded our politeness with a dollop of whipped cream or a free stop at the gumball machine on the way out. Now a few decades older, I've grown up, and the Folsom I used to know has grown up too. When I make the pilgrimage back home once or twice (in a good year), I always make an effort to pay a visit to the Gold Miner -- in part for the Monte Cristo, but mostly for a glimpse back into a simpler time and a bygone Folsom that's still alive, not entombed in the walls of a museum. The local regulars still lean on the older side, and many of the familiar faces of the Sunday crowd have surely come and gone over the years. For better or worse, the carpet and chairs appear to be mostly the same, and cash is still the primary means of payment, coins jostling to come up with exact change on the bill. Even the gumball machine is still there, though the glimmer of temptation in its red paint has faded, or more likely my vision has gotten worse. For a moment, I'm a boy again having Sunday breakfast with my dad -- a meal I know I can never have again, if it were anywhere else. It's good to be home. read more

This restaurant is located as an end-cap of a basic strip mall. The area doesn't look like much from the outside. Upon approach, it gave off down home patio vibes with all of the chairs outside being used by folks. There were plenty of older generation diners mixed with some younger ones. They have an extensive menu with lots of variety to meet various dietary requirements. Not only was all of the food tasty, but the portions were plentiful. The pancakes filled the plate, the sausage was a flavorful chicken with apple, and Hannah's HALF order of French toast (2 slices cut into 4 triangles) hit the spot. We were quickly greeted and seated when we walked in the door. The cafe was busy with just two tables available. Water arrived promptly as we received the menu. I ordered Tom's (sausage links, eggs and potato choice) and a biscuit. I added with gravy on the biscuit. My friend ordered the Grace. We were both blown away with amount of food! Gold Miner Cafe is a classic diner with absolutely delicious food. The servers have always been friendly, and the food comes out pretty quickly, even when the restaurant is crowded. They have a large menu with plenty of classic breakfast items (omelets, eggs benedict, french toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee, etc). Each item has a "classic" version as well as some fancy versions. For example, you could order a plain omelet or a fancier one with lots of vegetables, avocado, and salsa. Pretty much every meal comes with a side of a biscuit with jam, hash browns, and/or potatoes. I definitely recommend trying their biscuits and potatoes. They are amazing!! The biscuit is a little dry, so the jam helps. The hash browns are just okay- they are kind of bland and oily for my preference. They give a LOT of food. It's definitely enough to split a meal between two people, or order two meals for three people. It does get very crowded, especially on weekends. Making a reservation here is definitely a good idea. Also, what a cute place! I love how this cafe is decorated with murals of Folsom's history, lots of pictures, and other old-timey things. read more

I was impressed with the many regular customers eating around 1130 am on a Friday. The place looks a bit dated but I'm ok with that. The service was excellent. My country fried steak tasted fine but the breading came off easily. The hash browns, over easy eggs, and pancakes were well prepared and very comforting.
