She actually took two people (a mother and daughter?) who came in AFTER me. When I told her I was there first, she claimed they had already checked in. Clearly, she checked them in when they showed up (the younger of the two stood at the glass until she was acknowledged and then the operator checked her in). Honestly I never wanted to have to leave a bad review because the woman who threads here does a good job on the threading most of the time. However she is not respectful when it comes to honoring your appointment and when it comes to explaining to you how to hold your eye lid during the threading. And honestly her whole vibe is just off. I've been coming here almost a year now. She is always running late because she accepts walk ins even though she has a huge sign that says appointments only and I guess she makes more money that way which I get. But when you make your regulars wait or come back after they have already arrived on time for their appointment (I was early) and still make you wait 15 minutes past your appointed time? No that's disrespectful. And then after all of that to laugh at me when I raised the wrong hand to hold my eyelid and then come back with "Obviously thats why I tapped your other shoulder" ma'am no! And to tell me to stop scrunching my eyebrows together because I look stressed yes because you made me wait over 15 minutes and then stopped ever other minute because people were showing up to their appointments and they couldnt wait any longer so yes you are making me stressed. She has an easy system for checking in and getting credits for your visit. I think after 6 or so visits you get a free threading! Eyebrow threading was $10 and she recommends coming every 3 weeks. Easy parking, location, and convenience of just walking in during her hours without needing to make an appointment or work around limited hours (issues I've encountered when trying to get eyebrow threading elsewhere)! Unfortunately my recent visit was extremely unpleasant, besides the fact she took me in roughly 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment. As she threaded my eyebrow she cut the end of my eye along with pulled several eyelashes. As I was in pain she "tried" to help while touching the inside of my eye knowing there was eyebrow and eyelash hair near the surrounding and not considering cleaning or sanitizing her fingers to "help". I was already bothered at the fact she didn't put it into importance, towards the end of the service I wanted a few extra hairs removed because the finish product were uneven, she refused saying thicker eyebrows were better. In reality, we all pay for a service that we expect to feel confident and unfortunately this recent experience with Uma was not it to return. read more

Golden Eyebrow is now on the ground floor level of EC Plaza, inside Sola Salons. Look for the front-facing unit, with turquoise walls. I've visited multiple times since the move. The old location was upstairs and through a long hallway. I like this location more, and hope it will be a success. Renu has a soft, gentle, yet focused touch. My skin is sensitive and reddens easily, but I feel very confident putting my face in her hands. There is a frequent visitor program, with a punchcard for rewards too. The prices are extremely reasonable, less than I paid in Berkeley. And more convenient location too, with lots of free parking. Highly recommended! read more

I've never left a review before but there's always a first time for everything and today I have time. I came to this place because they had good reviews. That's good for those who've had a good experience here but for me, this place is by far the worst place I've ever been to do my eyebrows. The lady who did my eyebrows was rough and extremely rude. As she was getting ready to do my eyebrows I wanted to explain to her that all I wanted was a cleanup mid-sentence she cuts me off tells me "I know I know I do this all the time" #1 , although I thought that was rude I continued to let her know to PLEASE NOT THIN OUT MY EYEBROWS they are already on the thinner side all I wanted was a clean up that's all I wanted!! So she tells me "Okay!!" Mind you she seems irritated at my request. I position my hands how they ask me to do so whenever I go get my eyebrows threaded she throws my hand and tells me "oh that's not the way I do, I know others do but not me I do different" #2. I was confused on why she couldn't just verbally tell me first instead of throwing my hand. I would've understood and followed her directions. It was my first time here so I couldn't have known that. She proceeds to do my eyebrows she takes off so much hair of the front that I felt it I didn't even have to see them to know she had messed me up. She hands me the mirror as soon as I see my eyebrows my face goes blank she notices my face and starts to explain to me what she did #3 and why. Tbh at that point I completely zoned her out and just wanted to pay and leave. Because she basically said F whatever I asked for & did whatever she wanted. I didn't say nothing I felt it was best for her & for me to stay quiet. I payed didn't say none and walked away. Now I have to regrow my eyebrows all over again because she made them so thin . I'm still so confused on why the hell did she take so much off the front. Also, she left one thinner than the other. I found out about this threading place through a mailer I received and I'm so glad it is nearby. It was a bit of an adventure to find so I thought I'd add directions to finding this place! It's on the second floor of the trader joe's building in the el cerrito plaza. It you are standing in front of trader joes, there is a passageway to the right of it and you will see stairs and elevators that take you to the second floor - called mezzanine. I suggest that you also call if you get lost lol. After I found my way the owner was super nice and got me in a chair right away. She did my eyebrows the way that I asked for an even stopped to show my midway to make sure it was how I preferred. She also does henna and it looks fun. The price is very reasonable and you get a free threading after the third purchase! I am writing this review because she is very sweet, did an excellent job on my brows and is a small business owner.
