Food is NEVER hot. Food doesn't ever taste fresh. Food doesn't ever taste good. We've tried this Decatur, AL location about a dozen times in the last 18 months. Everyone says it is "great"... but we've never experienced that. We've been there for both lunch and dinner, weekdays and weekends. We've NEVER seen any steaks. The meat counter only has one or two items during lunch -- every other location we've visited has a variety of meats, even at lunch, every single day.... not this one. Every other location had steaks for dinner and had some sort of smaller steak at lunch... again, all of them except this one. The prices just keep going up... so does the "senior" age. They used to say it was 55, now they say it is 60 (at least other locations said it was 55, but this one says 60 -- maybe they are just different and haven't actually changed). Fried Chicken always looks and tastes like it is re-heated garbage from a few days prior. Every single time. Again, that's just in Decatur, we've never experienced this at other locations. Mashed potatoes are very bland instant potatoes... maybe they are instant at other locations but they aren't this bland and lumpy. Green Beans are 100% plain, right out of a can. Other locations put bacon and stuff in them to give them flavor.... yep, everywhere except the Decatur AL location. Servers bring your warm soda with about 3 ice cubes... if you ask for more ice, they might give you 5 cubes... sodas are nasty when they are warm.... and all of this food is not good when it is ALL lukewarm or cold. I don't know why we keep trying it... it is been very disappointing every time at this location. Yeah, I said the prices are higher... it was almost $19, with tax, WITH ONLY WATER to drink for each of us... that was 2 days ago. It's simply outrageously priced. For the quality of food and the lack of variety at this location, it should be no more than $10 total with a drink even for dinner. I suppose we'll stop giving in and going to this location; we are only throwing away our hard-earned money. The Cullman, AL location is much better, ten-fold, that is NOT an exaggeration. read more

Unsanitary plates -- STAINED, SCRATCHED, AND CRACKED PLATES are NOT SANITARY. THEY ARE NOT SAFE TO USE. Half the plates in this place were either heavily scratched or else actually cracked. When I spoke to an employee about them, they just looked at me like I was crazy and said, "They've been WASHED!". You can't reliably clean and sanitize plates with scratches or cracks. Also, they should not even try to use plates that are STAINED, either. I asked for a refund. They refused. I went through more than 20 plates to find an acceptable one when I got some food. I'll NEVER go back to this place. It was the worst GC I've ever seen. They did not have ANY meats on the grill. Nothing, no one was cooking anything. All we had was fried chicken, meatloaf, and fish to choose from. They had no regular butter at all. read more

As a mother of two boys with hearty appetites, I always choose this restaurant when in Decatur. They offer a wide range of hearty food and even my picky eater has no problem finding something that he loves. Their new menu offers more foods for my oldest son who has some food allergies, as well.
