I went to the favorite famous Dave's location in Minnetonka and had a real nice lunch. I bought a burger off there lunch menu for $10 and it included a side of corn. I also ordered an extra two Texas beef ribs. The food here does not disappoint, it's very filling and savory. I do think it's got one of the best value propositions of any restaurant in town. Don't forget to sign up for rewards which when utilize takes about 10% off your bill. Also, make sure to come here for happy hour, three dollar beers and cheap ribs, burgers, and wings. read more

Hadn't been here in years. Had a craving for the catfish fingers and shrimp. Much different than I remember, i thought they had waiters but I guess you order and then seat yourself. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. I dont mind grabbing my own refills cause I drink a lot of water. Food was hot and delicious. We got: The Pulled Pork Sandwich (one each), Southside Rib Tips, Two Bones St. Louis Style Ribs (two each), and fountain beverages. Everything was delicious and fresh. We appreciate that Famous Dave's has been working hard to regain their status as a great place to get barbecue. We took home some of the food that was left, as our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. Inside service has always been good. It's been a year or so since I've used curbside service... so my hope is the staff that worked that area has been replaced. The app has a wonderful little link that you can click when you arrive, to notify staff to bring out your food. I did this on three separate occasions... in about as many months. I will be transparent that I tend not to tip online on such orders. Rather I tip in cash when I get my food based on how long I actually had to wait. I'm not sure if that was the "problem" with my orders or not. All three times I arrived and waited 20 - 25 minutes for my order. The last time I ordered it was the free slice of birthday dessert. I waited roughly a half hour before finally going in. When I walked in a gal was standing at the cash register... my cheesecake slice all packaged up and ready to go in front of her. She wasn't helping anyone and the dining room wasn't busy like she hadn't had a moment to step away. I didn't ask why it wasn't brought out, just took it and left. Writing off this restaurant for the worst to-go service. If also had an issue when I ordered to-go, where you had to come inside to pick it up. I believe at the time the online ordering method told you what time your food would be ready, so I left home about 10 minutes before that so I would arrive when it was ready.. I arrived...waited...waited... waited some more, now I'd went from being the only person there to about four others. My tummy was growling!!! The employee said "Nikki" or what I thought was Nikki and I hopped up as I'd been there the longest, it must be my food!! I took it, drove home... took the food out. Ugh, this isn't what I ordered!!! Oh no!! Boy is that lady going to be as disappointed in her pulled chicken sandwich as I am in this quarter chicken lunch!! Sorry, but I was there first, so why wouldn't I assume they were calling my name? I'm partially to blame... the employee didn't read off the order before handing it over. I'm too hungry to go back and get the right food... and you...maybe Vicki, are probably already gone w your incorrect lunch as well. I would recommend this location for dining in but he other options....not so much. First off I am from Texas (Houston - best city in Texas) and I know a thing or two about great bbq and let me tell you what, famous Dave's bbq is great! Food: moist brisket is so flavorful and tasty. Do not get the lean brisket. Get the moist. The jalapeño cheese sausage is simply amazing! The put the brisket on a piece of Texas style toast, so good. They also put the sausage on top of some of that Texas toast too. Such an nice extra touch to compliment the amazing meats. The rib ends are pretty good too. All the meat is smoked like real bbq should be! The sides are so dam good too! I got the Mac n cheese and it was very tasty. The dirty rice was really good as well. Amazing sides! Famous Dave's is a restaurant who specializes in bbq. They are pretty decent but not the best bbq ever. Restaurant: there is a counter when you walk in where you order, they give you a number to set at your table for them to bring your food to. They have plenty of tables and some of them do expand to make them bigger. Service: the manager did come around and ask us how things were but other then that the service was fine nothing wonderful or subpar about it. Food: normally I would give them four stars but I brought my rating down to three because of my meat. My mom and I both got the classic Georgia pork. Hers was fine, mine had the actual end of the meat and a ton of fat. I was really disappointed because it made it not super appetizing anymore then. That being said the parts that weren't fatty were good and my moms was perfectly fine. I got mine with the beans which have some kick to them. I also got the corn on the cob. Carry-out is only 5 minutes from my house, but I usually have to microwave the food when I get home. They do a good job of keeping the large dining room clean. Staff is usually super busy, no matter what the crowd, and I don't think I've ever had a stellar customer service experience there, but they get the job done. Never a place I just really look forward to going, but they give me my rib fix. I think it's time to start investigating the smaller rib shacks around St. Paul. read more

