I tried their cheesesteak sandwich combo with seasoned fries and a can of Diet Coke. While I liked the general flavor of the sandwich, I wish they would have put more meat and toppings on it. The fries tasted like they were cooked in peanut oil and they were specially seasoned. They were a bit on the salty side, but otherwise they were good. The combo cost around $10 plus some change. Seems a bit expensive for what I got since my drink was from a can. Service was good, they greeted me as soon as I walked up to the counter to take my order. The guy was quick, but friendly. I didn't have to wait too long for my food, which was good because I was hungry. As for ambiance, it's a small hole in the wall type of place. It was clean for the most part. It had bar seating with only three stools. There were a couple of short chairs next to a high bar on the opposite side. They have outdoor seating, but it's only one table with four chairs. There's a big bulletin board sort of cluttered with business cards on the wall and they were playing very eclectic music ranging from 80's, 90's, country, grunge, to some of today's music. Ok. Been debating how to rate this since had severe mixed emotions... So let's start with the good (ordered 3 days ago). The good about this is the price. $10 got me a decent sized burrito, fries, and a can of soda. Especially in '22, this is an exceptional price.. the fries were pretty good and they have pineapple Fanta which is amazing lol. The burrito had beans, meat, and a few other things and it was def filling. The meat had a decent flavor and the fries are seasoned. The spicy salsa also had a nice kick to it, but it was very thick, so 1 container just isn't enough when like me, you like spicy food and love salsa lol Now for the bad... Apparently they make burritos ahead of time (without sour cream of course) and keep them in a heat cabinet. This wasn't too bad since I got there just after they opened, so was still pretty fresh, but curious how long they sit there throughout the day before being tossed and replaced. My other complaint was the aluminum foil used to wrap the burrito. It was very flimsy and getting it all unwrapped was kinda a pain (even tortillas being grilled like that, tend to gave a sticky consistency after sitting for any period of time. There used to be an older gentleman that cooked and a very vibrant young lady at the register and the food was better and she, despite the early morning hour was very pleasant and made my day at times. The person they have cooking now is disrespectful; I've attempted to give him grace in the past asking how his morning was and he'd pull himself together but this morning he clearly didn't care that he was in a work environment and I was spending my money and met my valid question with clear irritation and a I don't give a $&@! attitude. So I called yesterday to make sure they were going to be open until 3 and that they had green sauce. The man said he was out but would have it in the morning. I showed up at 830 only to be told he was making it and when I told him I drove 30 miles over there, he started walking away from me and said that he guessed I should have called first. The venue itself is not particularly impressive, but it is definitely a must-try. Gyro & Burrito House is attached to a gas station (similar to most Golden Chick restaurants I've seen) and it is the restaurant equivalent of an efficiency apartment. The inside is very tiny, and they do make excellent use of the space they have, but it does result in a less-than-comfortable experience for customers. There is precious little seating space, so most customers get their food to-go. As I waited for my order, I was standing directly inside of the doors, so of course I was in the way for anyone else wanting to come in. I'd never had a gyro like this before, and I was not expecting it. I enjoyed it very much, but the entire reaction spectrum is fair game when having it for the first time. I think of it was a hamburger + taco in gyro clothing. Yes, at its core it is a gyro. Now add hamburger fixings: lettuce, tomato (and not the big chunks like you typically get with a gyro), and pickles (that one really surprised me). There's also a lot of cilantro, hence the taco part. They normally come with raw onions, but I had mine grilled (and they were good). There is cucumber sauce, but it is much less than you'd find on a "normal" gyro, and the flavor is different (much milder, I thought). It was very unique, and everyone who isn't stuck in a "comfort zone" rut should give it a try. Remember, you heard the term here first -- "the restaurant equivalent of an efficiency apartment." The short time I was waiting for my food, the guy told me I could get any drink I want. I then asked, "It comes with it?" He said, "Yup!" And while I was waiting, I contemplated how to really say "gyro". The workers and even some customers were saying Gye-Roh. I don't want to be picky, but it's actually "Yeer-roh". Anyway, that kept me company for the 5 minutes I was waiting for my food. I opened the box and I was amazed at the amount of food. There was a salad, hummus, pita bread, rice and the gyro meat. All for under like 10 bucks. The gyro was thinly sliced and has a nice crisp to it. Used to the thicker slices, but this was pretty good. Nice flavor, tender and lots of it. The rice, it was a bit dry, but it went with the meal in some way. The hummus was salty. The pita bread did help out a little, but still salty. The salad was okay. Nice break to the savory flavors perhaps? Their white sauce was also salty. But it all goes together. Great place for lunch. Went here after reading all the rave reviews. The first time I went they were closed, the hours on Yelp are incorrect, their actual hours are 6-3 M-F, 7-2 Sat, Closed Sun. Next time i went I got the Gyros Salad. The meat they serve is NOT Gyros. It is wafer thin, pre molded, strips of "meat", that I would guess they buy frozen by the pallet load. This "meat" they then warm up on the breakfast grill. It was greasy and tasted nasty. I have eaten hundreds of Gyros over the years, and this pseudo meat was by far the worst I have ever had anywhere. No round stack of meat being roasted and carved off a rotary gas grill here! The rest of the salad was about the same quality as the meat. I will never eat here again, it was that bad. Maybe their breakfast fare is better, but I cant give my money to a place that serves that kind of "meat" and dares to call it Gyro. Yuck! read more
