From start to finish, my experience with purchasing a WRX through Gold Rush was hands down one of the best. I clicked "Check Availability" on the site and received a text within minutes by a rep during off hours and being told that she would have someone get back to me in the morning when they re-opened. Bill McCoy emailed me at 7:45a to let me know he would be in the office at 9am and would confirm availability of the car. Sure enough Bill called me at 9am and confirmed availability. I asked if he would be able to hold the car since I was still working and wouldn't able to leave until 3pm and it would take me 2.5 hours to get there. He was very sincere and said he wouldn't be able to hold it, but he could only if he knew I was on my way given the distance I would be driving. We agreed that he would call me at 230p to let me know if the car was still available. I managed to end early and called Bill at 2p, and he confirmed it was available and that he would hold it. My son and I arrived at the dealership and was greeted very kindly by a lady who said that Bill would be with me in a few minutes. Bill arrived shortly and was just so friendly. He showed us the car and my son confirmed he wanted it so we went back to start the process. Bill provided explanations of the options for warranty, starlink added features, etc. and for things we didn't want, he was respectful and didn't push. He shared his own experience owning Subarus and other topics which made the time go by quickly. Even when I was signing paperwork with the finance manager it was seamless and never felt pressured. Afterwards, Bill took the time to show my son the different features. The whole experience was very friendly, genuine, no haggling and it only took just a little over an hour! The 2.5 hour drive was well worth it and the experience with my son purchasing a new car was a memorable one. I was absolutely shocked by how I was treated by the man I spoke to and would certainly never buy a car from this establishment. I went in today all ready to pay cash for a new car. I found the asking price online and then below that the cash price. I called ahead to make an appointment and went in all ready to purchase. The person I spoke to said there had "been a mistake" and went and showed my phone to the manager. It clearly listed the cash price for the individual car. The man who I spoke to came back and unapologetically handed me my phone back and said it was a mistake and there was no way the manager would honor it. So when my '06 Impreza started doing R2-D2 impressions, I figured it was time to get real about my next car. He was quick to help, didn't push me to look at any other models (as I had done my research) and allowed me to test drive the vehicle even though I showed up just before closing. I was trying to buy my 5th vehicle from Gold Rush Subaru/Chevrolet, when the Subaru sales manager in a rant told me to take my business elsewhere. I did. The Gold Rush sales staff are arrogant, condescending, and fail to keep their commitments. Being an extremely loyal customer for over a decade meant nothing to the Gold Rush Subaru sales manager. I went to AutoNation Subaru in Roseville and worked with Cody Wooten and Stu Snyder in sales. They accomplished in 10 minutes what the Gold Rush Subaru sales team was unable to accomplish in 4 days. I am an owner of a new Subaru from AutoNation Subaru in Roseville. Gold Rush not only lost a sale, but they lost a very loyal maintenance customer. I had all of the vehicles I purchased from them over more than a decade serviced at the Gold Rush dealership. No more. My new Subaru will be serviced at AutoNation Subaru in Roseville. I need to find a place to have my Chevy Silverado pickup serviced, but it won't be at Gold Rush Chevrolet in Auburn. Trust Lost... vol.II I'll give Gold Rush an honorable mention for trying to convince themselves as being the exception to the rule; however, they're just another dealership. My suspender toting salesman was not interested in my needs as a customer and did not provide me with the experience that I'd hope for. He was more concerned with his agenda and bottom line: pushing cars off the lot. To be even more specific about my customer service experience in detail, I was not given accurate information that would have saved me hundreds of dollars regarding a promotion Gold Rush puts on every fall. This lack of transparency is the source of the 1-star rating. Furthermore, the sales manager, Scott, is excruciatingly unprofessional. After my initial review of Gold Rush, he made no effort to satisfy the customer but instead made an impressive attempt to discredit me as a customer, and my review, on Yelp. Their behavior has lost yet another paying customer. As much as I'd like to keep money in my community, I'm going elsewhere. Went in for an airbag recall repair. They replaced the detonator but gave car back with airbag light still on, so the airbag won't work in an accident. When I asked the told me the technician didn't take note of the light after his work and they suggested I return for another service. In a time when these guys push any possible service on the customer I'm totally surprised they couldn't deal with the single issue that brought be into their repair center. They didn't seem to take much responsibility as the desk attendant said "the repair technician overlooked it - sorry!" Well, I'm sorry too that I don't have another half day to deal with you guys again. I bought two Subarus from Gold Rush and won't do any more business with them. read more

