This is now the most expensive Chinese centric buffet in Abilene. However, it does have the widest variety of items for lunch/dinner. The parking is off the beaten path. It looks like they are trying to complete with Buffet King as well as Golden Corral based on the menu. They sell beer too apparently. It is what it is. The shrimp options for lunch are the best in Abilene. Large pans of food also, never empty. It is what it is. I don't understand the two TVs showing Chinese programming. The servers are way more friendly than Buffet King, that's for sure and the food is less salty. Once can hope this place helps end China Star - the biggest rip off in Abilene for over 18 years! - but based on its' location, that might be hard to do. It should have been put in the Hastings building. Time will tell. Let's hope it sticks around. read more

Just had the food delivered by Grubhub. We travel by RV all over the country and normally try the local Chinese food. Normally I'm disappointed...but not here. The spring rolls and egg rolls were great. The fried dumplings were pretty good (not a super fan of the sauce). Fried rice was spot on and the sweet and sour chicken knocked it out of the park! There is no allergen menu. If you are allergic to certain foods or you're vegan or vegetarian, it is extremely difficult to eat here. No one could answer my questions or present me with an allergen menu and none of the servers seemed to know what is in the food. The good part about our 2 visits was the facility being super clean. The bad part was the food was just average. Our first trip was at that awkward lunch to dinner switch around 330 so we blamed ourselves for eating at a weird time. The 2nd trip confirmed that the food doesn't get replaced enough. It's okay, my son loves the crab legs they have, or at least had. Went there about 2 hours before closing the other day and they didnt have any. Also some of the food was just left out way too long, it really dilutes the flavor when it's just left there without being replaced. Probably best to go when its around lunch or dinner time, you'll have a better experience. read more

Went for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised, very attentive waitstaff and unbelievable selection of food. My wife and I both tried one small piece of many different items and really enjoyed the quality and taste. We refer to this place as the Ebola Chopsticks. We have both gotten sick every time we have eaten here. I think they need to do some work on their steam tables so food stays at proper temperatures. Literally the WORST Chinese food experience I've ever had. My husband and I are nauseous. I've eaten at Chinese buffets that have closed down due to really- and I mean REALLY- bad stuff. This place takes the cake. The proteins were drying in the bar, only to be "refreshed" when tossed in sauce that must've been sitting there since lunch time (mind you I ate here at 7:45pm). The rice was brittle, the general Tso's chicken had an AWFUL flavor and I'm not sure how they get general Tso's wrong, and the cakes in the desert window were so dry that they broke apart in my hands like hard, compacted rock. I spit 3 things out into a napkin by my second plate (I sampled almost everything besides the fruit/salad bar). One of the most disturbing things I saw were the stacks of boxes behind the grilling bar with what appeared to be bags of soda inside of them with the hoses freely dangling next to the floor- the soda they used to refill my drink. I am begging you guys- save your money. I just hope I don't get food poisoning. read more

She is two years old, the manager then called my sister yelling at her, my sister was confused and hung up. He then texted her saying "you're a bad parent I am going to call the cops on you." Food was average but I went on Crab-leg night and to my disappointment they have 1 bowl for the Crab-legs and I was there for an hour and only seen it filled one time. A friend and I went here for lunch to give this new restaurant a try. When we arrived, the parking lot was packed and we questioned whether or not to go on inside. We went in and had no problem being seated. There was plenty of room and available tables. My friend and I were taken aback by the size of the buffet and the variety of food offered. For those familiar with other local Chinese buffets, this place is like and expanded Buffet King. The food quality is about the same with a few more offerings. The service was fast and friendly and the establishment was very clean. One criteria by which I judge Chinese restaurants is the quality of their King Pao chicken. Golden Chopsticks' was fine. They use breaded chicken which I don't like, but the flavor was good overall. Egg rolls and spring rolls were good, as well. As with any other buffet there are items that looked like they had sat there too long. The price is comparable to other places locally. For my money and my tastebuds, I would return, but would much rather go to China Star. read more

Went there on a Saturday hoping I would get some crab legs but when we arrived they were out. It took forever for them to place some more and even after they did it was gone really fast. It was only 6:30pm when we went and there was quite a few people but half the food was already gone. I kept waiting to see if they replaced the food but no they didn't. I've never seen a buffet that isn't always replacing the food after they see it's getting low. Also cuz they didn't replace the food, it also got warm and cold by the time I reached my table. Also spent $28 for two people for poor quality food. For them to be pricey, they should at least have some good food or constantly replacing it but I guess this is as good as it gets in Abilene. read more

Golden Chopsticks recently opened and its now my favorite Chinese place in Abilene. It's a Chinese buffet and they serve a wide variety of quality food. The atmosphere is quite nice and they have pretty comfortable booths to sit in. I've been here twice now and the wait staff has been great both times. I highly recommend this place and it's one of the best new restaurants in town. If you're trying to decide between Golden Chopstick or Buffet King it's no contest in my opinion.
