Herd lots of bad things of this place but wanted to check it out my self , it was super crowded the day I went and they had really big problems filling up food that was empty , then the ices cream machine didn't had any cover , who knows how many bugs or stuff will land inside that , that was a big alert ,. Facts : Always busy. Always fast. Always like suuuuuper fresh because its all being dished out by customers so quickly. They do breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dinner is by far the busiest. This location is great. Lots of room and fast service. Pay for the buffet, find a seat and the waitress of that section will find you and keep your drinks full. Those waitresses work hard busing those tables and keeping you ready to lay down another plate of delicious food. I go for the proteins in lots of meat and fish. Golden Corral was founded in 1971 by James Maynard and William F. Carl. The first Golden Corral Family Steak House opened in 1973 in Fayetteville North Carolina. The early Golden Corrals were steak restaurants, not all you can eat buffets. In the 1980's Golden Corral rebranded and expanded to include a buffet with 160 hot and cold items. During this time the restaurant added the Brass Bell Bakery. A brass bell used to ring every 15 minutes when the hot rolls were ready. Those fresh rolls are still my favorite bakery item. The Company is privately owned and in 2015 Lance Trenary was appointed CEO. As other all you can eat buffets saw their sales declined, Golden Corral operated on a 100 year plan for the company making their decisions for the long term instead of cutting corners for a quick profit. Golden Corral began instituting a remodel that has been shown to generate better sales for the company. The new design makes the buffet area more attractive and shows an open kitchen. 30 of the 489 locations received the updates in 2018. Obviously Golden Corral was struck hard by the Covid Pandemic. The restaurants near me still have permanently closed. It is sad to see the weeds overtaking the abandoned building in Pompano. I had so many good memories there of family meals while my daughter was growing up. Everyone can pick what they like from the over 150 menu items. It seems like the Golden Corrals north of me and in the center of the state have managed to survive. At first they all shut down and then they started reopening as take out and a cafeteria style restaurant but this model was not sustainable in the long run because they couldn't turn a profit with the number of workers needed to serve the food. There are now 396 locations left post pandemic including this one in Winter Haven near Legoland. We ended up here on Christmas while picking up a Christmas present in Lake Wales. This Golden Corral was renovated in 2020 with an exterior and interior redesigned that included new lighting, carpeting, landscaping and internal layout. They offered the standard all you can eat carved meats, fried foods, salad, seafood, steak, vegetables, sides, their famous buttery rolls, and dessert. The women's room floor was flooded but the rest of the restaurant still looks new and bright. Shout out to our hard working server Laci who was attentive and sweet while working on Christmas. This restaurant would not let me bring my own water in with having health issues and being unable to drink any water/ drinks in this state, so the GM at this store because of the actions of other patrons has made their GM discrimination against me. Even after explaining to him he still didn't budge , but I have set & watched others steal the drinks in their personal cups. When you walk in Fred the cashier was very friendly and welcoming. He had a smile and answered our questions. The food was fresh. A few things were a little too salty for me but it was fresh. It is great for any one of any age to come here for dinner. You get senior discount. They have a two sided fire place. They do have hand sanitizers for public use. The restrooms were clean. The ambience is amazing. This place is really much bigger than what the other one that I've been in the Bronx. I've seen the desserts look really delicious to Brothers fresh they have these smalls, apple cobbler, bread, pudding, hot chocolate chip cookies, and peanut butter cookies. They have a carving block. They have yellow rice, meatloaf with meatloaf topping penny pasta with Italian sauce. I have pot roast steamed cauliflower and broccoli cheese sauce, taco meat, tortilla chips, cabbage, buttermilk biscuits. I got everything here french fries. They have some shrimp. You get what you pay for. With that said, I did not go in having high expectations knowing that I was going into a $17 dinner buffet. This was my first experience at a Golden Corral, so I don't have anything to compare it to. However, the cashier at the front was very friendly and pleasant. The lady that cleaned the tables was also very nice and always checking on us. The food stations were all fresh and very clean. It was really slow when we went so not sure how they would hold up if it got busy. Most of the food was good and the quality matched the price, so definitely don't expect a gourmet meal of course. Good options on the salad bar and a variety of meats