Gross! Will NEVER eat here again. The sushi is disgusting. I went here with 5 friends and not one of us enjoyed our meals. I ordered the spicy salmon crunch roll.. it was cooked and tasted like tuna (I've never had a cooked salmon roll before). The other rolls were also unappetizing. My friend sushi roll had (no exaggeration) frosting drizzled on top of it. She told the waitress, who admitted that "yes, it is frosting. We always put frosting on top". Interesting... My wife is a sushi-nut so the fact this place is about 5 minutes from our house is a huge plus. The sushi was good but could have been spicier, but it was fresh. The tempura sampler was tasty and decent size. The service was very good and the overall appearance and layout was nice. A step up for the area in dinning experience. The price was very reasonable as well. We had our 18 month old son with us and the staff was very accommodating. We'll try their cooked food next time and hopefully its not too Americanized. Never had chinese food here, only sushi. I have to say, really good sushi for Wilmington. Service is always good, too. I'm leaving one star off as it's a little pricey given the location. But overall one of the best sushi places in a 20 mile radius. read more

Me and my husband frequent here. Its our spur of the moment dinner date place. We love the ambiance. They have very modern Asian inspired decor with recessed soft lighting. They have TV at the bar where people gather to watch a game. Their owner and wait staff know us and are always welcoming and accommodating. We have yet to stop by and be forced to wait to be seated. Sushi is great for Wilmington. Fish is always fresh. I would recommend ordering from the specials. I love their Mongolian beef. Pad Thai was a bit to acidic for my taste. Bottom line... Went here last night for dinner with my sister and her boyfriend. I started with a Mai Tai which was very good. I then got the sushi which was a little different then what I was used to. It was good but not great. My sister got the Mongolian Beef. I felt the beef was spicy and the sauce lacked in flavor. read more

Food is exceptional. However success has made them become cavalier toward their customers. When they first opened they would honor all their coupons regardless of expiration date etc. Now they include fine print to not honor the coupon like expiration dates an " good only Sunday though Thursday". I ordered $50 worth of food on Friday and they would not honor the $10 off. Not even the management would budge. I would suggest leaving the order on the counter or canceling the order so they get the message. read more

I ordered take out on 7/10/15. The food is always good, but the front desk service is the worst EVERYTIME I call in. Tonight took the cake. The young girl was short and had a bad attitude. I have to visit this place every now and then because I'm addicted to the treasure island Sushi rolls which are out of this world. The drinks are tasty and pretty strong as well. The food quality was surprisingly good. The chicken wings were great. The restaurant was clean and the menu had a reasonable selection. I did not like the set up of the seating and the bar was located right by the outside door which made for a very chilly experience. There was also no seperation between the bar and the main dinning seating which made for a very loud dinner (not helped by a few patrons who had 1 too many at the bar). The wait staff was not friendly at all, though perhaps it was just an off night. I've mostly had take out, but the times I've eaten in were really great. The restaurant is bigger than you expect and the servers are nice. Plus they have a bar so you can get some cocktails. I am picky about chinese food and Golden Ginger sure won me over. My favorite items are the Crab Rangoon (YUM), the egg foo young, the chicken wings, and the garden greens (OMG the sauce is yummy). Their duck sauce is sweet just like I like it. I've had a couple of sushi rolls and they were good. I eat here way too often. I work right next door and the food is too wonderful to pass up. It's the lunch specials that are the best bang for your buck. They have a variety of offers some for sushi and the rest for legit everything else you can imagine. It's the best time to go. You can get a lot of food for very little money. The sushi specials are amazing. For $9 you get 12 pieces of sushi, miso soup, and a side salad. It's always fresh and really great quality. read more

I've eaten here a few times. I try to get something different each time. Clean inside with great service. Miss the oriental music though. Things I Loved ~ Crab Rangoon, Pork Raviolis, Pineapple Chicken and House Special Fried Rice (the BEST house special fried rice I have ever had.) Things that were okay ~ BBQ Spareribs, Beef Teriyaki, Pork Fried Rice, Beef & Broccoli, Shrimp & Lobster Sauce, Chicken Fingers, General Gau's Chicken (the white meat was used so it was a bit dry. Plus the sauce tasted a bit different and it wasn't that spicy.) Things I didn't care for ~ egg rolls, crispy calamari (not crispy after taking it home. Probably better at the restaurant), szechuan dumplings w/ hot sesame peanut sauce. (Basically tastes like dried peanut butter, not hot at all). Prices are a little on the high side. Kind of shocked the Pu Pu Platter didn't come with shrimp or chicken teriyaki. Over all, the food was very good, flavorful and hot. Would go back again. read more

Quite a few years ago this was a good restaurant for sushi but in the last year or so it has gone down hill but we thought we would try one more time. First it took a long time for someone to wait on us, total of 10 minutes to get beer and sake. Mind you it was not that busy on a thursday evening. The wonton chips they give you at the table were disgusting, soggy and oily. That started us thinking hmm perhaps we should leave. but ordered dinner (chirasi dinner and wings). Soup and Salad arrived and first thing we notice is the lettuce has brown edges. We decided we really did not want to eat here if they can't even provide fresh lettuce. Told the waitress to cancel our order and please bring us our drink bill. Close to 10 minutes we waited for our drink bill and then got up to ask the manager for our bill. He didn't seem to care at all when we told him about the food issue. We paid our bill and drove down to Mandarin Reading and had a wonderful sushi dinner. will not be going back to Golden Ginger again, as we had similar experience about 6 months ago but figured it would try it again. What can I say about this place besides "I love it!". It has some of the best Japanese food I have ever had. a friend and I split the sushi and sashimi for two and man was it good and really fresh too. This place is great I highly recommend to anyone. This is most likely the best Chineese in the Wilmington Area. I would have given it five stars but they opened a second location and the quality of the food dropped (I have seen this happen before). I have speoken to management and they are very receptive (as long as your constructive and not a jerk). I don't go there as much as I used to but every time I try another chinees place in the area it always comes back to the same thing - should have gone to Golden Ginger. I read through many of the reviews some were one stars , I think it might have been an off night or during the transition of opening the second location (this is an enormous amount of work for a small operation - so give them another try and update your review) I can say this - you can get good quality food here read more

This place really surprised me. We decided to check it out because of all the reviews and I'm really glad we did. Going in, I felt like this place was just going to be average quality. We ordered a few sushi rolls and some pad thai. When the food got to us, it looked decent. The pad thai was okay, eh. Not something I would order again. I found it to be plain. The sushi also looked average quality but it was surprisingly above expectations. Needless to say it was good. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back but maybe if I'm in the area. Had lunch here with my in- laws yesterday. The atmosphere and decor is nice; Service was excellent: Food was good. The luncheon specials are your typical menu options...they come with a choice of a soup, appetizer and type of rice. I thought it was interesting that they limited the appetizers to three options only: chicken wings, crab rangoon or spring rolls. The portion size is not large, but plenty to fill you up,for lunch with a few bites left over. I had a special of general gau's shrimp; my in laws had general gau's chicken. One of my favorite local sushi restaurants. The sashimi has always been very fresh, the tuna pizza is excellent! The crunch from the rice and then tuna and avacado on top is great. Pricing is typical - it always gets expensive eating sushi. Wait staff - not to good. The last two times the wait person has forgotten order and not served us what we ordered.
