The food was good, and the service was adequate. my issue was that the AC was dripping water just outside of our table, and I was concerned that the water would contaminate our order when brought to our table, but the person who brought our meal setup out side of the area.. While the service was great, I think the food was extremely salty for our palette. My 16 oz prime rib was cooked to medium rare, but my au jus was quite salty. My recommendation is to ask for your steak not to be seasoned so you can season to taste on your own with salt instead of the au jus. The blooming onion appetizer was also very salty. The only appetizer that was not salty was the bread, but this was quite dry. I think the next time I come here, I will order a smaller, unseasoned prime rib (12 oz) since I'm likely going to eat appetizers and bread. Yes, the food was good for large groups and family friendly. We came with a group with small children for lunch and the service was good overall. For lunch we ordered a steak salad, shrimp Caesar salad and appetizer wings and fried mushrooms. The food took a while due to large group and some of us got our food earlier and some had to wait. Overall, this is a good family spot for kids. Would I go back here just for myself? No and don't make me tell you now lie...LOL. We stopped here for the first time for a late lunch on Saturday and it was pretty quiet. I remembered the fries from a while back (I haven't visited in years) and I was a little disappointed because I remember them being amazing but they really weren't... the cheese was a bit hard & tasteless & they just didn't look the same. Outback used to be one of my favorite chain restaurants growing up, but I think I may have finally out grown them. Decided to come here for reasonably priced dinner one night that we didn't want to cook. It was busy at the time so we sat at the bar. The bar wasn't very clean, but we opted not to wait for a table. I had the queensland chicken and shrimp pasta and it just wasn't hitting as I thought it would. Pretty bland overall, although the chicken and shrimp were cooked well. The chicken was heavily season so lots of flavors ! The sweet potato was very soft. Service was alright. It was a Wednesday night and I think they underestimated how many people came for dinner. We had multiple people come check on us to make sure we are taken care of, a bit odd for this type of place but not a stranger to it. The table and chairs are clean. Place wasn't too loud. American food because they surely do not offer Australian cuisine.... let's call a spade, a spade, shall we? This was one of the places my parents took their four little rug rats to after church, choir practice, or football practice for my brothers. They filled us up on that blooming onion we were probably too young to appreciate but somehow we always seemed to demolish it. That with the brown bread they served at the right temperature. That stood no chance! My health conscious parental allowed our gluttony to take wings! Then came the food. We were ribs and chicken little ones. Anyone would do and most of the time we had half and half. It may have been my under developed palate that really enjoyed my meal accompanied by those mediocre fries and the delicious mixed vegetables. For dinner we had their offerings of cake and ice cream- maybe their brownie, and we left happy. Outback is still somewhat of a treat for me. I still like their ribs, macaroni and cheese and their mixed vegetables! Their chicken wings are very good as well as their coconut shrimp in that tangy sauce. Every now and then I will get a ribeye nut I usually don't because their rib eye cut is not the best. A litte water with extra, extra lemons and you have got a great meal. This location just opened yesterday. Of course they are still working through the learning curve, however the hostess greets you promptly at the front door & the servers were attentive. Drinks; Cocktail list had several $7 all day cocktails plus other premium cocktails. Got the maple old fashion. It was served with smoke & covered top. It was good. Disappeared too Fast. The bartender carefully measured as I'm sure they were trained.. They actually had 3 bartenders to keep the drinks moving. Water is served in heavy glass mugs. They have a decent wine by glass selection with 6 & 9 ounce pours available. Prices are very reasonable for their cocktails & wine. They have premium drinks Food: Ordered shrimp on the barbie with double mixed vegetables instead of rice & the mixed veggies were yellow squash, zucchini & carrots. Veggies were fine. Not highly seasoned but not bland. Not mushy or too a la dente. Tasted like they had butter on them. I did add salt & pepper. Grilled shrimp with tail on was well seasoned & cooked just right. Actually a good portion size with 16 pieces. My husband got the blooming chicken which he said was very very well seasoned & good. If you have had the blooming onion appetizer, it's the same batter on the chicken. The menu says seasoned rice