Pickles, beets, and coleslaw come when you sit down. Delicious. We had a Greek omelet with griddle potatoes and rye toast. A chicken souvlaki with fries, and the largest eggplant parm sandwich I have ever seen with an order of yucca fries cooked to perfection. Portions are enormous. I got food poisoning there. (Wed 8/14/24) Was in a rush on my way to see my doctor, and told the waiter- who was excellent. Took my order and got my order right away. Pastrami sandwich on rye. The meat was cold, wet, unevenly cooked. The bread was soggy and gross. I should have sent it back! But it tasted ok. It's just that the temp and textured were off. Or so I thought. Came here for an early dinner with 2 friends. The place has plenty of parking and seating. The first thing one will notice is how incredibly nice the staff is. Competent, attentive and friendly. The food is fresh, delicious and filling. We even had a chance to converse with the owner who took the time to make sure we were satisfied and just to be friendly. Difficult experience here for us. We stopped in around 4:00 to feed the kids before a kids event. No kids menu at this diner- so we found the prices to be very high for 1 hot dog meal, 1 chicken fingers meal for a 3 & 5 year old respectively. 1 adult ordered 2 poached eggs a la carte but server brought and charged us for a full meal including white toast and home fries which we didn't order, 1 cup of chicken soup for another adult, & 2 cups of coffee, cost with tax & tip $79! Wow! We didn't feel welcome and staff seemed annoyed with our kids who behaved very well for little ones. You only have 1 opportunity to make a good first impression and they really blew it. But I'll give them credit-they did give the kids each a blow pop so that was nice of them. The waiter and bus person were unfriendly. We won't be back. read more

Went for lunch here on Feb 24th of 2024. I had the Reuben Burger and it was moist and delicious. I brought the loin pork chops home for my brother and he loved it, it made 2 meals for him. I also bought the bluebery cheese cake, which was great. I am thrilled that they are showing support for Israel and their hostages by having the pictures on their windows. I love this diner!! (Do I need more? Yea? Okay) So, we've been coming here for many years, long before they expanded and renovated into the beautiful clean bright space they are in today. The food has always been consistent and I appreciate the friendly service. The food is great and like any awesome diner, the breakfast is always delicious. I'm a big fan of their specials. They have a long list of breakfast specials every weekend and there's some pretty awesome and creative menu items. The cranberry walnut French toast is amazing. Made from homemade cranberry walnut bread, it's an excellent reason to eat some carbs. The lunch and dinner items are also as good and they give you massive diner portions. Prices are reasonable and even inexpensive, given how much food they give you. Specials come with lots of extras. They also provide a bread basket and cole slaw or chick pea salad as soon as youre seated. The attention from the staff is awesome. So many friendly people here. Ate there recently- it was fine . PLEASE stop complaining about this place no longer being too CROWDED. The Shed and Hatch have stolen everyone's brunch business on weekends and heck, weekdays too! I like that! Now here, and Munday's will be free for ME to go to without obnoxious Long Island families kicking the back of my booth and that oh so adorable thing that kids do and long inquisitive peer over the back of the booth and just stare, or something -- and the parents do and say NOTHING. GD just had a renovation and contrary to some of the reviews, I found the renovations outdated, inconsistent, noisy and uncomfortable. The two person booths were very tight the table too high for most people. The place had only been open for a coupe of days and it was so dirty; especially the bathrooms. The menus is expansive and some of the items as, or more expensive than some of Huntington's fine restaurants. I ordered swordfish kabob, 29.99, served with very ordinary rice with absolutely no panache. Okay, it's a diner, but on top of that the fish was spoiled; has that stinky smell of rotting protein. The way they handled this was also not very professional; they left it in front of me while the checked with the chef and then the manager. They did comp me the meal, which I didn't eat. If I want a Greek salad or a sandwich, I will come here, but for a satisfying meal I would rather go to one of the many amazing restaurants in town. read more

