I got the Cuban (amazing) and the discontent (even more amazing) with the beach fries (kinda boring). The Cuban has a whole peeled cooked garlic which was strange and at least we found it before eating. Food takes its time but it's worth it. I see their amazing weekly deals a lot on Instagram and had to give this place a try! I went on a Thursday evening to get their Cuban ($7 on Thursdays, normally $12) and LOVED it. I'm usually not a fan of pickles, but the sourness balanced well with the savory cheese, mayo, and marinated vegan protein they used. The protein was cooked to the perfect tender, soft and stringy texture. I also got a peanut butter pie to go--while it tasted quite good, it didn't fare well in my car in warm weather on the drive home and the filling slid off of the crust. Service was quick. Good music, good vibes all around. They only had outdoor seating (with shade) though, and in addition to having to swat away numerous invertebrate visitors, I unfortunately got bitten a few times by mosquitoes while enjoying my food. I was debating whether it should be 3 or 4 stars but considering few not so good items I went with 3. We ordered sandwiches, one side and two desserts. The cuban sandwich was good but not great, the Buffalo sandwich was much better, Tempeh was nicely flavored but overall the sandwich was a little too salty. Still better out of these two. We had a side mac n cheese and it was ok, some of the cheese they put was not fully melted. It tasted to me like melted vegan cheese from a bag mixed with overcooked pasta. For dessert they were out of donuts so we grabbed the seasonal sweet potato cheesecake and peanut butter pie. The cheesecake went to trash, it was terrible. Peanut butter pie was good but very sweet. Overall, good I would eat there again if in the area but not very impressed so wouldn't get out of my way to eat there again. read more

I used the Cash App to check in to use the reward for the first very expensive visit. As I said before, the food is good but the first time we visited it was HAPPY employees and no one treated us like crap. That was February 2020. As you can see byy review from then, we loved it. It was ONLY my husband and I at the time. Clearly THAT matters here. After spending $150 plus here...yes on two visits but over $80, our first, and $74 the second...why do you have to treat kids like crap? I would be glad to see VEGAN kids. Y'all apparently just hate. Super bummed I was really looking forward to trying Golden Dinosaur out. I had heard good things. Unfortunately I didn't have a good expierence. The best part of our visit was that the staff were really nice and the place is cute. They have bad squirrel spray, which is really cute. I orderd the Harvey on pumpernickel, fries and a chili dog for my friend . My total was 24,82. Thats high for a mediocre sandwich, hard fries and a chili cheese dog. The Harvey had Tempeh bacon, lettuce, and avocado. The tempeh was black and tasted burnt. The avocado was hard and black , the lettuce was wilted because they press the sandwich with lettuce on it. As for the fries, they were so hard. :-( My friend said the chili cheese dog was good but his reuben was also burnt and there wasn't enough sauerkraut and all he could take was a burnt flavor. No one checks on you to see how everything is. You order your food at a window, sit down and they bring you, your order . Very casual. Super disappointed and I probably wont go back. read more

It's vegan.. all if it.. doesn't mean healthy. So many fried items, not a lot of healthy to choose from. This would be great hangover food when I was in my 20s. Yuc of fries would serve that purpose well. That being said really enjoyed the flavors and the chickpea salad and the woman at the front had recommended that as a healthy choice. This is truly a gem in Gulfport for vegans or anyone interested in delicious comfort food. Everything we tried is decadent and very filling with nice portions and even nicer staff. So I will start out that nobody in my family is vegan. With that being said, we really only went because my wife wanted to try their doughnuts. We bought the Apple fritter, Boston crème, and a peach doughnut. All were fairly bland. There was legit, barely a taste to all the doughnuts. I am giving it 2 stars based solely on doughnuts. But the 3rd star is for their salad and fries, which was actually pretty good. Lettuce was crisp, the vegan cheese was pretty good, and it had nice accoutrements like peppers, onions, olives, and more. The fries came out hot and crispy. This place is so great for fast