This is going to become our new "go to" place. The food was good, the choices were plentiful. The prices were reasonable. Want plain unadorned vegetable, they got it. can't decide chicken or steak -they got both. Feel like fried foods- they've got that, too. And there's a massive dessert bar. First time here because my mother in law wanted to go for her birthday dinner and that will be my last time ever. Entrance smelt moldy and that should have been my first warning to leave. We all ordered water and the waitress came to the table and said something is wrong with their water so if we wanted water we would have to buy bottled water. Had to drive to the doctors and we stopped for lunch and had me a salad and everything was fresh and delicious I skipped eating anything else just because the salad bar was so good that I made me a second serving of it. While the options have become less and less, food has been extremely bland, and today was visiting and looked over to see a roach on the window seal. Not your normal large water roach, a legit household cockroach. While I do come here to entertain my in-laws since they really enjoy the breakfast options. There is no way I will be returning. My experience was a 5 star. There are ups and downs to this particular Golden Corral, but the ups far exceed the downs. My customer service was definitely work 5 stars. The guy that served us, Bryan, I think his name was was very attentive. Always kept our glasses full with our drinks that we were drinking and kept checking on us and asking us if we needed anything. There was a lady who also was checking on us too, all the servers worked very well together and all of them helped each other out. I love to see a group of coworkers work that well together. I honestly believe that makes the world go round for any establishment. Our food was all good. I can't say there was anything on my plate that was awful. Every was well cooked and presented nicely. The atmosphere was hopping. There was a lot of people and everyone customer seemed to be enjoying their dinner and ambiance. Now, with all those ups, the prices are kind of steep. I go to a lot of Golden Corrals around Texas, and I can honestly say that dinner prices are higher than other Golden Corrals I've been too. So when you come here, just don't be sticker shocked. Compared to other Golden Corrals, this one was kind of small. There was a lot of food displayed, but the size of the building itself was smaller than most I've been to. There is hope! Considering my encounters with Golden Corral over the years and seeing so many run-down looking spots with food that was subpar, it's safe to say I wasn't expecting much on my visit here; but I wanted to come and give this location a chance to see if I could be impressed or if it would be yet another lackluster spot furthering my theory that Golden Corral was soon to be on it's way out. Impress me they did, I was pleasantly surprised. The first thing I noticed was the carpet, unlike several other locations, the carpet was clean. As a custodian, I tend to not want to be around messy locations because my work instincts will kick in and I'll instantly be too uncomfortable-but this establishment was borderline spotless. The walls were clean, the ceiling tiles were fine, and if anything did hit the floor, I noticed the staff was quick to sweep it up. I enjoyed watching how prompt the staff was at clearing the tables once customers left and how they continued to check on empty tables to ensure they were kept clean. The lady at the register was friendly and had a good eye, I noticed and relished how serious she took her job to the point she made sure customers knew to grab the gloves provided by the restaurant before going to serve themselves, even reminding a customer that was about to grab food without gloves that they needed to put on the gloves. Next up was my server. One of the things I experienced at other locations were staff sitting around or ignoring tables to the point they just seemed not to care. Here at this location was just the opposite, I must have seen my server a dozen times. She was friendly and attentive, even checking my table and noticing that I was returning from the buffet so realizing that I had not left yet. She came around a few times to check on and refill my water, which I thought was fantastic. Most locations are a bit dark and gloomy, probably to hide their filthy carpets; but this location was bright and well lit. I thrived and was able to simply relax, enjoy the view outside my window and eat slowly. That said, the food was stunning. Everything that was supposed to be hot was hot and fresh, right down to the mashed potatoes which had a remarkable flavor to them. What I enjoyed most, however, was the chocolate fountain was actually up and running. Unlike the experience I had years ago at a place that had none, and my recent experience at a shop that only had a bin of chocolate sauce, this store's tall tower was flowing with sweet chocolate. It was the proverbial icing on the cake for me. As another reviewer puts it, the people here care, and it shows. The team at this store has a degree of pride I look for and expect when I head out; and I would hope that other locations can embody that. However, it gives me hope that if Golden Corral has a gem like this, there must be other shops too. So hats off to you, GC, you're not a dying chain business just yet bujt I'd love to see more locations like this one here, it's top notch. I recommend it highly as it deserves recognition. read more

