We haven't eaten at Golden Chick for a couple of months. This was our forst visit to the location on Trinity Boulevard. Outside of the resturant was very clean. The dining room had some small trash items under the tables but overall it wasn't bad. We ordered one 1 piece meal (breast) with two sides $6.99 and one 2 piece meal with two sides $9.99. The sides were reasonable servings except for the mashed potatoes which was a small scoop. The breasts were much smaller than we were getting at the Airport Freeway location. The flavor was good but nothing was really hot. We did get a 10% Senior discount simply by asking. Music was reasonable selection and not too loud. Employees were courteous and efficient. The soft serve ice cream machine was disassembled so no free dessert. Overall, just an average experience. read more

Visiting from Washington state. I entered the local Golden Chick here in Saginaw, Fort Worth, Texas and ordered 15 piece all dark (legs and thighs), just chicken. The cashier was pleasant and patient with me. After all was said and done, she stated the total comes to $42 and change. WHAT?? When did chickens become an endangered species? Oh yes, l know now, your company name has the word "Gold" in it. One would have to cash in one's gold bars (not that I have any) in order to purchase your chicken. Needless to say, I had to politely decline and left the premises. We found a nearby Albertson's where 16 pieces (just chicken) cost about $22.00. Review on drive through and the fried chicken. I didn't get a chance to go inside. Super fast drive through. They do not waste time here. I ordered a family meal and everything came out perfectly, in six minutes or less. The drive through speaker was easy to understand and the menu was easy to read. Heck even the people who handed me my food were nice to me. The lady who handed me my chicken even called me "honey" and wanted to know if I wanted extra napkins. To me that is extra bonus customer service. All in all a pretty speedy chicken place. As for the food its fried chicken that you can't go wrong with. Its crunchy and tasty, not a dry piece of chicken to be found. The sides of mac and cheese plus the green beans went together with our meal. The hot yeast roll from here is pretty amazing, but the rest of the food that I had was just ok. I drove past the first time, and I'm glad I saw David M.'s review so that I knew this location is attached to a gas station. They still have a drive-thru, so you can be lazy and not have to get out of your car. I ended up with the Combo #1 (4 Chicken Tenders, Side of Fried Okra, Hot Yeast Roll, Country Gravy, Drink, $6.99), and it took a little over 5 minutes to place my order and receive by food. As I mentioned earlier, the roll was the BEST part of the meal- it had a wonderful buttery taste, and was soft and fluffy. The chicken tenders were just ok- the crispy parts on the outside were the best, and it went well with the country gravy (although I wish this was seasoned a bit better). The fried okra wasn't crispy enough and kind of bland, but I liked the Lotta Zing spicy seasoning I got on the side. I'm bummed I didn't see the corn nuggets, since those sound really good, so may have to stop by again to give those a try and get my complimentary soft serve (this probably requires actually getting out of the car though..). I've had their tenders catered before and loved them. This is my first time going into a store. The TV playing has obvious screen damage, so that wasn't a great first impression. I ordered the tender sandwich, which looked incredibly beat-up when I unrolled its paper wrapping. Two strikes for aesthetics, but only pleasant surprises after that. The sandwich is actually in a biscuit, not a bun (it looks like a bun but is clearly biscuit dough!), and it has a buttery honey-mustard sauce in there. Very tasty and incredibly filling! The biscuit/bun was a little doughey, but was cooked enough to not be considered raw or undercooked (so just not quite enough for my tastes). My 4 stars are based on a "fast food" level, not to be confused with "fine dining". Friendly service at counter. Orders are super quick, and accurate. Food is hot and fresh at lunch (2x), nothing greasy, old. Place is usually clean, or being cleaned. Obviously well managed. Once I got over that trashy aspect, I ordered a chicken strip meal: 4 strips, choice of side (plenty to choose from but you have to ask what they are...I chose mashed potatoes), fountain drink, and a "hot yeast roll." Something about "hot yeast" doesn't jive with me but I digress. The food was surprisingly better than I expected. I would say it's a step up from Church's/Popeyes for sure. I'm giving a 1 star, because it want allow a no star for the ratings! This is the worst place ever to go buy chicken, especiallythrough the drive through . I went today Nov 27, 2020, around 6 or 6:15 pm, the gentleman that took my order, had just came from outside smoking. He took my order and never came to the widow to even acknowledge me and let me know that it would be a while before my order would be ready. By this time several cars that were behind me had began to drive away. Around 20 minutes later the gentleman came to the window. I asked him what's going on, he stated "we busy" I then said where is the customer service, at least you could have acknowledged me and let me know why I had to wait so long, I asked if my food was ready he said yes $8.81 and snatched my $20.00 from my hand, after that fiasco I told him I didn't want anything from this place and snatched my money from his hand. This is the second time that this has happened to my husband first and now me. Maybe it's where the chicken place is located and the demographics it serves, the employees think they have a right to be rude and disrespectful. Let's get this clear you need us, we don't need you! The employees at this establishment seems as if they are trying to sabotage the company so it will shut down. I or my husband will NEVER patronize this establishment again.
