The Golden Chopsticks were recommended as a good place to go for Chinese food in the area, so we gave it a try for take out.  Ordering and pick-up were easy and the customer service was very friendly! I was very pleased with how I was welcomed and interacted with during our visit. On this first visit we ordered a couple of our go-to items we try at a new place: House special Lo Mein, Beef and broccoli dinner combo (Fried rice, egg roll, and crab rangoon). Portion sizes were large and everything was hot. Unfortunately, the flavors were very bland in just about everything. The eggroll had an off/frozen taste and the Lo Mein was pale with little flavor. The beef and broccoli was ok, but once again not very flavorful.   We will try some other places around the area to compare. read more

One of my favorite stops while I'm home! Food is delicious, and it's easy to order and pick up. There's plenty of parking. It's really only a takeout place anymore, which is just as well honestly. The owners are very nice, they've been there for years. Food comes out reasonably fast 15-20 mins from when you order. It truly feels like a hole in the wall kind of spot, which is great for this cuisine. Not fussy, some seating in case you have to wait, easy in and out. A middling experience with Chinese food is my impression of this place after ordering today. We got a lo mein dinner combo (which comes with fried rice, a crab rangoon and egg roll), egg drop wonton soup, and a golden deluxe. Our bill for this was $40 (without an itemized receipt.) The fried rice tasted musty and left an after taste. I didn't eat it after the first bite. The lo mein was fine but quite light in the amount of chicken. The eggs roll was fried really hard and also had a musty taste. The crab rangoon didn't seem to have any crab in it; it tasted like cream cheese only in a fried wrapper. The golden deluxe had a generous amount of meats and seafood, but it lacked flavor. The egg drop soup tasted fine, but the wontons in it were subpar; they also weren't particularly flavorful. The service was quick, so no complaints there. Note, however, that it is takeout only so it's not the place to go if you're seeking a sit-down meal. After this experience, I'll look forward to trying other Chinese takeout in the area. read more

I called to place the order and the lady answering the phone did not talk with much clarity and if you ask a question, she gets frustrated with you. Anyway, she told me that it would be 25 minutes. It ended up being 50 minutes. Then she tried to charge me more than expected, so I asked for an itemized receipt. She was talking to me with a tone and loud. I look over the receipt and I see that she charged me for a large shrimp fried rice, but I ordered a small shrimp fried rice along with a small won ton soup and spring rolls. She told me that they were already making it but I told her I ordered a small and that's what I was going to pay for, so she was yelling at me and upset. Hidden gem. My wife and I only order Chicken Lo Mein and Moo Goo Gai Pan. I've also ordered General Tso's. By far the best Chinese food in the area. The lady who takes your order is super sweet. Price is good. I have no complaints. read more

The service there is HORRIBLE!!! The restaurant itself appears very unsanitary. We ordered over the phone for pick, and while they 1st messed up our order causing us to have to drive back to have our order corrected only to get into a yelling debate with the lady at the cash register, who also takes the orders via phone about exactly what we ordered. Keeping in mind she never provided the written slip which is typically provided upon ordering and pick up. We ordered a House Lo Mein, Gen. Tso chicken and 2 orders of shrimp spring rolls, and the spring Rolls were missing from our order. The spring rolls were greasy and scorched. The General Tso and Lo Mein both taste old or leftover and left a horrible after-taste in our mouths. I will NEVER patronize this establishment ever again!! read more