Oh how far you've slid down hill. Normally I'm a big fan of Dave's, but wow tonight was just awful. When we entered the restaurant it was only about half full and there was only one person ahead of us placing their order at the counter. When I started placing my order the counter worker kept on talking over me saying "what? huh?" She also had no idea what a Memphis style BBQ sandwich was, so when I explained she said "oh you want a side of slaw." After explaining that the slaw goes on the sandwich she replied "so you don't want any sauce." After telling her no the slaw goes on the sandwich and it also has BBQ sauce, one of her colleagues finally reached over her and punched in my order for her. So if you are familiar with Dave's you know that unless you are ordering a hamburger, nothing is cooked to order, it is just a matter of dishing up the order. It took an hour and fifteen minutes for our food to be brought to our table. We checked after 45 minutes and the first comment rather than "Oh, I'm so sorry" was "Well the kitchen is backed up, we've had lots of orders." Now mind you we had sat there and watched a steady stream of people walk in, order carry out and have their order prepared promptly." Any way we were told it would be 10 more minutes when in reality it took another 30. The coups de Grace though was that not only was their no slaw on my sandwich, but both my dining companion and I received lukewarm food. When my companion took his food back to the counter, the manager had the audacity to tell him it had been a busy night. Look I know that restaurants are struggling coming back up to speed. If I'm ever in the mood of BBQ, I come here since it is so close to home. However, I do not think the quality of the food justifies the price of the food. (AKA not a good value) Service: Neutral about it. You order your food at the front and sit down with a number. They bring your food out. You refill your own drinks so I don't really have a comment about the service here. They will bus your table after you leave. Good: The Rich and sassy is my favorite BBQ sauce here. There are times when I feel like I'm the most important person that has ever walked in those doors and they're going to do whatever they can to make me happy. That's one end of the spectrum.there are other times when I walk in that door and they have no idea that I'm there nor do they care. Recently I went in and asked for 2 bones naked. I got 4 bones with sauce. I asked my server what was up with that she was like well this is just how it is I was like but I ordered it naked just like oh fine she took it back and then brought me to bones naked. I went to Famous Dave's in Roseville for the all you can eat fish on a Friday recently. Wow were to begin! I ordered the my meal and sat down. I got my fish and chips ,but got it before I received my silverware! Really? Also when I was done with my first plate, I pushed it to the side to indicate I was done . However I was totally ignored. I had to go talk to the manager not once but twice to get some halfway service!! The second time I talked to a manager I started getting my food at a decent time, I will admit. However, I was just getting the fish only, not the chips that's supposed to go along with it!! I was seeing other people's plates served to them and many of them had chips on their plates!! I don't appreciate false advertising!!! Don't get me wrong, I came for the fish versus the chips buit it said all you can eat fish and chips not all you can eat fish!! OK. It's Famous Dave's...it's not exceptional but it has always been reliable. You know exactly what you're going to get. Until now. They have made some changes-some good-some not so good. First the good, because I like to keep it positive. They have a new bigger assortment of bottled beer-and 2 tap beers! Moar beer-one IPA and one Blonde. I really like IPA and this one was really good. My husband had the blonde and he liked it too. Now for the changes we didn't feel were improvements...first, they removed my husband's reason for stepping into FD's, the Devil's Spit burger. Gone from the menu. They made him a regular burger and put pepper-jack cheese and bacon on it with the Devil's Spit sauce -- but they no longer put brisket on the burger nor do they have jalapeño bacon. He thought his burger was OK, but he declared it was time to find a new favorite burger place when we were finished. Next, they changed their cornbread. It used to be a wonderful little muffin, and now it is a piece of corn cake. Tasted like a cross between cornbread and yellow cake. They also changed their plating-used to come out in a tin lid that kept all your food contained. Now it's on a white platter. I was constantly shoving my food back onto the plate so it wouldn't topple over the sides. They only put Rich & Sassy and Sweet & Zesty sauces on the table. I had to hunt down Devils Spit, and had to ask for Ketchup. I had roasted chicken and it was good. My son had ribs and he said they were great. So not everything has changed. I got the Texas Brisket sandwich with the voucher and they were super cool and gave my wife a plain grilled chicken breast and 2 corn bread muffins. Her FAVORITE! I also ordered a Summit EPA, I got this puny 12 ounce glass for like $5.75. What!? I was kind of pissed off at this price for like 6 gulps of beer. Anyway, no big whoop, except it was a big whoop. It cost them from 4 to 3 stars. My sandwich came with cubed brisket hunks, I really prefer their pulled meats, so I know to get those in the future. I drenched everything in the super hot Wilber sauce. I was sweating by the end. I may have to roll it back to Devil Spit. I ordered my mashed potatoes as the side. Super awesome with the BBQ sauce! My wife gave me two bites of her grilled chicken and they were 5 star, if I could give 6, I would give it for those. I have heard rumors that they cook all this stuff at a central location and ship it out to their franchises. They had a nice crispy outside but the meat was tender.The chopped pork comes on Texas toast. It wasn't bad, but next time I'll double up on the tips. The side of beans was tasty as were the signature pickles. The corn meal muffin was a good closer. My wife had catfish and brisket which she rates "thumbs up" / "its ok".
