Ordered some wings and fries with 2 half and half's. The meat on the wings were super dark, I didn't eat it. It looked like they refried the chicken. I drank the first half and half no problem and I saved the second one for the next day which is today. Pros: Good Menu Choices. Very tasty and flavorful Wonton Soup. All white Meat Chicken used. Very friendly staff. Cons: Nothing special. Food lacked flavor Forgotten items in our order. Doing a review of Chinese Restaurants is challenging, they all are pretty much the same, just which one does it a little better to keep you coming back. Golden China is no different, very middle of the road food meaning, not bad, not great just the same as everyone else. I ordered The Beef in Garlic Sauce combination which was good, plenty of vegetables, little corns, green pepper, mushroom, carrots, onions and broccoli but lacked flavor and was supposed to come with an Egg Roll & Fried rice but neither made it into our order. My wife ordered The Chicken Curry, extra spicy which I thought was better than my dish, very flavorful. Also came with vegatable. We also ordered Fried Wontons which were also just ok, they were more steamed than fried. The one thing that set them just a tad above the rest is thier Wonton soup. Food reheated and possibly even old from days ago. Order some wings I believe were general tso's and it was ready in 5 minutes which is a red flag. It tasted like straight cardboard, it's the best way I can describe it. I couldn't even eat more than one piece. I tried to just in case it was just one piece but no, it was all. This place is pretty hit or miss, I think the food is good when it's fresh. I haven't tried anything other than the wings both whole wings and the flavored wings so I can speak on other menu items. This evening i decided to order some food from this place and called to let them know of the service and to give them feedback about the order. We received our order almost an hour later. We ordered the 8 piece dumplings and only received 6 which i let them know. After telling them about the hair in the lo mein he said the only way to fix that was to "exchange it" but we threw it away since there was a hair so how were we supposed to "exchange it". When i told them we mainly called to give them feedback they just hung up on me. Like the other 1 star review below me they're RUDE on the phone so be aware when you call. Good portion for the lo mein, not too greasy, but nothing stand out either. Egg rolls were too celery tasting for me but I'm not a celery fan so I think I'm more sensitive to it. I'm a Washingtonian and pretty picky about a good Chinese resident although I don't frequent as much anymore. My go to is no longer in my neighborhood so I've tried a few others. The last one was nasty and food was overcooked and hard. Today is my eat horrid weekend and my taste buds want subs... I ordered a sub which was cooked perfectly and fries with Mumbo sauce. They fries were perfect - not fried too hard. Today I decided to get the same thing and when he gave me the total which he hand calculated because the systems were down Hey, wasup quoted me a different price from yesterday. When I explained this to him he said it was possibly the extra mayo and I left it alone. He was very nice over the phone and the lady taking yesterday's order was too. I posted the same comment three years ago and nothing has changed.. ordered 6 wings with fries, half of cheeseburger sub and Hunan shrimp with no green peppers (who puts green peppers in Hunan). Chicken wings with fries were good.. cheeseburger sub was salty as shit and the cheese wasn't melted on the burger (same with the steak and cheese sub).. as far as the Hunan shrimp.. not spicy at all.. so I called Golden China to complain and the guy I spoke with told me that I could come back and pick up some extra spices to make my dish spicy!! Do you like spicy Szechuan food? If so, do NOT order from here! The Szechuan pork was made completely without any heat, even after asking for it to be extra hot. In fact, I have ordered from here three times, hoping it was just a fluke but, instead, being consistently disappointed in the level of heat in any of their dishes. And when I asked for extra heat and extra sauce on my cold noodle appetizer? Completely ignored! The French fries in the chicken wing special were soggy. It probably has something to do with packaging them in a plastic container that steams them during the trip. The food here is worthless drek! When I called to complain, the imbecile would not give me any satisfaction unless I brought the food back, which is impossible since we don't drive! It was a cold and rainy Thursday so we decided to order Chinese to the office. We called at 1220 and the food took over an hour, arriving at 1330. On top of that, the order was wrong. When I called Chen back to try to correct it he immediately lost his temper and berated me, refusing to make amends. As if that wasn't enough, he hung up the phone. With that they would give you an additional wing per each small one. Monday they gave all unusually small wings. I called and complained. The manager said that the received only small wings from whoever their wholesale person,and that he would give me a credit for the wings. I go there today and my credit was only for 1 wing! Golden China is the bomb. I've been getting my chinese food here for the past 10+ years and now that I've moved out of state I still stop back in when I'm around. Some things have changed since the good old days. The egg, steak and cheese has been removed from the menu - leaving only the steak and cheese. not that thats bad actually the steak and cheese is quite delicious. my gf prefers it over the one that we got at Tony Luke's in Philly. But back to the missing egg - its just you know, i miss adding that extra bit of yum in there with the fried egg. Chicken wings are the bomb. It is my normal order. Big ass wings served with Mambo sauce. Good mambo sauce, large servings of fries. Delicious. Fried jumbo shrimp - well not as jumbo as Cook St. Restaurant in Brooklyn but decent sized. I ordered the chicken wings, and beef chow fun for a late dinner and I was not disappointed. The wings were crispy and juicy, and came with mumbo sauce, the beef chow fun was hot and delicious. If my parents did not have anything to cook and we were hungry, then we would call the place up and our food is usually done in 15-20 minutes. Their fried chicken wings are good, they are hot and crispy. It was from this place where I was introduced to egg fu young & the drunken noodle dish. However, their dishes are quite salty, oily, and sometimes the vegetables are still hard. In addition, for their beef fried rice, sometimes the beef is not that cooked.
