Noticed a couple months ago that the food was different. Big thing I noticed then was the broccoli tasted like from an Asian restaurant - too much lemon n some new seasoning. Today, was the last straw. $50 for lunch for 2 and was barely edible. My chicken fried steak was so tough. I can't recall ever getting food like this from Longhorn. But the broccoli was back how it used to be and the mashed potatoes were still good. The bread just tasted old. My daughter's baby back ribs were 90% fat. She eats these a lot and they're never like that. The rice pilaf got changed to I don't know what. It was a weird yellow color, had red peppers and didn't taste nor look anything like rice pilaf. That leaves only 2 restaurants on that side of town that have never disappointed us - Pappadeaux's and Gringo's. Guess it's Mexican and Seafood from now on. And y'all don't go blaming the economy or some other BS when y'all close up from lack of customers. 99% of restaurants that go under are from their own doing. Longhorn Steakhouse is one of my favorite moderately priced steak houses. The food quality with respect to price makes it a good value. All staff members are friendly and engaging from host to servers. My preference is to sit at the high top tables in the bar area. The cocktail menu is somewhat limited but their bartenders are trained to make most drinks without being stumped. Happy hour with a bourbon manhattan and chicken wings isn't a bad way to end the day there. read more

I arrived at the restaurant crossing my fingers they would still accept my Togo order due to it being 9:30. I've been a server and manager before so I know the cringe of late comers lol Amelia and Ivan were both welcoming hostess. Daniel (manager) and Jocelyn (to-go server) helped with placing my order and gave complimentary beverages while we waited. I troubled Tim (bar) for a refill and he did so without a doubt. Horrible service all around I went in with a party of 8. Was told I needed half the party to be seated 4 walked in with us and they continued to seat other parties before us. Until I mentioned half of 8 is 4 is it not? And the host still said it wasn't half? After getting seated our server took almost 30 plus minutes to get our beverages out. I had the pleasure of being served by Cleopatra. It was entertaining to watch her come flying from around the corner with plates of food going from table to table. Yep, she was that busy but she managed to stay attentive to me. I think she gets an adrenaline rush from being so busy; I would. I came here for a lunch meeting with a half dozen people. I knew I was going to be late and walked in 30 mins after it started. When I walked in there was no staff at the door so I just wandered around to find my group. To my surprise, the table didn't even have bread yet. We order another 15 minutes later. I realize I don't have silverware and ask the waitress who relays the message to another person. No one ever brings me silverware, but an extra set is out on the far other end of the table from me. While my steak salad looks nice, I ordered the meat medium rare and as the picture shows it's well done. We asked for extra bread, but there was no knife to cut it with. LH steakhouse gets a solid 3.5 stars. Customer service was great. Our waitress was attentive and checked up on us often. The food had great flavor too. However, the overriding theme for most of the food we ate was that it had a heavy hand of salt on it. I did mention this to our waitress, who then stated that we could request less salt on our food the next time we visit. For a few items, they weren't salty at all. I will emphasize these as we go through what we tried: Complimentary bread: this was ok. I preferred the soft and pillowy rolls at Texas Roadhouse. Corn tortilla soup: it had a nice southwestern flavor to it. It was salty, though. Shrimp and lobster chowder: creamy with a decent amount of shrimp and lobster. I liked the corn bits throughout. This was not salty. Mac and cheese: creamy with a nice crusty topping. This was not salty. Loaded baked potato: Delicious with all the fixings mixed in together. This was not salty. Ribeye steaks: Great charbroiled steaks and cooked to the right medium rare temperature. But, heavy on the salt. I had to eat my baked potato in alternating bites to the steak to overcome the hit of salt. LH burger: Delicious and beefy! Loved this burger. It was cooked to medium rare. But, my lil bro would've preferred it cooked to medium next time to get a firmer burger texture. Otherwise, it was a great burger. This was not salty. The bun was fluffy and the veggies inside were fresh. Seasoned fries: crispy and fragrant. But, again too salty. Overall, we liked it here. Next time, we will definitely request less salt. Disappointing. Chicken Fried Steak shattered from improper breading and could not be cut with the knife provided. The manager, Josh, stopped by our table to check on us. After inspecting the inferior CFS, he launched into a pedantic explanation of a new egg white batter that wasn't working!! I had to interrupt this riveting egg wash discussion to show him that my filet ordered medium was so rare it was still grazing. We replaced the CFS with a burger which was OK. My replacement filet was more rare than the first one. Our meals were eventually comped as they should have been. However, we go to restaurants to temporarily forget our troubles and relax. Apparently, this is the pre-show spot for Smart Financial goers. We stopped in last night before the Joan Jett & BRYAN ADAMS concert. We sat at the bar and received great service. Their prices are decent and the atmosphere is nice with Texas decor. We had the Wild West Shrimp and the White Cheddar Stuffed Mushrooms with our wine. Both appetizers were good. The shrimp is a little bigger than popcorn shrimp. I was expecting slightly larger. The mushrooms got a little cold before arriving to us, so the cheese was a little gummy. The flavor was good for both items even considering the small issues. 4 glasses of wine and 2 appetizers was $63.59 (before tip). I've been to other locations and they are all pretty good. Can't go wrong with Texas decor. The property itself is very clean and manicured well. Side note: the phone at the bar rang and rang and rang. I actually picked it up to tell the person no one was taking the calls. The bartender came over and handled it when she saw me answer. As I figured, the person was calling to make a pickup order. So, if you are calling to do a pickup, you may not get someone on the line. This did not impact me personally, so I am not rating on that factor. Just letting people know what I observed. read more

