Hidden gem! The sesame chicken was incredible--crispy, tender, and perfectly coated in sauce. The portions were huge, the food came out hot and fresh, and everything tasted homemade. Honestly some of the best Chinese food I've had in the East Valley. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

The food is fantastic and the service is outstanding . They always made sure our drinks were filled, they were very friendly and nice, and the prices are pretty reasonable. The interior is nice too as well as well air conditioned so no worries about high heat there. The flavoring of all the food was delicious and there's so much to choose from. I will for sure be back in the future and this is one of the best Chinese food places I near Mesa. Give the chicken with plum sauce a try, as well as sizzling rice soup, and the Golden shrimp dish. The sauces are fantastic, the flavoring is exquisite, and the atmosphere is also good too for this place.

I'm not sure why I haven't reviewed Golden Gate yet. It's literally on my corner. We used to eat here a lot when my kids were growing up. You cannot beat their lunch special and we love the authentic decor. The service and food here are always top notch. We visited yesterday for the Lunar New Year - Happy Year of the Fire Horse! I was afraid it would be super busy, given the holiday, but it wasn't too bad. We were able to get a table right away. We ordered the Family Dinner for 2, which is only $23 per person and a TON of food. You get soup, appetizer platter and 3 entrees. The entree servings are tailored to size for how many people are enjoying but it's still huge portions. We left with our bellies full, 2 boxes stuffed with leftovers and hopefully good luck for the New Y

We came here for our book club to try a new spot. The portions are good for sharing. The food itself is okay, I personally felt it was lacking flavor. I used their chili oil in hopes of adding more flavor but was disappointed with the flavor of that as well. I do feel like our server was trying to rush us out. She brought over to go boxes and took away my friends plate as she was still eating. We like to support family business but I don't think we will back.

My family and I tried this Chinese Restaurant to celebrate Chinese New Year. Since moving to Mesa from California we have not found a Chinese Restaurant to our liking. Finally, Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant exceeded our expectations. The servers were very nice and helpful. The menu has all the traditional Chinese food choices you would expect. The appetizer platter with the flame, Happy Platter, was outstanding with generous portions. All of our entrees were delicious. The pricing is quite reasonable. The inside atmosphere was exactly what we are used to for American Chinese Restaurants. We will definitely become regular customers at Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant.

The appetizers overall were pretty good. Great chicken wing. The cream cheese wonton was good as was the egg roll. Soup was good as were most of the entrees. We were pretty much full after the soup and appetizers. You got 3 smaller entrees with the dinner for two and we still had food for a 3rd person to bring home. Overall I would say a solid value in a decent atmosphere and good service. We will be coming back.

Parking was a breeze and seating was spacious. I like the interior a lot and the service was quite good (seeing that it was only one person taking down the orders and cleaning! very fast for that). For the food, we ordered chicken fried rice, fragrance tender beef, fish-flavored eggplant, boiled fish with pickled cabbage, and dry fried green beans. All of these dishes were yummy, in particular, my parents love the boiled fish with pickled cabbage and fragrance tender beef. I do think there is solid sichuan spice flavor. This is a great place to get Chinese food in Arizona :) **something to note, there might be a heightened salty flavor in some dishes so be wary haha We always visit!

For years I have driven 25 minutes for takeout and never regretted it. High decor -No, limited selections -No, quiet -No, great food -Absolutely, incredibly friendly and pleasant staff -100%. The general chicken is perfectly breaded, deliciously flavored, slight bite and an uncious taste making you want more. The Malaysian fun chow has wok fried wide rice noodles with a hint of char, shrimp, bean sprouts, onions, veggies and a light but savory taste. Another home run! Don't let the exterior or inside decor persuade your judgement. Hands down the staff is second to none and the food is fabulous. Asian Cafe Express is an incredible value for the food quality and portion size. Trust me, if you give them a shot, you will also be ordering here for years. To the staff, fabulous job and thanks!

A Mesa Asian District Gem Worth Seeking Out…read more Asian Cafe Express is a lovely strip mall gem near H-Mart in Mesa's Asian District, and after 21 years in business, it clearly has a loyal following for good reason. We brought in a fresh lobster from H-Mart to try their "bring your own seafood" cooking option and chose the garlic onion stir fry preparation. It's $14.99 for anything under 2 lbs and $7.50/lbs for anything over. It came out excellent, served over crispy egg noodles with classic Asian flavors and plenty of wok-fired goodness. We also enjoyed the Peking pork ribs, which were deboned, tasty, and slightly sweet; the stir-fried green beans, which were fresh and well prepared; and the garlic spicy chicken wings, which were especially flavorful and highly recommended. The red bean drinks were traditional and satisfying, with soft, nicely soaked mung beans and no milk. Service was friendly, efficient, and personal, handled by a couple of ladies who clearly know the restaurant and their customers well. While we were there, plenty of regulars came in for takeout and several tables were happily dining in. Overall, we really enjoyed Asian Cafe Express and were surprised we had not stopped in sooner. Highly recommend, especially for the "bring your own seafood" cooking option and the garlic spicy wings. We will definitely be back.

The spicy is mild overall with a light chili spice on initial bite. It fades, so the dipping sauce was nice to have with it. The Xiao Long Bao were the winners of thee meal and would be why I go back. Easy to eat and tasty. I only wish the soup inside was a bit hotter. The Chicken Sheng Jian Bao was good, but the breading a little thicker than I personally like. This felt more like a dessert with the sesame bottom. Good taste, just heavy. Felt like we were rushed a bit and we're asked several times if we were done. There were empty tables, so that knocked it from the higher 3.5 side to the lower. Yelp is a flat star rating.