casual vegan cuisine. I am kind of glad I don't live closer to here because I would be more tempted to come here all the time. Just the vibe of this place is cool also. I am a huge fan of their vegan sandwiches and most of their baked goods. I did have a seasonal donut that slightly missed the mark for me in terms of the yeast doughnut part but it was still good and edible. My daughter LOVES their Mac and Cheese and even though I appreciate they adorn it with parsley I asked for it without and they were very accommodating (child refuses to eat anything green out of principle because she states, "kids don't like vegetables"). She was none the wiser that it was made with plant based ingredients and gobbled up the whole thing. I've had really cool specials so if you are interested to try, please look on their social media for rotating menu items. On my most recent trip there I tried their Cuban sandwich and it was really excellent without even being a mayo fan (I forgot to request to omit). This place was in a super cute area. It seemed like you could only eat outside or to-go which was fine by us. The Mac and cheese was good. Maybe needed a sprinkle of salt. My tofu wrap was super hearty and flavorful. My husband got a chickpea sandwich of some sort which he enjoyed. We split a pastry which wasn't our favorite. The outside was so hard. I'm sure it would be delicious fresh. We enjoyed the garden and walking around the area. Worth the trip over. They also have beer and wine to help you cool off. read more

I want to love this place more. Love the clever name and the playlists. But while tasty, there's hardly any protein on the cuban sandwich, which is really just a glorified grilled cheese: seriously, it's like a 2-3mm sliver. And it's not evident from the menu that it's sietan not pork. Yelp really ought tack "Vegan Deli" on the end of "Golden Dinosaurs," as the establishment itself does sporadically ... like on a single trash can. And the beer - at least the "unbranded guava wheat" I had is just no good. Maybe next time I'll try something else and get a canned beer. read more

When I finally sit down to write my coffee table book entitled The Seven Wonders of the Bay Area Vegan World, Golden Dinosaurs Vegan Deli will easily be the first or second restaurant profiled. Golden Dinosaurs Vegan Deli is definitely not a salad and soup vegan restaurant. While they definitely have at least one soup (and maybe a salad?) they specialize in taking the most creative and wild meat dishes and making them vegan. You'll find lots of sandwiches, fried foods, sides, brunch items and desserts made sans dairy and eggs. My first visit to Golden Dinosaurs was a bit sad because brunch was happening. That meant there were some items that are part of the regular menu that were not available. A number of those items were the ones I really wanted to try. They were running a "spesh" that week on a philly cheesesteak and that was available during brunch hours so I ordered it. It was made from thinly sliced seitan. I was a bit worried because the last time I had a seitan based Philly Cheesesteak, in Philly of all places, it hurt my stomach because of all the gluten. This version did not. The cheese on it was not over bearing and the bread was great. I was pleased all the way around with it. My wife had the Cuban. While it was good, she got it without the mustard so it definitely missed that. We took two Berry Hand Pies, a funfetti cookie (for the kids) and a key lime pie to go. All were amazing, all made me wonder how they could be vegan. On my next visit there was a full menu. I ordered a Parmesan Seitan Sandwich and Chili Cheese Fries. Loved the fried crispiness of the seitan and the pillowy brioche bun. But the star of the show was the chili cheese fries. First, they were waffle cut. That must've helped them stand up to the chili and the cheese because there wasn't a soggy one in the bunch. The chili featured beans and veggies and just a little kick. The cheese was light and really enhanced the whole dish. My wife went with a Bangers and Mash Sandwich (the "spesh") and she was pleased. Golden Dinosaurs makes all their cheeses, faux meats, sides, breads and baked goods in house. They are reasonably priced when compared to other all vegan restaurants around the area. You might not find healthy here, but you will find one hundred percent cruelty free guilty pleasures! read more