While I called the restaurant 30 minutes ago. Today is my wife's birthday and she chooses your restaurant for her birthday They told us on the phone that we should be there in 20 minutes. I came here at the restaurant and they said that I have to wait another 30 minutes since the person who picked up didn't sign my name in the list. So I asked the lady why should I wait since I already called in. She said sorry we can't do anything about it. Then I asked her to talk to the manager she claimed that she was the manager I responded that's very sad Then I asked her if I can speak to the store manager. She gave me his business card and told me that I can call him anytime since he can't come out to talk to us. Barbi says most of her clients have a Shorthorn, but we're not talking about at the moment. We actually like Longhorn, although I'm not into steaks in general, but I think they generally have really good products, and the prices are okay - somewhere in the middle but not bad considering the taste, which is usually really good and better than Outback. Having said, this location does have some trouble with staff and management, so I gave it three stars instead of four, even though we enjoyed at least one out of our two meals here so far. It's located right next to our family's house so I'm sure there will be more trips. read more

I was done when I thought about taking a picture. However it was so juice and tender. Oh Yeah I also had the loaded baked potato and a house salad. They were very good as well, but the STEAK was by FAR the STAR of the meal.. I will definitely be going back. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the bussers were very quick to cycle out the next guests, especially the girl with glasses, who seemed to be very experienced with her job. So I went to longhorns for Palm Sunday and my nephew drop a mint candy on the floor and someone stepped on it the manager came up to me and said if this continues I'm gonna have to refuse you service I apologized to him and my sister in law asked for a broom to clean up the mess he again looked at me and said do you understand that I'm gonna refuse you service if this continue I again told him I understand and apologize he goes on again 3 more times to try and intimidate me and then I walked out of the restaurant very upset and embarrassed my nephew was crying it was a horrible experience I will never eat at longhorns on Sweetwater and 59 they are horrible people . read more

I haven't had much luck at steakhouses recently. Is a rare steak really that hard to get right? Well, I can say they got mine cooked properly here. Even though it was busy we got seated fairly quickly, with our server not too far behind. Drink orders made, bread and butter on the table and time to get our order in. New York Strip rare & Rib Eye medium. Both steaks arrived cooked precisely as ordered. Rice pilaf not overcooked nor dry. Rib eye topped with melted butter soaked up with mashed potatoes, not too bad. Service was excellent, server came around every few minutes to insure glasses were kept full. I've only been to Longhorn twice. The first time, I went to the one in the Clear Lake area and the second time, I came here to the Sugarland location. The reason why I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars is because I'm BIG on cleanliness. There was a wait for a party of 2. We was quoted a 40 minutes but it was whaaat shorter than that. I appreciate that, I really be quoted over than under so great. The seater was initially gonna sit us a booth but I politely asked for a table. Not a problem; there was table available near by. The table was half cleaned, meaning there was crumbles in the seat and a napkin under the table. That just bothers me because I like to eat and enjoy my food in a clean area but it wasn't a big deal for me to raise concern or to get another table. Our server, I believe his name was Muhammad was very nice and polite. Soft spoken but was good at his job. I ordered the Parmesan chicken and it was fantastic with the rice pilaf. I also got a Caesar salad as a side, however, it was drained in dressing which was annoying and a turn off. I didn't even finish all of my salad because of the amount of dressing.