I'm not going to lie.... I was a little skeptical but it was actually pretty good! It was my first time there and I was not disappointed. The salad bar was stocked with fresh toppings and the lettuce was fresh and crisp. I then tried a little bit of everything. The fried chicken was actually really good!! Crispy and moist. The beef pot roast was flavorful but maybe a little on the dry side but still was pretty good. The meatloaf was good as well. I can't remember when our family started learning and ate at Golden Corral, I wanted to say it was when I was in Boy Scouts and our troop meetings sometimes got held there, but my parents insisted on it was when I started college and they found this buffet restaurant that just seem to solve everyone's problems. The problems being finding something for everyone. Golden Corral is your American food buffet. Which contains pot roasts, BBQ briskets, roast beef as the main meat dishes, but also have pulled pork, chicken (fried), fish (also fried), shrimp (you guessed it, fried), along with comfort food sides (mash potatoes with gravy, French fries, Macaroni and Cheese, fried okras, etc.). They have a salad bar, and also some dessert section that has cobblers and a soft serve ice cream machine. Something that kind of sets it apart from other similar places, is that you get your drinks first as you walk into the restaurant, be it soft drinks, ice tea, or plain H2O, then go to the cash register to pay for your buffet. Two thing I always remember about Golden Corral, no matter how long ago I may have last ate there. The bread rolls, freshly baked, is good on its own, and you just might eat several. The soup, stay away, I have not had clam chowder that tasted so salty and so watery, it's like they took some Progresso canned soup (which is typically more watery and lighter than their Campbell's counterpart), watered it down 10x and added more salt for the flavoring. I like clam chowder, but not the one at Golden Corrals. It seems that it doesn't matter which location I went (either the one that closed in Stafford a long time ago, which I didn't find out until we heard about this location) or this my family and I just recently visited, it's the same for these two items. The meats are still pretty good and salad being fresh. The restaurant was able to sit our large party relatively quickly and our waitress was friendly and quite attentive. All in all, we don't eat buffets on normal basis much any more, so this one is probably just going to be a Meh from me. read more

Well hello there let's discuss the food at Golden corral today September 15. They told me that I was supposed to have butterfly shrimp and steak not cut up pork chops to look like steak and the butterfly shrimp. I didn't see no butter no fly it was just regular shrimp you get at H-E-B For like five dollars a bag and it is awful because they don't cook it all the way through and that dough in the inside is just nasty and I need to tell you that they had 90 breast for you to eat. No chicken wings no drumsticks no short thighs, and it was awful because everybody didn't eat breast . Oh, and don't waste your three dollars on that new lemonade they have now because it is nasty. You might as well just get a soda because you're not gonna leave like it is too much sugar and you can't even taste the watermelon. I asked him to put some more barbecue chicken out. It was not all the way done. I saw him put it in another oven to warm it up and it was not done. It just was nasty. I am not sure what's going on at Golden corral? I've been checking the website to see when the Rosenberg Golden Corral would reopen after the second closure because of the covid pandemic and was surprised to see several less than flattering reviews. We live near this restaurant and have eaten there at least once a week since the freeway location opened several years ago. I couldn't imagine ever rating this less than 4 stars of all the times we've been been there and giving it 4 stars would have only been a time when the the service was slow due to it being full. You see this happens because it's such a happy and fun place to be because food and service is always so good. Don't just take my word for it just look at all the happy customer faces the next time your there. Oh one more thing, we drove by and found the restaurant had just reopened last Friday. On June 8th I made a reservation at the Rosenberg, TX Golden Corral with a manager named Justin for my gender reveal on Sunday July 28th from 2-5 pm. On July 27th I received a call from management and verified that the space would still be needed for that date and time. On July 27th I also asked if I could arrive 30 min early to set up for the event. I was told that would be fine. On the day of the event while driving from Killeen, TX I called the restaurant at noon to verify that I could arrive early and set up for the 2-5pm reservation. Again I was told the room would be ready and vacated for 25 guest by 1:30 pm. However when I arrived at 1:39 pm and informed the front cashier that I had reserved the back room for 25 guest she looked uneasy. She informed me that they were aware of my reservation but the restaurant had gotten really busy so people were seated back there. I asked to be shown the room. As I'm entering the room I reserved I noticed they are JUST NOW seating a family of 10 along with 5 other tables completely filled with families. None of those families would be done eating in 2 hours let alone the next 15 minutes. When I finally spoke with the manager Jonathon he was not apologetic and he was not reassuring. His first words to me were, "They should've never booked that room for you today at this time. You will have to share that room." I quickly responded, "That is not my problem. I booked this room almost 2 months ago. I called to verify it's availability today at noon. But since you're saying I have no other choice but to share a room that was supposed to be reserved only for me and my 25 guest, what accommodations are going to be made for my inconvenience?" I asked if a discount would be given but that was denied. So I let the manager know that he should be prepared for 25 bad reviews, Jonathan's response to that was "Are you going to stay or are you going to leave?" After that unprofessional response I left to see if the Denny's restaurant around the corner had space for 25 guest. They did. When I returned to Golden Corral around 2:10 pm they only had cleared one table for 10 which was located right in the middle of the other filled tables. That one table alone would not accommodate me and my 25 guest. So I left and went to Denny's. Jonathon is a terrible manager. He handled me (a pregnant lady btw) and the situation poorly. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Instead I would recommend the Denny's around the corner. read more