I would not trust this dealer. My husband and I bought our car in September 2021 and in less than 3 months time, the car was shaking and making a lot of noise. When we took the car back to them, they said that the axle rod needed to be replaced. Why would they sell a car that was not safe? We got it replaced for a big amount and ever since then, the car has been making different noises and we do not want to go back to them as we do not trust them anymore. read more

The two times I have been here for service have been terrible. I just love being told over the phone that I can come in for their Express Service and it will only take 20 minutes. Then arrive and told they are backed up and it will take 45 minutes. IT HAS BEEN 4 HOURS AND I AM STILL HERE! The last time I was here took 3.5 hours for the same simple service. This review is directed towards the auto service department. I have now had several bad experiences with them. First time was when I brought my 7 month old new Forrester in because I had a low tire. The guy tells me there is a screw in the sidewall and they can't repair it and that I would need to buy all new tires because they cannot put on just one new tire. I was so upset. I was in a hurry and had to pick up kids from school, and as the leak was slow, he put air in the tire and I left. Next day the tire was low again and I went into Les Schwab, which was closer at the time, to get more air. The guy at Les Schwab showed me that the screw was not in the sidewall and he fixed it for free!!! This is absolutely a true story and leads me to believe the guy at Goldrush is a crook. I later had to bring my Forrester to Goldrush because it used too much oil. OMG they gave me the run around. Ignored my calls, would not return calls. Were very rude to me when I went there in person. I almost was in tears by the way I was treated. Then they scheduled an appointment that seemed totally bogus. Wasted my time and said something about how they could not accurately measure the oil consumption unless I paid for an expensive sealant job or something of the sort. As good as it gets. This is a warm, welcoming place with down to earth people who really care. I especially appreciate Mike, and Jerry, who have exceptional people skills. I was going to AutoNation Subaru in Roseville until I realized how much they gouge the customer, probably to pay for their new place. So I looked around and am glad I found this place. The cost for my 90,000 mile tune up here is less than half of what I was quoted at AutoNation. Turns out here they go by the book, without trying to add extras hidden in your bill just to make a big profit. They also are an echo friendly retailer. The only suggestion I have is that there be better coverage of the phone, when the main person steps out. I heard it ring multiple times, with no one answering it, when in fact there were several staff around who could have done that. read more

I can not express how helpful and wonderful everyone was at Gold Rush. My husband and I were on the way to deal with a family emergency on a Friday afternoon, when the transmission in our Outback started to slip, causing our dash to light up like a Christmas tree. After trying AAA and getting zero help, saw that Gold Rush was about 20 miles away. We were able to get ahold of a live person who provided us with tips on ensuring we could get to the shop, and allowed us to relax in the comfortable waiting area while they looked and worked on the car. To our surprise the car was fixed and done in the time it took our backup car to arrive from Reno. We were back in route to deal with the emergency in less than 2.5 hours. I brought in my Subbie for its first oil change. It was my first time using the service here. The service guy, Michael, was great. He gave me all current discounts. The synthetic oil change was $46.95 and tire rotation was around $15. Great pricing. He even showed hubs how to set the darn time on the control panel. We had the darnedest time fiddling with that. We were provided friendly, quick, and prompt service. Plus the salesperson who sold me my Subbie remembered us and came over to greet us. He offered us hot coffee, it was a rainy cold day. His name was Paul. The waiting area has 1 tv and chairs. The women's restroom is a 1 room deal; it was clean and maintained. Overall the building and furniture is no none sense and simple. It's not glitzy nor glammie, but neither is the pricing. Gotta love the pricing... I did on my purchase and servicing. Btw- I called and made an appt for my servicing. I probably walked around the lot for a good 25 minutes without any salesman offering any assistance. So I entered the showroom hoping to get some help, that was even worse. So me and my GF opened the doors to a $40k STI and sat in it for a good 10 minutes, still no help. No one even once gave us a "well be with you shortly" or any other greeting. I finally had to call the dealership from the STI to get an answer to a simple question. Even then my call went straight to being put on hold. Avoid this dealer and maint. Shop at all cost. I had to call them every other day to get responses. They would never return my calls. The guy in charge of my vehicle sounded like he was on drugs when he actually DID get on the phone with me. The vehicle has rodknock per the maintenance tech. When I told them oh ok, we'll Subaru said that's covered because I haven't hit 100k miles I was met with a sketchy silence and