First, the positive. We have been served by Terrell every time that we've eaten here. He is always efficient and courteous. The food was good for a $20 buffet. (Unfortunately we paid $35.27). The cashier, Tosha, treated us like we had interfered with her day by coming in. She couldn't get the credit card reader to work and had to get assistance to charge us. My wife and i tried to make polite conversation while we waited for her to get her act together but everything we said was met with a scowl and/or a grunt. The food on the Buffet is ok to very good but the steak cooked at the grill is the worst steak I have ever eaten. Absolutely horrible. The guy doing the steak obviously has no clue what he is doing. He has no clue in the difference between medium rare and burnt. Everything he cooks is over done and has no flavor. Dirty work boot leather comes to mind. The weekend cook may be better but the weekday cook is horrible. Let him bus tables and find a real grill cook. read more

This location of Golden Corral certainly made a positive impression on me. I have been to many over the years. This one was clean. We came at 1pm on a Sunday, so it was very busy. The lines moved quickly They kept the food replaced and I rarely saw an empty pan. I did have two rounds of food and tried different things. I was pleased with everything I tried. An abundance of low quality food made palatable by adding copious amounts of salt. The desserts are good. Service is ok the wait staff cleans away plates and fills glasses, that is all that you can ask for. The servers at the grill are slow to respond and then cut off small portions of meat without ever asking how much you would like. My suggestion is if you want a buffet with ribs and a better assortment. Go across the street to the Chinese restaurant. It's a buffet and cheaper. You also feel welcome there. read more

The only complaint I really have is that the Decatur location does not open on time (at least on weekends). According to the Golden Corral website, this location is supposed to open at 8am on weekends. I've visited many times, and it is never open earlier than 9 am, if you are lucky. This past weekend, we were there at 9:15, and it still was not open. Cars were waiting the parking lot filled with hungry patrons, but many turn away and go somewhere else to eat. For us, Panera received our business. Otherwise, the food is ok and plenty of it. We luke to go because of so many varying tastes of my family. On the road here i was setting my expectations very low since the last GC visited in Huntsville was atrocious. WOW was i in for a shock! This reminded me of Fire Mountain in Pennsylvania except it was way cleaner. This place had fresh food, everything was hot and tasty and the waitress (I neglected to get her name) was superb and attentive. My wife and i both ate here at 5 pm Saturday March 14. Please give this lady a raise. She works very hard and is responsive to customers, making them feel like honored guests. Everyone here was courteous and professional. I was very very very disappointed with the quality of food with this buffet, we stopped in for late lunch and there's a greasy sign next to the grill that had hours you could receive a steak off the grill. If this is the case how come the menu price didn't reflect it? I really wanted my money back but I was so over it. I left this place and got me some McDonald's and went home. I don't know how this place stays in business as they allow families to take out 6 times the amount they pay for. I observed a black lady take out a whole tray of chicken that was just laid out and place it into 3 to go boxes and I didn't even get a piece. Anyway, the food was mediocre at best and not worth $36 for two not including drinks. I can see the writing on the wall that this place will be closed for good as the other ones are. You can't survive as a restaurant when you let people walk out with 6 times the food that a normal person pays for. There is a rule of thumb at buffets - no take out boxes. I am a Senior Lady. I eat here often. Always alone. It's usually from 1:pm to 3:00 pm. I choose the food that is soft and fresh looking. I sometimes ask for things they are out of. It's usually there quickly. I love the way the waitresses treat other Seniors eating there too. They're very pleasant and accommodating. I don't eat a lot but I get enough to satisfy my hunger. I love that there's always fudge and chocolate cake. and fresh rolls if you ask. read more

I have been to buffets before, normally they are dirt, cold food, and not great food at that. This place is the complete opposite! So many choices to choose from, Hot food, the steaks are amazing. The staff is very friendly and the managers are also nice to talk to. This is a smaller golden corral compared to most, but it works! read more

Yuck yuck yuck. This place was absolutely disgusting!!! When we got there had a hard time even finding a table that wasn't full of dirty dishes. Then we get to the buffet and it was so nasty. The Decatur Golden Corral has been open about two weeks now, they renovated the old Ryan's that abruptly closed several months back. So I went today to see how it was. Arrived about 11:30am to a long line and packed restaurant, I ended up sitting in the very back dining room because it was the only available seating. I like buffets because I'm a die hard low-carber and I can normally get a good variety of meats for the cost of a lunch buffet, I'll go visit one when I'm looking for some variety in my diet. To be fair, I went today at the height of lunch hour because sometimes buffets during either side of the standard meal hour can be a mixed bag - items not heated up enough yet if you go beforehand, or overheated and dried out if you wait too long. Today it was FULL HOUSE so the expectation would be that everything was fresh. In terms of freshness, it was actually a mixed bag. The ham I had "fresh sliced" by their staff, waiting under a heat lamp, was only about lukewarm. It was quite moist though. The baked chicken under a similar heat lamp had apparently been there a very long time with no takers, it was definitely dried out. I tried some bacon on their sort of "mini breakfast bar" section (they actually only serve breakfast on weekends) and every piece I had was fried to an absolute crisp. Some people like it that way, I'm not a fan. I tried the two different kinds of fish they had (fried and grilled) - the fried was quite tasty with a cornmeal coating. I tried the fried shrimp, which was okay but a very high proportion of breading to shrimp. I sampled a variety of other meats - the bbq pork, the bbq beef, and some grilled chicken. All of it was..... just okay. Nothing to write home about, and certainly nothing to make me want to run back there. For $12 for lunch (meal plus drink without tip came to $12!) I didn't feel like I got a good deal. I'd pay $12 for a great lunch, for one that was just below mediocre, not so much. If you just want to eat your fill and don't really care about the quality of the food, this is probably a good choice. Otherwise, spend your $12 somewhere else. read more

I paid nearly 18 dollars this Sunday night and , I wanted nearly 30 minutes and barely even sat down to check back and forth to see if I can get my wings . And they straight up and lied to me . So if this review doesn't help , I believe in God and so I know they'll reap what they sow . I won't be returning ever again . I used to be an avid lover of golden corral food when they first came to Huntsville AL and then Decatur AL. I quit going to Huntsville location because quality of food kept going down then the Decatur AL came along and first few week it was the happening place to eat then the quality of food went down also from over cooked dried out food hard biscuits left steaming on serving line to just plain not good eating. After swearing off not to go back ever again like lot of other people I decided to go back on Sunday 3 Sept 2017 abt 430pm. I was really stunned first at cash register when paying for 2 senior meals with tea. I saw the price had risen to $34.00 which I ask if there was a mistake on the charge the lady politely stated it was for real. 1st want go back reason is the cost. My wife and I got our food and was sorta surprised at the food really taste real good compared to few months early. I almost always get the meat loaf which is my test for testing quality of food. All foods we got was really tasty until while I was I eating my meatloaf I found a large piece of real fatty piece of unground meat about size of medium size chicken wing. I ask waitress what she thought it was she stated it was piece of unground pork in meatloaf and she had seen it before. I got manager over showed him and he didn't seem to concern and ask if I was rib steak etc. I told him no I didn't if I wanted his steak I would have gotten it instead of meatloaf. He went to kitchen and serving table to check remaining meatloaf for large chunks of pork, So, there is 2 reasons I want go back to Golden Corral is $34 for 2 senior meals and the large chunks of unknown food being mixed with my food. Some people can't eat pork for medical reasons and then there is the religious reason. Needless to say I didn't leave a tip. if you like unknown foods being mixed with your meal this is the place for otherwise I would suggest you stay away. Hank read more