Every year I try and take advantage of free meal offers on Veteran's Day, and every year I get swindled because if you read the fine print, most places do not actually offer a free meal, but instead a free appetizer, a free desert, or a free meal from a limited menu with smaller portion sizes. Is it really too much to ask that one day a year, I get a free meal for the sacrifices I made in times of war? I mean, it's a win-win for all involved. Most veterans will bring friends and family who will pay for their meal, you will capture many first time customers who might have never otherwise visited your establishment, and you get good publicity for being grateful to the men and women who selflessly serve our nation. But as usual, corporate greed reigns, and the desire to profit from a holiday designed to honor our war-fighters trumps any sincere gratitude towards our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines. This year my family wanted to have lunch with me on Veteran's Day, so I heard that Golden Corral treats veterans well. But again, the fine print stated that the free meal was only after 5PM. I wanted to leave, and not give them my business, but my parents were hungry, so we stayed and paid for my meal. I wonder how much they made from veterans coming in for a free meal, and then staying after being told it didn't start til 5. I saw quite a few people sporting veteran and military hats and shirts. I hope they feel just as swindled as me and never come back. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because one of the cooks thanked me for my service, and the carrot cake was pretty good. read more

The last time my wife and I were there we got Senior discount. I am a Vietnam veteran and unfortunately they don't offer veteran discounts so we were told. Service was excellent. Good food choices, and how can anyone complain for what you pay you get all you can eat. My only complaint, customer's who fill there plates and then leave with most of it untouched. I see more waste in restaurants then I ever saw in the Army or growing up. Then they gripe about the food and service. Hey remember there are people homeless and hungry out there, do be thankful for what you get. We enjoy Golden Corral every time I have a VA appointment. Never had bad food or service. We had a wonderful server, but a different server came over to our group and was extremely rude to my child, calling him out for something he did in front of everyone. Being SERVsafe certified, I am knowledgeable with sanitary dining conditions. The food bar was just gross. Food everywhere, sticky tables. I cant even believe how ridiculously loud the restaurant was. The floors were filthy, the forks you could tell had most likely not been thoroughly washed and sanitized. Well if I could give it 0 stars I would. First of all, the cashier has no common courtesy. She asked if our 1 y.o. daughter was ours. I told her yes....she proceeded to say...wow you started old. I just smiled and didn't say anything. Yes I am an older parent, yes I have other children who were probably her age, but still keep your trap shut. I should have said something but I didn't. I know she didn't mean malice behind it but there are times when words hurt peoples feelings. Second, floors were dirty, the counters were dirty, and the food barely warm on some of the dishes. Third, if you go to the establishment, please do not use the silverware next to the bathrooms. Yes there is a story why. My daughter had an accident and needed to be changed. Since there isn't a baby changing station in the woman's bathroom (yes parents there isn't) you have to wait for the fat man who is in the family bathroom (that has the baby changing station)without a family who is dropping a deuce in there. While I was standing outside the bathroom, a waitress comes over and seeings I'm standing here for a while. I had knocked and nobody answered. She knocked as well and nobody answered. So she proceeded to take a knife from the table by the bathroom from the setting that's in the plastic bag out and use it to open the outside lock on the door handle. She opened the door and the fat man pushed it back in her face. So I waited til he left....the waitress takes the knife and puts in back in the plastic place setting it was in on the table. Yes you read that right...the knife she just used on the door handle went right back to the table for someone to use. Needless to say this GC will not get our business again. read more

We had to leave the restaurant because someone felt the need to bring a dog in. This was not a service dog. My husband and myself are highly allergic to animals. We choose where we go eat very carefully seeing as that carrying a animal with you has become so popular as of late.my husband got sick had to go out to the truck and take his inhaler.