Yum yum and uhhhh yum! I only tried one of their donuts and was amazed at how delicious a donut it was. The dough itself tasted the way a real donut should. The frosting was just the right amount and the texture was spongy and not dry like some donuts are at some places. The place looks adorable and funky, you walk up to a window and place your order. A great addition to Gulfport as well as Tampa Bay. This vegan feli/restaurant, owned by ingenious hardworking couple, has made a huge splash and fulfilled a niche. We enjoyed a tasty iced coffee and a pleasant time chatting on the private patio with the fountain, trees and framed artwork. How cool. Saw posted that they also have events. The menu has a nice selection. In addition, the Greek salad looks inviting. The bake goods are beautiful. Cakes, cookies, cupcakes... each prettier than the next. Vegan food that tastes like normal food with no dairy, meat, fish, etc. - this place totally delivers on all of those aspects and makes me feel healthier and better for the planet! To start, I got a Coppertail IPA (Draft) - only $6! I ended up on getting their Challah French Toast - it's def. A big & fluffy serving (they give you 6 of them) & I'm tiny so I loved scoring leftovers. Their Tempheh is simply made (it had lingering BBQ flavors) in house I think - it does need a sauce. You scan QR code to pull up the menu, order at the window and they package your food up in cardboard containers (love that they recycle) on a ledge to pickup to eat outside in their garden. An amazing local spot for true comfort food! In my 32 years I've never tried a Ruben sandwich because I didn't think I would like it... I am so glad I waited until I was vegan and found it at Golden Dino! It was better than I could have ever imagined it with animal products. The fries were hands down the best fries I've ever had, they were made with seasoned waffle fries and were smothered with cheeze and chili. The kids really enjoyed the donuts, which were fresh and soft. My boyfriend had the buffalo chic'n sandwich and that was so good too! I didn't get a picture of it though. We've been coming to GD for years, but lately the projected wait times for orders have been way off! While it's not fast food, a 15-20min wait can quickly become 45+. Today we waited 50 minutes for a Chicky salad and a Cuban. Plenty of good vegan options, no doubt, but be prepared to WAIT (in your car, because all seating is outside). There are so few places where I would say, "nothing here will disappoint you". This is one of those places. On our first visit we got the French dip au jus, the parmesan sandwich, and two chili dogs. This was by far the best French dip sandwich I've ever had, vegan or not. The next morning we had to try their brunch. So many unique items. We had the eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce, biscuits and sausage gravy, and a stack of French toast with banana rampode. Everything was great with my favorite being the eggs Benedict but I would say the French toast was sweet enough without the syrup. Don't drizzle it on, maybe dip a piece in each time like it's sushi and soy sauce? We had a mimosa here for good measure. We had breakfast and dinner so we had to try their desserts. Key lime pie, peanut butter pie, chocolate pie, coconut cream cake and chocolate cherry cake. The overwhelming favorite here was the key lime pie with the least favorite being the coconut cake. There was the consistency of the pie that my family liked the best and is different from mine. I believe they use silken tofu instead of vegan condensed milk. I'll start off with a props on their handling of Covid and social distancing. All outside seating with lots of trees around, so it's not like you're sweating in the Florida sun while trying to enjoy your meal.. you got the nice breeze and lots of shade. Got to order the "secret menu" item of the chicken parm sandwich AKA In Parm's Way ($12.50). So delicious! I'm about a 80% vegan/vegetarian, and literally couldn't tell at all that I was not eating chicken. They added just enough cheese and sauce to make this a sandwich worth raving about. I got a kick out of their water in a can name - Liquid Death ($3). They have plenty of sandwich offerings, as well as sides to make the kind of meal you look forward to eating. As for myself, I am definitely going back to try the Cuban and Philly. The bathrooms are a bit of a headache here, as I walked about 10 minutes to the small beach and used the restrooms there. It's in a fun area - a small strip of restaurants and shops that go on for 4-5 blocks, and did not have any issue with parking. The desserts all looked phenomenal, and I opted for the cinnamon roll - while not the best cinnamon roll I've ever had (just comparing to other vegan cinnamon rolls), it was still fairly fresh and doughy tasting with a fair amount of icing on top. read more