Middle of the road diner, nothing great. I had a turkey burger and onion rings and was sad that the onion rings had no flavor at all. Should have gotten pancakes! The inside has been recently redone and is bigger then it used to be and nice as far as diners go and our waitress was one of the best waitress's I have ever met, she gave my father in law a lot of extra attention and really put her all into our large party. But, I go for the food and it was just eh. This place has a rather large following with the Huntington old timers and gets very crowded but again, the crowd not warranted as the food is not special. The previous owner sold this diner. Food and service has not been the same and we stopped going. We had gone several times, not knowing the owner changed, and wondered why the food was not up to the usual standards. We use to love going to Golden Dolphin, but food has gone completely down hill. This morning four adults went four breakfast and one of us ordered the stuffed French toast that was listed on specials board. It came and it was literally two French toast with a bunch of syrup and strawberries on it. The waitress could tell we were disappointed and we only took one bite of it. She kept apologizing and brought out a dish of fresh fruit in place. But when are bill came, we still paid the $12.95 for the untouched breakfast. This is the second and last time we will be disappointed by the food here...used to be so much better. read more

By far the best diner in the area. My fave "goto" for a hearty "He-man" (He-woman) breakfast!! The remodel is beautiful!!! The restaurant feels more spacious but retains that comfortable feel to it. It feels very modern and welcoming as you walk through the front door. I've eaten at the Dolphin more times than I can remember and there are two reasons why - first, the dedication to food quality is evident on the plate in front of you, and second, the people are wonderfully friendly and caring, and if something isn't right, they will make it right instantly. I love browsing down the "specials" page - where you find fresh fish (I like the Cajun preparation over grilled veggies), beef, pasta, etc....and all come with a bountiful salad (Greek is great), potato, vegetable, dessert, and a glass of wine if you like as well. The Dolphin is actually my go-to place for fish in Huntington - high quality, and nice portion size, and better than anyplace else in town from a price/quality perspective IMHO. The Dolphin has an army of regulars and most of them get a hug, a kiss, or a handshake from owners Peter and Teddy at the door as they arrive. It's very "family" here and, once you get to know them, you'll be family too. They are in the middle of an expansion into the store-front next door, testament to their years of success and customer loyalty. One of those places you love more and more over time. read more

This is one of our staples in Huntington. It's easy because super kid friendly and I'm consistently impressed with management. On one visit, our food was taking a little while because it was busy, and they brought the kids something to munch on during the wait and gave us free fruit afterwards, with apologies. Then recently, we ordered a kids sphagetti. We didn't want all the things it came with, so they reduced it to a side of pasta, and gave our daughter a cookie she wanted. I offered to pay for it because I didn't think it was right, since we weren't paying for kids meal and she got a dessert. The manager wouldn't let me pay. It shows that little touches go a very long way. They have earned loyal customers in us. And also- the food is solid and good. Eggs always cooked well. When it comes to diners on Long Island, the Golden Dolphin has been around forever, and a go to for many Long Islanders. This place used to be a tiny, cozy diner and has been transformed into a much larger cleaner diner, but in all honesty has lost its charm as a result. The, homey feel you used to get when you came in is gone, and a more standard diner vibe is present. When it comes to diner food there are a few things you can to judge the quality of a diner, coleslaw, the bread basket and breakfast food. I will start with the coleslaw, which I wasn't a huge fan of. It was hit or miss with some people at the table getting saucy and better coleslaw than others. The bread basket, which didn't come out our entrees do to some questionable service. The waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed by a half filled restaurant. The bread in the basket was delicious though, with some pretty good cornbread that tasted even better when I dipped it into some maple syrup. The onion bread was also really good, and was nice and warm. For my entree I ordered the big breakfast and it came with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs (I ordered them over easy), 2 sausage links, and 2 strips of bacon (I ordered extra sausage instead of bacon). The pancakes were fluffy and crispy and tasted great with two runny eggs dripping over the top. The savory eggs and sweet maple syrup on the pancakes was a perfect combination. The sausage links were good, if not a bit greasy though. Although he service was questionable, and the diner has lost some of its charm, the food is still pretty good, although a bit more expensive then some equally good diners. read more
