Bought our first Subaru today and I have to say that this was by far the easiest and most pleasant car buying experience ever! First off, our salesman Paul was exceptional! Very knowledgeable, polite and helpful! I hope he is selling cars here for a long time, because if we love our Subaru as much as he says we will, then we will want to come back and buy another car from him (and that is saying something)! Thank you Paul for making our experience great! Also, the finance lady (Karen) was very pleasant and made the process quick and smooth. As for the building that the dealership is in... Well lets just say it needs a major remodel / makeover!! Honestly, the first time I walked in, I wanted to walk out and head down the road to the Roseville Automall. Sorry guys, but appearance means a lot these days! You really almost lost a customer, and I guarantee I am not the first customer to feel the same way. Karen needs a new printer in her office!! Bought a new 2017 car in Oct of 2016. I paid cash but was told that I needed to complete a credit check anyway. I pushed back and questioned, was told that it was NOT a hard check but needed to comply with the Patriot act to identify myself and also if someone is money laundering etc. It was to be a SOFT check, not a hard check. Hard credit checks affect your credit score, soft checks do not. I completed, they submitted and the deal was done. I found out later when I checked my score that they in fact did run a hard check and it indeed did negatively affect my score. I called the credit manager (a lady) and explained. She was totally uncaring, said there was nothing they could do and wanted off the phone. I went down and talked to her in person, same attitude, she honestly not only did not want to entertain that there was something they did she just said call the credit company (Esperian). I did and was told that GR could submit a letter on their letterhead and the problem would reverse and go away. I called GR again, got a guy that works with the gal as she was on vacation. He told me the person to approve the letter was out but he will address with them and call me back. That's been months now. Bottom line is they submitted the form improperly and it damaged my score and the credit manager and others have a total uncaring ho-hum approach. There has not been one time she reached out or even hinted she gave a care. Bad Credit Manager, bad... BTW; I gave two stars as the service department has been great. Buy your car someplace else and bring to them for service if you like. read more

My husband and I just purchased a Subaru Outback from Gold Rush Subaru... what a positive experience! We went there knowing the model and color we wanted and Ray made it happened. During our test drive he pointed out the amazing features which confirmed our decision. They didn't have the model we wanted, but had it there within a few hours. My wife and I recently had a bad experience with the service department. They were not upfront about the issues that our car had. We went in for the timing belt,water pump, belts and hoses trying to do the right thing and maintain our car at the dealership which you would think is the best place to have your vehicle serviced. Soon after we had our oil changed and tires rotated at a different shop. This shop pointed out the head gasket was going out and was seeping fluid out of the motor. The problem here is Subaru did not mention this while they were in doing the the timing belt! So we had the head gasket done a couple of months later and that was a huge expense! Well apparently they don't pull the motor which is the right way to do the job. They told us the car was going to be done on Friday. We dropped it off on Tuesday. Wasn't done until the next Friday. They had it for 10 days! No communication either. Soon after the head gasket job the valves started making a loud ticking noise. They didn't do a valve adjustment which they should have done. They said the cylinder head had a hairline crack and wouldn't be covered under warranty unless we spent another $1,000 which is totally normal and all have that. What a pain. Overall a good experience here. I bought a 2016 Legacy limited with eyesight and enjoyed working with Bill an internet sales manager. He worked with me in email and got down to what I felt was a good price. Deal finished easily. I did have a better offer come in by email that would have saved me another $150 or so literally while we were doing the paper work but timing is everything so I stuck with what I had started. Only partial negative was the finance manager. I don't remember her name but she was not pleasant to deal with and acted like we had said something terrible about her grandmother when we turned down the extended warranty options. I understand it's her job to add on profit making products some customers might be interested in but please lay off the guilt trip! When someone says no thank you it would be polite to just move on and finish, not go on at length at how shocked you are that we declined. read more