We eat at Golden Chopsticks often. It is hard to find good vegan food at most restaurants. Most Chinese places might have a bean curd option if I'm lucky, or else it's just vegetables, often cooked in beef stock. This place has 8 different items on their menu that are specifically vegetarian and have generous portions of some kind of meat-free chicken or beef. I like to take these dishes home and add more veggies. I'll get 5 or 6 meals out of each order. I see that a lot of people have complained about the staff being rude, but I haven't had that experience. The lady who runs the front of the house is kindof loud, but that just makes me feel like I'm eating at somebody's house. I ordered lunch specials today for my self and a coworker which should have come out to less than 20.00. I opened my app from my bank and found that I was charged over 36.00 for lunch "specials". When I attempted to contact them they refused and I when I showed up I was screamed at by the receptionist. I will never spend another dime there. I would recommend anyone to run. We will not be giving them our business. I hope everyone is aware. The wait was one thing but being charged double was way overboard. Didn't tell me how much I needed to order either, just said no. I would have absolutely added something else, but whoever I was speaking to was very rude and basically hung up on me. It is located in the Oakhurst Plaza in Susquehanna Twp, off Linglestown Road. Thelady who is the manager / waitress worked for a number of years as a waitress at Hong Kong Ruby on Jonestown rd. They serve Thai, Chinese and Japanese. my overall ratings: Japanese: chose any 2 rolls for 7.99, got spicy tuna & eel avacado rolls, along with miso soup. it came with a small amount of ginger, had to ask for extra. the miso was okay, not hot really. Chinese: Ordered Orange Flavored Chicken: it was pretty decent, i love this dish, almost everwhere I go it tastes great, this was probably the best dish there that I tried. came with pork fried rice, wonton soup and a shanghai eggroll. not bad at all. 5.95 lunch special Thai: ordered some Tom Yum soup, it was the smaller bowl for lunch time, 7.95 dollars. it came with large noodles, and several small shrimp, broccoli and a nice tasty rich broth. I liked it, my wife, her mother and i shared this one. Thai2: This was a variation of a favorite. When at Okini or Hong Kong City I usually eat Mango Shrimp. Here on the lunchtime thai menu they had mango squid. i decided to order it, it cost 7.95 dollars. It came out first of all the items, it had brown sweet rice with it, which really tasted good, not like the normal pork fried rice which is bland and gross. I order here maybe once every two months or so. The Chinese food is good, but I would stay away from the sushi and Thai food. There was a time where my sushi tasted stale and old...not very appealing since it was raw food. I would rather drive a little further to Sakana. As far as the Thai food, once ordered Pad Thai and went home to find that it was just noodles drenched in this tangy red/orange sauce. From my understanding, it should be tangy, yes, but I thought it should've been drier and more "stir fried". Not delicious. Edible and will kill the hunger pains but like others have said don't go out of the way for this place and don't make plans to come to this place, end up here haphazardly. Lunch specials (11am-3pm) are a little over 5$ with includes a veggie roll and rice. I went around noon and the place was completely empty - one of the workers was sleeping on the table in the back of the dining area....this can't be a good sign... I had General Tso's chicken and there was a slight hint of flavor (no spice or kick) and that hint was not distinct but generic and bland. I get the feeling they probably use the same sauce for all their similar saucy dishes i.e., orange chicken, sesame chicken but that's all speculation. Good Luck read more

Rude, expensive, very bad customer service and their food is not good! I was sick and couldn't cook, so I made an order and asked them to deliver. I found their prices to be extremely expensive in comparison to other places that I order from, but since the pandemic many places are not delivering so I had no choice but to go with them. My order came up to $24, I had $22 dollars and had to make up for the rest in quarters, I gave them $25.25. Again, I have been sick and haven't been able to work, so even tho I usually tip at least 15% when I eat out or deliver, on that evening, I couldn't. The delivery person called me to come get the food from their car in my driveway (they didn't even bother to come up to the door) and then yelled at me for giving a low tip, I asked her to calm down and stop yelling at me, that it was all I had and at least I was able to give something. She continued to yell and said that when she delivers she's used to getting $5.00 and more. I got back inside my home, sat at the table, and almost cried. I was frustrated and embarrassed, as I have never been in a situation where I couldn't afford to tip decently or generously. I lost my appetite, but decided to eat a little bit to at least take my medication and go back to bed... the food was horrible. Nothing tasted the way it was suppose to... The general tso's was prepared more in the likes of sweet/sour chicken. The pork fried rice had very little amounts of pork but yet was filled with fried eggs and vegetables. The chicken and broccoli ( My mom's meal) was in this weird red sauce- not the brown sauce that it usually comes in and the broccoli was hard as a rock. The wonton soup- I drank the liquid and gave the undercooked (mostly dough not enough pork filler) to the dog. Once I got back to working, and if the food would have been good, I would have dropped in personally to not only place an order and continue on being a customer, but I would have made a big gesture for the night that I couldn't give a decent tip. The only thing I am sorry for is myself for ordering from this dump and giving them a single penny. Needless to say, but I will not be ordering from this place ever again. read more

