The steak had a sour taste, the cheese showed signs of mold, chicken was undercooked to the point skin looked raw, the overcooked pork chops sat out so long the knife would not cut them. The Golden Corral is well...a Golden Corral, so if you know, you know. However, the Amarillo locale is very spacious and clean, and the service was wonderful. All of the food I tried (with the exception of the spinach, which was really harsh tasting) was very good, especially the meatloaf. read more

I get this place is old, but that doesn't mean your facility has to look that way. Upon entering the door looks terrible, I should've left then. Your cups were dingy looking and didn't even look clean your plates are so old they are stained, your silverware I didn't even want to use either, the walls are nasty, literally everything is nasty. Your food was dried out and looked as if it had been sitting there. Your bathrooms needed cleaned. If you're going to own a restaurant take care of it. If you can't let someone else come in and do what you obviously can't. If your facility looks like that I don't want to know what the kitchen looks like. I won't be back. It's only gotten worse since the last time I was there & that was a very long time ago as every time I eat here I get sick. Went for breakfast with the family. The staff was pleasant and attentive. Food selection was good with plenty to choose from. The bacon was a little salty but everything else was good. The steak was surprisingly juicy, tender and cooked as asked. The only downside was the bathrooms needed attention and my wife had to wipe down the baby changing table. I'm giving this 4 stars because it was such a treat in our world of covidiocy. We were staying the night in Amarillo along I-40. We discovered that this Golden Corral was completely open. What a treat for us from Colorado where covidiocy reigns. The restaurant appeared new and very clean. Staff was friendly, although they were still wearing masks. I might have given a 5 star review but for that. The food was exactly what we expected: very average preparation. Selection was good. Nothing remarkable, but it was so nice to just enjoy average American food in a venue with (mostly) common sense. read more

Golden Corral never disappoint whether it's brunch or dinner. We went for brunch in Lubbock and corned beef hash is one of my favorite and their French toast too. Amarillo branch perfected the bbq menus so whenever we're craving for bbq, we would go here instead of the bbq shacks because for relative price, we could have salad and dessert too. The family (about 15 of us) had breakfast here one morning before everyone started leaving town after the funeral gathering and the food was average but fine. There was the usual breakfast fare--eggs, taters, bacon, french toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, cereals, plenty of choices for everybody. I don't think they can compare with good old Luby's (long gone now) but it got us all fed for a reasonable price. It's hard to knock anyplace where you can get all-you-can-eat bacon. read more

Wow what a great buffet! Not used to this level of quality and variety. I was happy to pay for my entire party's meals, it was very reasonably priced. I had a great salad, steak and mashed potatoes, pot roast and baked tilapia and then German chocolate cake with peach cobbler for desert. It was awesome. Lexi was the first person we interacted with and she was flat out rude. the manager on shift seemed like he did not care and he was also pretty rude. When you see footage of poultry factories caging hundreds of thousands of birds in row after endless row; when cattle factories fatten their animals on GMO-enhanced soy cud; when hogs wallow in artificially lit metal barns across the midwest; and when Golden Corral is charging less than ten bucks a head for endless plates of these animals, you can take a wild guess at where the stuff is coming from. Meanwhile, try seeking out some fruit options. I found two: cantaloupe and honeydew. The rest appeared canned or straight up unripe. I got dragged in here under protest while on a road trip. This is a place where food nightmares begin. Buffet wise it was a pretty average spread, salad, Mexican food, Chinese food, nothing special. But when it's an hour till close and you're surrounded by uncivilized heathen kids with parents who are MIA and you find yourself looking forward to getting back on I-40 and getting the heck out of there. The Golden Corral in Amarillo Texas does not have proper Air conditioning for dinning. It was so hot I was drenched in sweat. I asked about the AC. The waitress said it wasn't installed on that side. And the others sides were full. I sat down and tried to cool off while my husband ate and poured sweat the entire time. The waitress came and took my husbands plate it had our receipt on it and it was thrown away when I went to go ask for a to go box so that I could go eat in my car where it would be cooler. She said she would have to charge me per pound and I said I already paid to dine in. So I asked for my money back. She asked for my receipt. Which was somewhere drenched in food by now. I didn't eat, I didn't get a to go box and I didn't get my money back. This was awful and i wasn't treated right, I wouldnt have treated someone in my position with High blood pressure like that in this heat that way. I was treated like a dollar bill.
