Fish and shrimp was ok fish cooked well no seasoning I order the 2 for 11 gyro which the drive thru lady said they didn't have it was 2 for 13 even though the sign in front of the building ver clearly stated they did. Calamari cooked ok batter light and crispy no but very bland. Overall if there's nothing else around it's ok but it's expensive for what it is and over lacking any flavor. We decided to stop somewhere that we had never been for dinner. So this place took quite awhile and we went through drive thru. Let me tell you, it was worth the wait. The fries were perfect...perfectly crisp and perfectly salted. I had a chicken philly and it was HUGE!!! I ate it with a fork. Tried without the fork and kept failing. My boyfriend ordered jalapeño poppers and they were made with cheddar cheese and they were delicious. They messed up and gave him sweet tea when he asked if they had unsweetened (we're from Mi, we don't like sweet!), but even that mishap was easily overlooked with the taste of the food. This was our first time driving thru for food and it was delicious. The Philly cheesesteak was fresh and the fries were hot and the seasoning was so yummy. Fried shrimp was fresh and tasty. Our lunch at Salem's in Winter Haven was such a pleasant surprise- far better than expected and made me wish we weren't just passing through town! Traveling down the Gulf coast of Florida on Sunday afternoon- we stopped in at Salem's Gyro's and Subs as it had a few cars out in front and looked open. We figured at the very least we could pick up something to drink and use the restroom before getting back on the road. As soon as we walked in the door though - we decided this would be lunch! The restaurant smells amazing! It's clean, bright and they have fresh brewed iced tea! Gyros, sub sandwiches and salads - lots of great options! It was just so refreshing to find "fast food" that wasn't all deep fried junk! I ordered the grilled chicken gyro with a side salad substituted instead of fries. It was excellent! Enough food for two meals! I ended up getting a to-go box for my salad and ate it in the car later. I don't know why the last review complained about an extra charge- that must have been a mistake because when we ordered the cashier asked us which side we preferred: salad or fries. No extra charge. My husband ordered a beef gyro combo with buffalo chicken wings and a side of fried okra! He was absolutely thrilled! I think it's a law or something that when traveling in the South- you have to eat fried okra and drink sweet tea! I'm not usually a fan of okra but Salem's was great! Again- such a surprise! Just went and ordered some food via the drive-thru with my partner: a Philly cheesesteak combo and a seafood platter. I was a little skeptical ordering a cheesesteak so far away from home but I'm seriously impressed. The steak was on a nice roll, the cheese to steak ratio was perfect and the meat had a nice kick to it. The fried were also fresh and crisp. While waiting for our food, my partner noticed the "swap fries for beans and rice" sign and asked one of the workers if it was too late to swap. The gentleman was polite, friendly and made it happen with no trouble. My partner's tilapia was perfect as were the shrimp. This restaurant is singlehandedly the worst customer service EVER. I've traveled to Mexico, and received better service from people I couldn't even understand. What a shame! At night especially! It was dried up to the point it was rubbery and no taste flavor nothing and again the bun so soggy cause of pickle juice and globs of mayo. My dog wouldn't even taste it turned his nose up and looked at me if I was nuts. My husband's dinner shrimp set under a heat lamp for a while chewy and his fish was cold. Now as for the ckn tenders I ordered for my pooch. Spendid ,hot crispy good to go except salty. My dog enjoyed the tenders glad to see him smile. The ad is false the food is kept under a heat lamp or when it does get cooked when ordered doesn't get done and still frozen in the middle. We went here on Christmas because no other place was open. We went through the drive through and I ordered the gyro combo with no tomatoes. It didn't take that long given it was Christmas but we got our food and headed home to visit with family. I opened my box to find a cold gyro with tomatoes (she even asked to make sure if that's what I said) and lukewarm fries and a Coke that was flat. The tzatiki sauce was chunky and nasty looking.