after about 8 seconds I was told it was caused by "to much oil in the vehicle". Blatant lie, they just don't want to deal with the warranty repair due to the low return they get from it. I'm trying to pay to get my vehicle out of there asap and they keep running circles and not telling me what I actually owe. What an amazing experience today. I brought my daughter in for her first car and this place bent over backwards to make her dream car a reality. On my way home to Nevada City from Roseville today, as I was going uphill on 49, my car started to falter....too little gas! I pumped the pedal and made it up the hill, where I pulled off the side of the road right in front of Gold Rush Subaru. I trudged into the shop and asked for help, explaining my predicament. The fellows called their service department, and sent someone off to a gas station with their gas can, while I sat waiting. When the guy came back with the gas, the sales rep who had been helping me said "no charge for the gas," and simply asked that I write a review for them on Yelp. Yes! I really try to shop locally, but have had enough bad experiences with Gold Rush Subaru that I now go to Roseville or Sac for my Subaru needs. I had an airbag recall that needed to be done. First I was told the person that did this was only available on Saturdays. Eventually they made a midweek appt. I dropped off the car the night before and when I called about 4:30 to pick up the car, was told "sorry, we couldn't get it done today". They left me a second day without my car. There should be no surprises with an air bag recall and no reason it can't be completed in one day. Plus, they never called to say it wouldn't be done, just waited for me to come pick it up. A month later I needed to order some parts. The parts person DID NOT inspire confidence. The parts came in and when I called reception and asked what time the parts department opened, I was told 7:30 am. I went by on my way to work at 7:40 am and when I arrived was told, service is open at 7:30, but parts doesn't open til 8. Really??? The receptionist doesn't know what time the parts department opens? These are just the latest problems I've had dealing with Gold Rush Subaru. I stopped using them for 2-3 years after prior problems, and I'm sure I won't go back for another few years. read more

I called Gerry before visiting and went over some basic numbers on cost, etc. Based on every previous car buying experience, I went in there ready for battle expecting numbers to not be remotely close. (Though I certainly expected to be a little more than what was discussed over phone). Remarkably when it came time to do the contract, the numbers Gerry gave me over the phone were actually slightly higher so we ended up paying a little less. While price was important, we were both impressed by the overall professionalism of Gerry and the entire staff. I highly recommend Gerry and Gold Rush Subaru. Imagine this, buying a new car can be a relaxing and pleasant experience. My wife and I had leased a 2012 Subaru Legacy. A wonderful car that I was planning to purchase when the lease ended. We stopped at Gold Rush Subaru with a minor service question, which they took care of right away. While there we asked one of the salesmen, Roy Belfance, if he would show us a new Outback. He answered all of our questions, took us out for a test drive and reviewed our situation with the lease ending on our Legacy. Roy explained to us how with the equity we had built up in our old lease, we could move to a 2016 Subaru for a very good price. I had done some research and knew what our 2012 Legacy was worth. Roy worked with the sales manager, Jim Sturgis, and they gave us a fantastic deal on leasing a new 2016 Legacy. There was no pressure, no haggling, they just gave us a very honest and good price. To get the exact car we wanted they had to pick it up from another Subaru dealer in Redding. The next day it was detailed and ready for us to drive home. Covid 19 at a high. Went in for service on Wed. No one wearing gloves, masks, no sanitizers, wipes or disinfectants. They hand you the same infected pen they use. Your door handles, steering wheel and keys get the same. Several people in a 10' x 10' waiting room. Parts counter in the back of the waiting room getting lots of traffic. Service poor. AKA. Had a good experience with the purchase dealing with Paul Lanza. Good discount and relatively quick process. Would give the purchase 5 stars. 2 months later I had a problem with the power lift gate not opening. Didn't matter if i pressed the inside button, the key fob or the lift gate button. It would just beep 3 times and not budge. I found the Subaru service bulletin (MC-10163005-9999.pdf) I printed it out and went to the dealer. When I got there the service tech pressed the release button and sure enough it popped open about 3 inches. He told me that I must have set the height adjustment wrong. I showed him the service bulletin and he said he hadn't seen any such bulletin and that I just needed to learn how to push the button! On top of that the kid behind the service desk said that my car should have come with an owners manual that I should read ! I'm 64 and have done enough of my own auto repair (and owned enough Subarus) that I found their attitude extremely condescending. I held my temper and left. About 2 weeks later when it happened again, I took the car to the Roseville Subaru dealership where they replaced the defective unit. It has worked fine since then. read more