I work with a ALF home full of special needs unfortunately we went ahead and stop by this place to have our guys try something new. We have 13 guys 2 of them can't have just anything so they we had their food a young lady came out and turned us away very rudely. Asked us to place an order togo if we wanted to but we couldn't sit to eat because the guys had their own food and she couldn't have that at her restaurant they are special needs unfortunately we all had to load up and go somewhere else that still would of been 12 guys plus 2 staff members that could have ordered. As I believe I have said on this website before, I am not a vegan. Actually, what I think I said was "bacon" about 1,000,000 times, but it's the same thing, really. On the other hand, while I am a meat eater, I love my partner and she is a pescatarian who eats vegan as much as possible, and because i am the adventurous sort and also a damn good boyfriend, we go to vegan places together with some regularity. Saint Pete is a wonderful city if you're looking for vegan, vegetarian, or veg friendly restaurants, and the addition of Golden Dinosaurs helps solidify that by adding an awesome vegan deli to the Gulfport neighborhood. Not to get on a tangent, but doesn't Golden Dinosaurs sound like they started out as a Chinese takeout but changed their mind before opening and couldn't afford a new sign yet? Either that, or the sign place screwed up their orders and there is a Chinese takeout somewhere with a sign that says, Green Veli (like deli, but with a V cause it's vegan - I'm very creative). So we stopped here with another couple and I got a cuban sandwich with one of our friends, my lady got their buffalo tempeh sandwich, and our other friend got their chicago hotdog specials. We also tried their soup of the day and their ice cream. 100% of everything here is plant based. Please understand I am not comparing this to a cuban sandwich anywhere else. That wouldn't be fair. A regular cuban sandwich from many places - notably Bodega on Central - is much better, but it also isn't vegan. That said, I have had cuban sandwiches before that can't hold a candle to this one. It was that good. My partner's buffalo tempeh was also very good, although I prefer the one at Love Food Central. Our friend with the Chicago dogs really enjoyed his as well. Ice cream wasn't great, but dairy free ice cream is hit and miss. I've had good, and not so good. This was the latter. On top of the excellent food, they have a wonderful courtyard patio with picnic tables and a lot of shade, which is where we sat, and sidewalk tables, too. They are dog friendly. Service was excellent - it is counter service, but they bring you your food when it is ready. They have a small selection of beer, most (if not all, but I'm not sure) local. This is a great addition to Pinellas. The only reason I'm going 4 and not 5 is I as much as I liked it, I do like my vegan sandwiches from Love Food Central more and my vegan meals at Cider Press are better. However, they have a great menu here, and don't let the lack of the 5th star fool you. Just because I like another place a bit better doesn't make this one bad. All the classics that I have missed being veg are turned into vegan masterpieces. My friend and I have already determined that we NEED to try everything on the menu. We ordered the spicy Italian sandwich and the Cuban. Oh my Lordy we're both delicious. We were warned by the front of house employee that the Italian was very spicy and he wasn't kidding - what a kick! But delicious. After our sandwiches we had to get a dessert- I had the shortbread cookie and my friend got the blondes brownie and both were amazing. The inside is small, but they have a lot of outdoor seating. Such a cute place. I'm not vegan so I had never been before but would definitely go back! I stopped by with a friend who works for grow financial to take advantage of the delicious vegan burgers they were giving out. It was a scorcher but they got the line moving right at 12pm. We waited for about ten minutes. The French fries were perfectly salted, hot and crispy. The burger was HUGE. I mean at least an inch thick. Topped with lettuce, tomato, and vegan cheese on a delicious brioche bun. It almost tasted like a real beef burger! It's texture was that of a medium rare burger. I Definitely want to go back and try their vegan desserts and other menu options. Oh I also want to mention the staff was super friendly.