We have gotten take out from this restaurant before but this was the absolute worst experience we've had anywhere. Called and ordered the food and lady told us 30 minutes. My husband went in 30 minutes later and there were 7 people ahead of him waiting. That should have been the red flag! My husband waited for an hour for the food after confronting the lady several times that he wanted a refund. She kept telling him 2 minutes, 2 minutes. Meanwhile several door dash orders were going out the door. We spent $30 on two meals which is too much for what you get! Lesson learned and will not be back again. I haven't had much luck over the past few years finding Chinese food near me that truly satisfies. Some local areas are good in a pinch, but when I have the opportunity to make the drive I'll always go back to Golden Chopsticks. It was the one place my husband and I would get our chicken broccoli and pork ribs kick while we were living in Harrisburg. Some menu items are all-time favorites. I particularly like the vegetable lo mein (crunchy veggies, not too saucy, soft noodles) and orange chicken. The boneless spare ribs can be a little fatty at times, but the sauce is delicious and the meat is usually crispy on the edges. The wonton soup is a little wanting since there are no scallions or bits of pork in it like I've seen in other places, but the broth is full of flavor. Granted, I've never really tried the items on menu aside from the Chinese selections, but they're too good for me to pass up. I have been here several times in four years. More frequently in the last six months. Food is good. Consistently. Fresh and flavorful. I stick to the Chinese options. Huge portions, I'm pretty sure I could get three meals from one dish. Crab Rangoon is the best here. Chicken Lo Mein is delicious. Ginger Beef is wonderful. I usually pick one new thing every visit, always satisfied. Dining in can be a bit awkward, so I suggest an open mind here. The server will answer her phone to take a to-go order, all the while standing next to your table. So while waiting to place your own food order you get to listen. My husband arrived in 15 minutes and was told to wait in his car for the order to be ready. I just got lunch from here, and I am pretty disappointed. I got wonton soup and the kung pao chicken lunch special (includes pork fried rice and "egg roll"). The staff was friendly, and my food was ready when I went to pick it up. The place looked clean, but I only stood at the hostess station to get my food. Okay... now for the food. The lunch special had a generous portion of entree and rice. The "egg roll" was not an egg roll, but a spring roll. And, it was mushy because it was thrown on top of the rice. It tasted okay for a soggy spring roll. The entree was not very good. There was at least a quarter inch of grease on the bottom of the container. The meat was decent, and edible. The flavor was okay. The highlight of the meal was the pork fried rice... they did a nice job on something that many places mess up pretty badly. The wonton soup was NOT good! The broth was fine, just your basic chicken broth, but the wontons were... ack! There was about a peanut sized amount of meat inside a huge wonton, and the meat had a weird taste... it was almost sweet. Not good! All in all, it was fine. I certainly did not save the leftovers though, and I don't plan to go back unless I am desperate (I work pretty close, so it might happen). read more

Three stars cause the meat was OK and service was quick. Knocked off two stars cause everything else tasted gross. The wonton in my soup had a teaspoon of meat and very doughy. They did not add a side of noodles to my soup order. The broth was bland. My pork fried rice was gross as well. Old freezer burned veggies and it did not taste like authentic chinese at all.
