I have been to this location of Golden Corral several times. I just can't do it anymore. I will no longer eat here. Mind you, these are all of my opinions. The gravy is extremely lumpy. I am spitting stuff out all the time. Tiny chunks of something. Gross. Never any hot dogs. Always waiting for mashed potatoes. I never get any desserts. Wow. I love buffets, but they are going the way of the Dodo. Decided to meet the wife's side of the family at this Minnesota location for Easter at 1100 am. Yeah yeah, I know, go to a subpar place for Easter lunch. Whatever. The parking lot was spacious but packed when we arrived, and there were 7 of us. The line went fast, and the price point was good seeing as I was paying for 5 of us ( the other two people were late). We found a table luckily (sit your self) and managed to add one chair to our packed table made for 6. On to the food! My first priority was the steak. The guy behind the grill looked a bit haggard, but he had several steaks ready to go, I just had to tell him how I liked it (medium rare). He gave me the fattiest piece of steak I have ever had with only a bite sized piece of usable meat on it. Total gristle. But the fried shrimp made up for it. OMG. The butterflied fried shrimp were hot out of the fryer, and they were huge extra jumbo. Very meaty, and slightly greasy. Just the way they should be. That made up for the 99% gristle steak. I rounded out the shrimp feast with some fried chicken which was pretty good, and some mashed taters and gravy. Pretty good. It's not the Capital Grill or Kincaids, but it's pretty good. Better than the now defunct Old Country Buffet. Place was packed to the gills, but good turn around for the holiday. I'd eat here again no problem. read more

This was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I ate here and within hours I was violently sick, throwing up nonstop in my bathroom for the rest of the night. I've never gotten that sick after eating out before, and this was the only place I ate that day. What makes it even worse is how management handled it or didn't. I confronted them face to fave to let them know what happened and there was zero concern. No apology, no refund, no attempt to make it right. It felt like they truly did not care. On top of that, while I was there I was told some really concerning things about the restaurant, including that they've had issues with mice and that food is reused from the previous day after sitting out. I obviously can't unsee or unthink that now, and it explains a lot about how I felt afterward. Between getting sick, the lack of response from management, and the serious cleanliness concerns, I will never eat here again. I've been here on weekdays and weekends. Either times the food has been hot, continuously replenished and not dry--except for the pizza. I like the steak grill which is included at no extra cost. I usually skip the salad bar but don't forget there's more food options on that side of the buffet. The floor around the drink station is often wet and sometimes splattered with ice, so be careful walking across. I didn't notice loud music blaring the last time I was there but I'm sure it was noticeably playing other times and I do believe like another review said, that it was Christian music playing during a non-Sunday. Not an issue for me but some people might not enjoy. The banquet room is available for reservation at no additional cost but they only allow you to reserve it for weekdays and require a minimum of 20 people in your party. I felt the seasoning on the food was pretty good. Icees and cotton candy are a hit with the kids. Other dessert options are lacking in decent options, taste and quality. Don't go here. The food is only meh. Salad bar is alright, but the cooked veggies are mush and the meats are more miss than hit. Christian music blaring is obnoxious. For the most part, I've tuned it out but it still feels judgemental and othering. They're got a few characters at work here, some rude and some who are inappropriate in general. I've said something about it to the manager, but he shrugs it off. I've made mention of it on a survey, but nothing comes of it. The last straw: The rewards program is a sham. You can't scan the app at the register and the app UI looks like a failed middle schooler's project. Sometimes, you don't get the ability to get rewards because the info doesn't print onto the receipt. The manager can't (won't?) make a solution for it. Invite someone to eat with you, pay for it, and trying to add both receipts? They don't thank you for having someone join you. Instead, customer support will accuse you of fraud. It doesn't matter that I sent a photo to customer support, clearly showing the rewards info didn't print on one of the receipts. Hope they enjoy the loss of a regular customer. This Golden Corral might be the best one in Minnesota. It's laid out very well and has a warm feeling atmosphere with decent food, unlike the one in Maple Grove. The prime rib and steak were tender and tasty. We came on a Saturday afternoon when the price is high at $17 per adult but it was worth the experience and variety of food. Went here with my wife and while eating the spaghetti, that was only tomato sauce and noodles, I get slid papers. She is divorcing me,but like who doesn't put meat with the spaghetti sauce, it outrageous. It was the worst part of the dinner. My first ever visit to a Golden Corral. My expectations were low since I've heard not-so good things. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was! The salad bar was very nice and fresh. I tried a little bit of pot roast, street bourbon chicken, some rice and potatoes. All very good! For dessert they had carrot cake cupcakes which I have to say was my favorite! I had some vanilla ice cream with it and it was perfect. Not to mention our waitress was very sweet. The food at this location is excellent. It leans towards southern cooking. Always enough of everything, or they will be bringing more out soon. The service is not the most friendly, but they know their jobs and aren't reluctant to help you. We get the idea those working there are tired because of few workers. The only area this has shown up as a problem is the dessert area. The employees there don't pay attention to the customers (constantly stand with back to customers) and fail to keep their area clean. Yummy Golden Corral. I only come here when I get my BOGO birthday deal. It's like $15 bucks otherwise. For $15, I'd rather go to an Asian buffet. But for Bogo, it comes out like $7/8 bucks a person. Not too terrible. I come here for the fried chicken. It's pretty good! They come often and taste is great. Juicy on inside and crispy on the outside. I also like the fried shimp and popcorn shrimp. On weekends they have premium meats like ribs and steak. It's okay.. Not the best quality but it's decent. More fatty than I would like. They have a good variety of American foods like mashed potato and gravy, mac and cheese, veggies, tacos, fried rice, salad bar etc... All their steamed veggies are pretty buttery. Like the mushrooms and corn etc... They're good, but probably not the healthiest way. But, when you come to Golden Corral, you shouldn't think about your health. You come here for your cheat day. I'm a huge fan of buffets. I was pretty sad when all the "Old Country"s shut down, but for some reason hadn't made a go of Golden Corral. It's not extremely well-reviewed, so that may have entered into it. Well, today I decided to give them a shot, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The hot food was hot, and the chilled food was chilled. I had meat loaf and fried chicken, which were great, alongside mashed potatoes + gravy, green beans, corn and broccoli. I made myself a small salad, and the lettuce was nice and fresh. No brown leaves, or the smell of that "keep fresh" chemical often added to produce. The place was not very busy, and it was very clean and well-cared for. There were staff constantly at the buffet bars, checking when something needed to be replaced or refreshed. I'm sure they hate to hear the phrase "of course, it's only a buffet", but they do an amazing job with what must be a really tough place to keep running at high standards. First time to a Golden Corral/Hometown Buffet in 15 years, and it's still meh. Quality of service largely depends on where you sit. Some areas were filthy, others were clean (mine was). But I can't blame the server, when the cashiers keep ramming customers in faster than they can clean up. Amazing that such a racist location had about 50% minorities or more working in this location. We paid at the register like everyone else.
