I was informed by my local water dept. that I had an unusual, extremely high water use. They said it was most probable I had a water leak somewhere. I had more than one company out to assess what the problem might be. When I called Gold Star, Lisa was very friendly and professional. Oscar was sent out the next day to see what was going on. After two other estimates who insisted they needed to break open the ceramic tile floor on my entry level to get to a pipe down at the foundation, I was beside myself! Not telling any of this to Oscar, I let him assess the situation. He honed in on the same area, but instead of busting open my ceramic floor and going down to the foundation, he said a better way would be to re-route the pipe which would require only minimal damage to a small area of sheetrock in my garage. OMG, you can imagine how happy I was to hear this approach to the problem. Got a price and set a date for the repair. In the meantime, the water that had leaked into my garage dried up because Oscar shut the boiler off (it was summer time). Between the time I set the date for the repair and the actual repair, I called the water co. back to make sure the meter was not moving with the boiler off. It was still going a mile a minute!! When I got a phone call to confirm the day of work, I explained my uneasy dilemma. When Oscar got here, I told him I couldn't have any work done unless I was 100% sure it would solve my problem and my meter would not be running if I was not using water. I needed to see a still meter! Escorting him around everyplace in my home that has water, Oscar discovered problem #2. After shutting the water to this area, Voila', the meter was still!! The work progressed in a very professional manner, very neat and almost no damage to my home except what I had already know, a small section of sheetrock in my garage. From something I thought was a catastrophe, to something that wound up being an inconvenience is going from a mountain to a molehill. Goldstar, starting with Lisa, to the people to called to confirm my appointment, to Oscar Valle, I am so happy with Gold Star Plumbing. Everything about this company shouts, THE CUSTOMER FIRST! That is an old-fashioned motto in today's world. What a pleasant outlook on doing business this company has. I would use them again without hesitation. I also recommend them highly. Get other estimates, that's the smart thing to do. But rest assured, Gold Star isn't in it to do the job the most expensive, tear up your home, way. Let me begin by saying this is the full story of my TERRIBLE experience with this company.. Please take the time to read it in its entirety before dealing with this most unethical potentially illegal sales process.. If I could give a ZERO I would have.. Spoke with a women who gave me her name as Gay... She told me that there was a service fee of $39.00 which I agreed to and Sent a repair man (Lucas) to my home who at 1st seemed genuine.. Lucas also made me aware of a service fee but stated it was $69.00 which was $30.00 more than Gay quoted but I also agreed to that as I really needed this repair.. I explained the problem with the system not regulating the heat on the 1st level of the house and he said he would take a look.. Once in the boiler room, maybe 5-10 minutes, he said he needed to do a "deep diagnostic" because he couldn't find the problem and asked me to agree to an additional fee of $421 but if I paid cash he would save me the tax. Also said that once the problem was found he would offer me some packages of repair! At this point I became concerned with this sales tactic and began to ask some questions.. In the end he was trying to get me to purchase repairs to my system at prices ranging from $1800 to $300 dollars.. Why would I want to purchase a package? I think that one would diagnose a problem than offer a dollar amount for repair including parts and labor? Maybe I'm wrong but this seemed pretty logical to me.. I paid the service fee of $69.00 and told him we couldn't continue on.. I called the main line back spoke to Gay she heard my concerns transferred me to a supervisor Lisa who told me that's how they do business and depending on my "economic situation" is how they base their repairs and packages!!! What?? that sounds very unethical I replied.. She said she would note the system of my concerns and that's all she would do.. I told her that this was not a way to do business and being in the customer service business myself, I would never treat customers this way.. We hung up and within 3 minutes my phone rang and it was Lisa the supervisor again, saying they would refund my $69.00..we hung up once again.. I Wasn't looking for the $69.00 as I agreed to pay that service, even though I was originally quoted $39 as I think it was fair.. What I ultimately wanted was my boiler fixed at a fair price agreed by both parties.. Needless to say I never received that refund.. Be very careful with these unethical sales tactics... I believe most people have no idea how yelp actually works. As an individual your review is only considered of value if you participate on a very regular basis. Taking the time to write a single review once a year constitutes you as worthless in the eyes of Yelp. Yelp considers itself a social web site and it appears to have some kind of a pecking order. The more reviews you post the more power you have. It's not uncommon to see reviewers with 600 or more posts. These ego maniacs and apparently there quite a few can make or break a business. What has to happen in order to make Yelp trustworthy is a revolution by its customer base. If the revenue stream stops on Yelp it will have to change. All businesses must stop paying advertising fees immediately. And demand that yelp offers full transparency on how it does its business. Businesses must be allowed to respond in writing to negative reviews as it is quite clear many of these are generated falsely. To guarantee the validity of any review it can no longer be left anonymous. All reviewers must be confirmed just like Greg's list is attempting to do. It is not Yelp's responsibility unless requested to be involved in any of the reviews. Best thing yet to be for Yelp to disappear as it is clear it is corrupt on every single level. read more

I have a 2-year-old Pioneer Mini-Split which has been functioning fine yet a few days ago I noticed a few drops of water dripping. Gold Star sent a technician the next day, very professional and prompt. James and his partner checked out the system and found that it was cooling fine. Also, they checked the drip pan and that was draining well. James said that it may have been auto on heat but on a low setting. The $179 charge for the visit was fair and that would be taken off if I have Gold Star service the unit. I wanted a maintenance cleaning and checkup done to start the season. Unfortunately, I could not afford the incredibly expensive $876 + Tax for the job or the optional $4400 price for the hose replacement that they said was on recall, and I just paid the $179. I did want to give the 4 stars for the technician. read more

My experience with Gold Star Plumbing was nothing short of exceptional!! I had an extremely difficult situation that 5 other Plumbing Companies were unable to solve. Jose and Luis worked tenaciously to diagnose and effectively repair a serious underground cracked waste line. They (Jose and Luis) along with Derlin and Oscar were prompt, knowledgeable, professional, kind, neat and an absolute pleasure to work with. They were courteous, neat and very competent on installing our new ductless air conditioning systems. OMG!!! I am so appreciative to Gold Star Plumbing. Firstly, when I called...Lisa was so friendly and professional. I thought I'd have to wait all day for some one to come, but she scheduled Oscar to take care of us early in the afternoon. He was so nice and put us at ease. Had a pipe leaking into the basement from behind the kitchen/bathroom wall on main floor. Spoke to Lisa at Gold Star Plumbing, she was pleasant and very helpful setting up an appointment for next day. Next day Jose arrived on schedule. He was courteous and knowledgeable. After discussing payment options, he had to cut an opening behind the lower part of the kitchen sink. That exposed the pinhole leak in the pipe. Replaced bad section of pipe and was done in two hours. Would recommend Gold Star and especially Jose. read more

Received a call back from Matt after only waiting about 25 mins. It was already 10pm and he consented to come by and check my burner, which had stopped working while we had been on an out of state trip. He was very kind and considerate, but without a major part the burner could not be fixed at that moment.