and sides for the dinner. Dessert bar had the standard ice cream machine and a slushy machine as well with a variety of pies and cakes. I haven't been to a Golden Corral since before COVID, this was my first time on this location, looks exactly what you would expect from a Golden Corral, a little dirty. Food was nothing out of the ordinary but you could catch something good from the selection, Service was decent, our waiter did her best considering the volume of people there. This place was PERFECT for buffet and family. Super clean for Covid with napkins to use a utensil and throw away. Food was hot and fresh! So so so happy to see fresh vegetables after a day at Legoland with our kids and the in a rush food everywhere (typical burger and fries or if you're cheap a bagel and cream cheese from the hotel). But, being in Florida on vacation at 8:00 PM with an elderly aunt and a rather large and hangry husband to feed, I aquiesced. I am stunned. This place closes at 9 PM, so I was a little worried when we walked in at 8:15, but I am actually amazed. All food selections were full, and as of 8:30 PM, they were still refilling the selections. The salad bar was huge, clean, and fresh. There is even a station to dress up your baked potatoes. At the grill station, a man in chef whites stood to take your steak order. His medium rare was perfection, and the meat was well-seasoned. The fried chicken was hot and fresh. Super crispy and juicy inside. Fried okra was good, creamed spinach was delicious. OMG. Who knew pot roast could be so delicious? I certainly can't make it like this! The desert bar was fantastic. My husband (a bit of a banana pudding connoisseur, as odd as that is) said it was the best banana pudding he has ever had. Subtle, creamy, and no chemical aftertaste like the canned stuff they usually serve at buffets. We visited Golden Corral winter haven Sunday 3/20/22 6 people 3 kids 3 adults,parking was good,got seated right away. They have a decent selection of food and desserts, As far as value it was just so so,we could have done better at a sit down resturant,it is basically the same as all other buffet type resturants.nothing really stood out. The bathroom had the most horrible smell in it and also it travels to the outside where the food is being served. 2. I eat at the Golden Corral about 2 - 3 times per month. I am a senior and don't know where I could get a better value on a meal. There are 4 courses served with many food choices in each one. Yes they are busy, but that is the price you pay for good food at a more than reasonable price. I suggest that you visit a few times to determine the time that serves you well. Although busier,the whole crew worked hard to keep up with the demand of the food. There was plenty of offerings to choose from. Went there for lunch , and I will never go back. Once up at the buffet , had to go thru multiple plates to find a clean one. Mind u they had only been open a few hours and yet it was very dirty. The plates and silverware I used were all clean, employees were maintaining the buffet line by refilling food and wiping down counters often, and the employees I spoke with were all super friendly. This used to be a nice place when it first opened 2 years ago, not anymore! Went with my sister, no line to get in and you now seat yourself, many tables were dirty with dishes, carpet was filthy (which could be shampooed at night and swept during the day), workers were sorting dirty dishes at the tables and putting silverware in sanitizer, yuck! Food was not good, not appetizing looking and definitely overpriced, 2 ppl Sunday $31 with servers? who do nothing but bring refill drinks looking for tips. I don't particularly go to buffets and this restaurant is the reason why. My family and I were extremely disappointed since anytime we are in a rush to get back home to Georgia we stop at a Golden Corral, we hadn't been to this one. They don't particularly have a variety of food like many of the others I have attended. It would have been a bit better if their have been a LOT more food to choose from rather than a minimum amount . This place is actually small and too cramped up for the amount of people that was there . There should be more room for bigger families of 5 or more. I would say though that our waistress was great ! I came here for breakfast with my boyfriend and his parents and it was literally the worst experience I have had at any restaurant. We had to scrounge through several plates to find a clean plate, ask for plastic utensils since all theirs were dirty, food was cold and what was worst was when I saw an employee who was obviously under the weather sneeze near the food and not cover their mouth and wipe his face on his sleeve. Saw adds for Shrimp Week. So we decided to go to closest one in Winter Haven, arrived at 7:30. They were out of Butterfly shrimp, and the other fried shrimp was under cooked. The tomatoes on the salad bar were on the turn. The steak was full of grizzle and over spiced. The soup was just room temperature. First time going to this restaurant since moving here! Great selection!! The only problem was when the food was replenished the old was not removed and replaced by new, it was placed on top?
