I made the mistake of eating I. The Rosenberg location yesterday. I picked up a takeout order at the drive through. 3pc dark meat combo and an order of 12 gizzards. Total $19.50 The two thighs were almost burnt on the outside and the middle close to the bone was raw. Meat would not pull off the bone. Gizzards were same overcooked batter but overdone inside. The cooking oil was so bad that it ran down our arms. I am a local and will not go back because of the incredibly bad food and the chance to get sick from improper cooking. read more

The food is a hit and miss, also seen one of the workers with a pitcher of water poring it into the rice sitting in the buffet area, instead of taking it to the back and fixing it. The Mac-n-cheese is always running and has no flavor. Should add more sweet treats options as well. read more

I don't know how I can't give this place 5 stars. It's a fast food chain with a buffet inside. If you expect top-quality food every time, then don't go to a fast food place. That being said, our food was amazing our last visit. Chicken was phenomenal and don't skip out on the fried fish! Sides were well done, and the people at the counter were very kind. I recommend trying for yourself if you do want a good chicken/southern style buffet. It's a steal at $15. Comes with a drink too! read more

I just stoped here to get a quick bite and it did not disappoint. The customer service is top notch and I saw one of the employees help carry out an order with an elderly lady. It's clean with staff always checking on the bar to make sure nothing is in disarray and my food came out fairly quickly. I'll definitely be coming back with friends and an empty stomach. read more

In Rosenberg running errands we were actually looking for a place to get breakfast and I happened to see this Hartz which I've been to before years ago. Don't know what possessed me but I decided to stop in at a weird hour. Right after breakfast and just before lunch. As we walked in my wife asked the young lady at the front counter what time they opened and she said 10 am! That early for a lunch buffet. Interesting. Any how the table was decked out and we were probably the first or second customer in. I was hungry and everything looked good! The chicken was actually pretty good! Good taste! The mashed potatoes, green beans and macaroni and cheese were all hot and complimented the chicken well! Hey it's a Hartz buffet! Not sure why all the other reviews were so negative. I actually found the food good. The people friendly and the place clean! These Hartz buffets are rare. You hardly see them anymore but I had always liked them. Not gourmet or high falootin' food but satisfies the appetite! As we were there, the place started filling up with locals and you can see this place is popular! Never really dissapoints, chicken is "usually" fresh, we eat the tenders mainly and that's what goes the quickest there so they are always fresh. This time we had to wait a littke bit for some more of them, like i said they are the best there. Rolls are always awesome, Buttery and fluffy! The sides are great never the same other than the normals: mashed potatoes, gravys, beans rice... this time they had green bean casserole which was great, corn, chicken tomato stew, some cornbread, and this stuffing (unfortunately was dry) In love with the pico de gallo there so yummy.. I like spicy. Now if only they had spicy choice of the tenders I would be great. The place is clean, staff is very friendly and quick, they talk amongst each other loudly, but it doesn't bother me because if I went up there they stopped and attened to whomever was there. (This seemed to bother the table next to me.. I just rolled my eyes, they whete laughing and having fun no worries) The jello with fruit was awesome, my husband enjoyed that! I only go to Hartz for the fried chicken livers and gizzards. They're the only place I know of locally that sells them. Those I would give 5 stars. On Tuesdays, this location offer's them for $1 off. The rest of the food is typical Southern fare, but is fairly bland. If you get there, shortly after opening, all of the steam table food is fresh. read more

Really not even worth one star. Today is Monday and on Monday they offer steak fingers. The tray was empty so when I paid for my meal I asked if they could bring some out. After an hour I was still waiting, I asked a total of 3 times for them. I had one piece of chicken and some sides. Everything was salty. Another lady that got there 5 min after me asked for fried chicken wings which are on the Buffett daily. After her asking 4 times in about 50 min they finally came out. She served her plate full, ate one and walked out. I take it they were salty too. I decided to walk out too, never got the steak fingers. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place. This place used to be decent, today it was just some young kids in the kitchen that were loud and arguing about how much they got paid and why they felt they needed more. I grew up on eating Hartz famous chicken and so did my God parents who are in their late 80s. On 7/11/15 around 9:44p we ordered almost $30 worth of food. The drive thru attendee made sure they took our money just to say "the lady THREW most of the side food AWAY." We would have left however my parents hadn't eaten so we continued with the order. When we left my dad didn't get his food so I immediately called. Lupe who was the manager said to call Maria the next day which I did. I explained to Maria what happened and to express we had to share our food, how I didn't live near Hartz for her to say we can replace the order that wasn't given. I was not happy b/c going back in gas cost that amount of the food. At that time I was given the owner's name Jerry and Angela who wasn't compassionate or understanding. However he did offer me to come back and they will take 50% off my purchase. We will NEVER go back. The service was Horrible especially to the Elderly. I'm not sure how come they didn't replace the whole order when they are going to throw it away anyway. These are the times where they only care about your money and not you as a customer. DO NOT EAT THERE ESPECIALLY THE ELDERS! I wouldn't recommend Hartz Chicken in Rosenberg Tx to my worst enemy. read more