After looking for a Subaru Legacy all over the state we found the best price here. About 6 weeks ago we ordered it and sent our deposit. We rented a car and drove almost 4 hours today to pick it up. It was a very unhappy experience. The salesman had given us an out the door price. After filling out all the papers, having them check our credit rating, confirming our insurance and giving them all our personal info. we were ushered to the office to pay for the car. At that point we were told that the car was almost $5,000.00 more that we were quoted. We were told that the salesman had quoted us the price for another model. If that were the case, why was the car we ordered sitting there ready for us to take home. I think since this was their mistake they should have eaten the difference as we went there in good faith believing they were honest. I would never recommend them to anyone and I hesitate even giving them one star. read more

I had my car towed to Gold Rush SUBARU after I became stranded on the highway. I was greeted by an upbeat, caring, personable, and professional Service Rep named Colin. In a very short amount of time, he had my car on a rack and gave me an idea as to what they thought was the problem. I told Colin I had to get my car transported to my mechanic in So Cali. He was very supportive and said no problem, we will keep your car here safely locked until your arrangements are made. It took me about 2-3 weeks to get things in order and Colin was so patient & kind & kept reassuring me not to worry, my car is safe and to take my time. Colin, along with some of his co-workers, was very involved in helping the driver of the transporter load up my car. Colin & his dealership knew up front that they were not going to make a dime off my car, and yet, they went above and beyond of being caring, respectful, and professional. This was the worst experience I've had in 28 years of working with auto shops across the nation. We agreed they were to use ozone, and ONLY ozone, to clean out some chemicals they'd put in our car, because it was activating my wife's asthma. But instead of using the ozone that was agreed upon, they took it upon themselves to drench our car in over-the-top amounts of chemical perfumes. I'm absolutely furious at what my wife has had to endure because of them. And our car is so saturated that we're likely going to sell it. read more

The service at Auburn Suberu is horrible. When you try to return phones messages your treated with attitudes that since you are calling you are not a customer worth helping. That's after when the car is having warrantee work done you are costing them money and should be grateful they helped you at all. We were first told our transmission was not original to the car, then when I called them on that lie they backed down, and it was 'covered'. The car is only 3years old, I found out the seals between the transmission and differential were faulty and under possible recall, then I was made to borrow a friends car to drive to work because I was told that they only covered a loaner car for 5 days and that I should wait till the parts came after a week I insisted that they give us a loaner car so I could return my friends and get to work. They gave one begrudgingly and were rude about it. When I went in to look at new cars because I was a woman I was ignored so I'm going to buy a Lexus instead I got better service there with my Toyota then I got it Subaru and from what I hear I'm not the only one read more

