Two lunch specials with entree, rice ($7.50 each), and two beverages.
    Michael F.

If you're looking for cheap and decent Chinese food, Tsing Tao is a solid choice. With the rising cost of eating out, this place stands out for its prices, especially their lunch specials ($7.50) , which offer great value for your coins. Service was meh, they do not have hot tea or hot beverages, and everything is served pretty much in take-out boxes. It's more of a takeout spot than a dine-in experience--the ambiance isn't the best since it's a small, mom-and-pop dive--but the food makes up for it. Plus, you won't break the bank grabbing food here.

Picked up a quick lunch and got the tofu with mixed vegetables and hot and sour soup. Not bad for the amount paid for. If you're looking something cheap and fast, get your lunch here. The tofu and vegetables had great flavor. The soup was also good. Downside the meal was 60% rice and it tasted like a different kind I'm not used to. Service was fast. Employees were great.

Beef chow fun, orange chicken, and hot & sour soup.

Q: What do you do if the lights in a Chinese food restaurant are too bright? A: Dim Sum. When the most amazing manager is leaving your team, you turn to comfort food. While this place doesn't serve dim sum, they do have a great offering of Chinese-American eats. I ordered: Hot & Sour Soup: Oddly enough, this was neither hot or sour. I think I can make a better hot & sour soup but hey, I use to work at a really amazing Asian restaurant where I learned all sorts of tips and tricks. Orange Chicken: Aw yis! I love that they threw in some orange peels. The flavor you get from the peel is a whole different taste. If there's orange peels in your orange chicken, you know you're in for a good treat. Beef Chow Fun: Good flavor, great technique (no broken noodles), but not too much smokiness from the wok. All in all, this place is a great local Chinese spot. Will it make it to my takeout rotation? Probably not but I commend them for doing some truly excellent dishes. For three items plus tip, the total was just under $33. The prices are more than fair. It's a cozier spot so large parties are not ideal. As a matter of fact, you should probably take your food home. It's a bit warm in here!

We came here after a long drive home from Colorado. We went all out and got two large soups (egg drop and wonton), cream puffs, egg rolls, spring rolls, a triple delight and teriyaki chicken. The order was ready earlier than planned but it wet still piping hot all the way back home. The soups were full and flavorful and came with fried wonton crisps. No complaints here. The egg rolls were standard and tasty. The spring rolls had a mushy center which was unique and still tasted good. The cream cheese wontons were fried to a nice golden brown and they were filled well with cream cheese. The entrees were well cooked, made to order and were filled to the brim with veggies and meats. I'm happy we came here and I'll definitely be back.

Stopped by here during a stay at a hotel across the street and I was pleasantly surprised. They gave me enough food for two people on the dinner special. I was served very quickly and the food was delicious. Only downfall was the drinks are in a refrigerator. I was looking for some thing with some ice in it.

OK I am honestly not so impressed that I would jump on Yelp in the middle of a meal to say that this food is freaking awesome :-) They've Americanized authentic dishes so I have to say I was happy about that. I want some authenticity, but I can see how they can appeal to everyone. Something as simple as a cream cheese Rangoon being filled to the brim instead of dry and crappy is awesome. The salt and pepper shrimp is perfectly crispy and despite the lack of copious chili oil and jalapeños, it was perfectly spicy. And can we talk about the Mei fun noodle dishes? Another triumph. Super impressed. Thank you for being open on New Year's Day.

But, we'll see something new on the menue, and it then becomes our new favorite. ANYthing we order has been outstanding. The service is very friendly and very helpful. They are very accomodating. The atmosphere is not fancy, but it is clean. While eating there, I always say. "I can't wait to come back." Just writing this review is making me yearn to eat there now, and I just ate there two days ago. Parking was a breeze and seating was spacious. I like the interior a lot and the service was quite good (seeing that it was only one person taking down the orders and cleaning! very fast for that). For the food, we ordered chicken fried rice, fragrance tender beef, fish-flavored eggplant, boiled fish with pickled cabbage, and dry fried green beans. All of these dishes were yummy, in particular, my parents love the boiled fish with pickled cabbage and fragrance tender beef. I do think there is solid sichuan spice flavor. This is a great place to get Chinese food in Arizona :) **something to note, there might be a heightened salty flavor in some dishes so be wary haha We always visit!

A Mesa Asian District Gem Worth Seeking Out…read more Asian Cafe Express is a lovely strip mall gem near H-Mart in Mesa's Asian District, and after 21 years in business, it clearly has a loyal following for good reason. We brought in a fresh lobster from H-Mart to try their "bring your own seafood" cooking option and chose the garlic onion stir fry preparation. It's $14.99 for anything under 2 lbs and $7.50/lbs for anything over. It came out excellent, served over crispy egg noodles with classic Asian flavors and plenty of wok-fired goodness. We also enjoyed the Peking pork ribs, which were deboned, tasty, and slightly sweet; the stir-fried green beans, which were fresh and well prepared; and the garlic spicy chicken wings, which were especially flavorful and highly recommended. The red bean drinks were traditional and satisfying, with soft, nicely soaked mung beans and no milk. Service was friendly, efficient, and personal, handled by a couple of ladies who clearly know the restaurant and their customers well. While we were there, plenty of regulars came in for takeout and several tables were happily dining in. Overall, we really enjoyed Asian Cafe Express and were surprised we had not stopped in sooner. Highly recommend, especially for the "bring your own seafood" cooking option and the garlic spicy wings. We will definitely be back.