and it was surprisingly well seasoned with onion, red peppers & other spices. It was tasty. Payment: They boxed our leftovers at the table & we paid the bill at the table. All in all a good experience. If you've been to an Outback before it's typical Outback standard. Atmosphere: It has a moderate energy level and up tempo music playing. The inside is actually a little smaller than I would have imagined so I am sure it will get pretty crowded as people learn that it is open. The staff here are super friendly and frequently check up on you. Had a great experience today and our food was amazing. Wife did the surf and turf special. My son ordered the bloom burger or something and it looked great. My steak was cooked to perfection. Chili could have been a bit hotter but still tastes great regardless. I ordered the 3 course meal, the potato soup, the 6 oz sirloin steak, the ny cheesecake with raspberry sauce and shiraz wine. The waiter said my meals come meal came with 2 appetizers... it doesn't say so but he insisted. So I added the walnut blue cheese chopped salad. My daughter had the jr sirloin steak With fries and strawberry lemonade. We also got the bread. My daughter ate almost all my baked potatoes soup but she complained her steak was too spicy-- they added too much pepper to her steak. Mine was too peppery too and too salty. I ate mine. We told the waiter and he remade her plate. The chopped salad was delicious. Oh the soup and salad came out first so by the time the steak came out, I had the steak by itself. It was weird to me to do that and not have any sides. Anyway, when the bill came out , they forgot to comp one of the kid's steaks bc they redid it and charged me for both of my daughter's steaks. The manager fixed that. Then I noticed the Cobb salad was an extra $2.99 and not actually included in the 3 course meal. Apparently you do only get 1 appetizer like I had thought. I just let that be. We came from the Pacific Northwest and have dined at numerous Outback restaurants. We hadn't been in awhile, but had a gift card to entice us back. First time experience at an Outback in TX. Is it a newer facility? I think maybe so, but instead of fumbling at newness, the staff rocked at welcoming, informing and serving, from hostesses to servers, to managers. (And we didn't have to ask for brown bread, it appeared like magic!) Ok, the food: Great portion size, cooked as requested. Appetizers of mushrooms and Mac & Cheese Bites, followed by Sheila Fillets and Roundhouse Steak with loaded bakers and broccoli. One-eighth a demerit point: My broccoli was slightly over steamed, but still good, I prefer al dente. The strawberry-kiwi lemonade was sweet and tart (I always add more water) and was a one-time, no refills order. I asked if I could have seconds of regular lemonade and was told I would be billed as an additional order. Not great, but my husband ordered pink lemonade, so once I slurped through mine, I just shared his. Ambiance: We went on a Sunday early afternoon, so there was plenty of space; the music in the background wasn't cranked up, conversation was easily had and we hung out for a bit after our meal. I ordered a delicious French onion soup that was the best I have ever eaten, The onions were caramelized, the soup was topped with a thick crusty bread and the gory cheese was abundant. We visited the new outback in Richmond. This is newly opened and our experience was definitely poor. There was no wait to be seated, and our server appeared quickly and took our drink order and appetizers - then was nowhere to be found. The appetizer came and was eaten along with bread (twice) - but he had not taken our order. I summoned the hostess who got our server to come take our orders; we got the salads shortly and then someone delivered the steak - but without the potato which comes with the meal. After our server finally checked - we asked what had happened to our potato. His response was that only one side came with the steak - evidently either the system or the server never read the menu. After apologies two of the sides (a sweet potato and a mac&cheese) came in about 5 minutes but the third took another 5 minutes to appear. We were told no baked at mashed potatoes were available). While the steaks were cooked properly (med rare) the seasoning was way too heavy- such that my wife and daughter didn't want to eat much of them. "Fire mouth seasoning" The check arrived after a while - but evidently outback hasn't upgraded to kiosks and requires the customer to manipulate the small terminal - and there was no way to indicate (include) our outback account or provide feedback. All in all, the food was forgettable, service was terrible, and the systems need to be fixed or modernized. We won't be hurrying back. Texas Roadhouse is far better service, systems, and food for similar prices. Oh yes - we were charged full price - with apologies. This was one of our worst restaurant experiences in the last couple of years! I hope they cleanup their act quickly! read more