If you want to play the "Car Game", go to this Dealership. To begin with I had an Internet quote from another location via Edmond's, but since we had visited Gold Rush Subaru first and live in the Auburn area, thought we should give the Salesman a chance to beat or match it. They jumped at the chance, we thought this could be great to keep the purchases local and support the area. This was confirmed by email and phone with Salesman. (As you can see from Yelp most of the posts are 4-5 positive) Next(same day, 2 hours later) (30mins) Was told that we needed to come in ASAP as the car type that we wanted was not on the lot but the Dealership had to transfer it from another dealership in the area. There were 2 cars out there in the area 2hrs ago, but needed to act now as the cars maybe gone. So we came into the Dealership and waited while they verified if the 2x cars were still available :-). They did not tell us this when we got there, my wife had to ask after 15min of small talk. So once that was understood, we discussed the Internet quote and agreed to the cost of the car based on the quote we had given. Nothing had changed, all was as agreed, very good. The Salesman then said that there was the very same model/colored cars on the lot, but it was being held for someone else. He asked if we want to see it (cause we had not really seen the color up close yet) we said yes. So we took 10-15min time to see the car we wanted. Very nice, a good feeling knowing we were very close, we thought. Either car was still not confirmed when we got back inside the dealership, but up to this point it had been an enjoyable experience for the most part. Trade-in (40mins) Then the fun started with the game of "trade-in". We had brought the Kelley Blue-book printout, but that did not matter as they had their own value list. They started very low and worked up to their final number well below what it was worth. Of course this was after many trips back and forth to the Head Mgr by our Salesman, What a game! I was taken out to my car and the Salesman pointed out all the issues. We agreed that there were some cosmetic issues and some items that would need to be improved (value reduced). We were able to bring them back up to within $800 of what we thought it was forth (this was based on Blue book). After 40 mins of this, we finally settled on a price for the trade-in plus adding a crossbar in the deal to our original Internet quote and shook hands, even the Head Mgr agreed. Invoice issues (10mins) About 5-10mins after they had made the agreement, the Salesman 'discovered' that the cost needed to be increased by $200.00 due to some invoice issues the Head Mgr had found. We were told the Internet quote was a lie and we wouldn't get that price from anyone (which we did :) My wife had stepped away for a min. after the deal seemed to be finalized so was very surprised and fed up at this point with the process as was I. To be honest, it was only $200.00, BUT we had agreed on a price, now they were ready to throw away the sale and lose our trust over only $200.This left us wondering how many more items were going to be 'discovered' and how many times were we going to have to renegotiate our 'final price'. NOW PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, WE HAD NOT BEEN TOLD AT ANY TIME DURING OUR TIME AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE CAR WE WANTED WAS STILL AVAILABLE. We were Done (10mins) We had had enough. We had spent 1.5hrs Both of us were really sorry because we were told we could get the car we wanted, color and everything but we will not do business with people who will not honor their agreement after a hand shake. I could not trust them any longer and who knows what would happen when the car arrived the next day. We walked out and don't plan to come back. To Gold Rush Subaru Dealership A word to the Dealership, you need to honor your agreements! You say you do not play games but our experience would state otherwise. We would have liked to have done business with you due to location and vehicle. The Salesman was very knowledgeable about Subaru and the product, was friendly and down to earth and seemed honest and straight forward. We had looked at several reviews on your business and did not see anything bad, only good. and felt fine about visiting you. I am sorry things turned out the way they did. The next day we purchased the very same car from the quoted dealership, no issues, price as stated was the price. So this makes me wonder, what went wrong. 1) I think the main issue for us was we were expecting the Internet Sales; no hassles, fast, smooth experience, no game playing. Since this did not happen, we had little tolerance and felt we had wasted our time. 2) A deal with a Hand Shake being broken in 5-10mins, that's not honorable, that's does NOT instill trust. read more

I went to AutoWest Subaru at the Roseville Auto Mall to look at the 2014 Forrester. The salesman took his time, but was not very knowledgeable about the vehicle at all. Then we sit down to talk price and it fell apart immediately when they tried to offer me $7k less than "LOW" Blue Book for my trade-in. I left disgusted and called Stuart Snyder the next day at Gold Rush Subaru. From the moment we spoke with Stuart, we were treated very respectfully and fairly. He arranged for us to meet Walt at the dealership where I went on a comprehensive test drive and Walt was able to tell me all about the vehicle I wanted. Then I sat down with Karen in Finance and we hammered through the loan process pretty painlessly, she was great. The whole experience was wonderful. I drove my new Forrester home that night and was pleased with what I paid and what I received for my trade-in. Recently a pilot bearing broke in the transmission , which is somewhat expected after over 100K miles, they gave me a fair deal on the replacement ( and replaced the clutch as well ). All I can do is laugh at this point. I was basically punished for making all my payments on time for my lease. I've been trying to contact the sales agent (Barry) who sold me my 3 year lease for over two months. He never responded. When I finally gave up, I drove to the dealership. When I got there I was told by John to come back three days later because he was "sure" I had equity in the car but he needed someone else to process it. I changed my schedule up and drove back in 3 days later. I was then told that even though I was 2,000+ miles under my contract and the car was in GREAT condition, it was too late to get trade in value or cash reimbursement since I had made my final payment. Wow. Thanks for the notice? If it does say it somewhere in fine print from three years ago, whatever...what a horrible sales concept. Could have easily kept me as a long term customer with another new vehicle but John and Barry made it clear they didn't want my business. read more
