    Margarita
    Zack J.

First time eating here. It's 2:50pm. My margarita is probably the worst margarita I've ever had. It tastes like lemonade with zero alcohol in it. There are only 5 tables with people. It took 26 minutes to get our food. In that 26 minutes we didn't see the waiter once. There are gnats flying around while I'm eating. My burger was so bland I had to dip it in ketchup to taste anything. It was like the bubba burger patties from the frozen section of Walmart. When I told the lady at the register about our experience she said "oh no... sorry" and didn't offer a discount or anything. You will probably be better off getting something from the other place in there or the gas station that's attached. I do not recommend.

On my low carb diet just getting the special and the chili bowl also sometimes I get the wedge salad which is really good. Friendly waiters always make it a good time and good service. Also there is minimal wait. It's clean and has wood chairs and some booths. Not super fancy but has value

Every time we go over the pass, we stop at Golden Grill, our Happy Meal place Fresh and delicious meals. Don't be in a hurry. The kitchen isn't slow, but thorough. Whatever we order it is always the best we've ever had - not fancy but flavorful. We've never had to wait in line. This is a quiet place to recover from a long drive. Clean and so friendly

Fast and friendly service. They make you feel at home Had the prime rib for 7.77 was mouth watering best I had any we're. Even better then Vegas. Yes I highly recommend this restaurant in side Golden Acorn in love oaks California area. Yes I will be back and if you are ever traveling. On interstate I 8 from San Diego California to Yuma Arizona you should stop in and check them out food is so amazing

Have you driven on Highway 8 to and/or from San Diego? Well if you have seen a casino in the middle of nowhere, you might have seen the sign that read $7.77 Prime Rib... yes... your eyes do not deceive you... I first remember seeing that sign back at the end of 2016.... guess what pit stop was made but unintended! Yep you guessed it, back then anyone could get it!... the rules may have changed (need to be a member - which is simple free and easy!) In order to get that price otherwise you will pay full-price. The fact that inflation has increased prices everywhere, it is nice to know you can get the same cut and beef and trimmings for the same price for several years! It might be worth the drive to gamble a little and have a bite to eat, heck bring the fambam too! I have since wonky been here a couple times since that 206 encounter... and munchkin surely LOVES eating here... which is a huge plus! Yes kids are welcomed in the restaurant and convenience store nearby. I was intrigued when I saw Indian fry bread on the menu, it was listed as an appetizer but unfortunately I was informed the menu had been revised some and that it was not one huge taco. Still, I miss that which I can only get in Tucson, Arizona. I was slightly disappointed. While freshly made, it was not the flavor and texture I was expecting... while my SO loved it (having not experienced indian fry bread before) we ended up sharing. We were a big group of 9 and they were easily able to accommodate our group within 5-10 minutes of putting our name on the list. Our waiter was amazing for our group and very attentive and efficient, as ell as sharing some laughs with us. My extended fambam loves coming here, so it is highly likely we shall return soon.

Indian Taco - This thing is at least 9 inches in diameter/4 inches high! It is massive!!! It's like a bready puffy taco. Different but good.

Surprisingly good... "surprisingly" only bc I didn't expect much when just stopping for gas on a road trip. Our server was excellent; she was very nice!

Where can you get 2 dinners, let alone prime rib dinners, for $15!

Slow service today. One guy is working the whole room. They need more servers here. Waited almost 30 minutes to be acknowledged-no water, nothing. The guy working the room is busting it hard. He needs to be training others. A woman from the registers came through and we asked about our server-thinking there was someone else. She only pointed to the one guy. Hubs flagged her down again and asked about water. She asked the two tables around us. Right after, our server came by and took our order. The lady brought drinks for the two tables that came in after us but didn't bring us water. :( Finally, everybody's meals came along with our water. We ordered the prime rib special which we've had before and liked. Tonight, it was overcooked on one and had a weird consistency. I only ate the edge where it wasn't bad. The best part was the broccoli-green bean combo. They tasted fresh and cooked so they still had a bit of a crunch. The manager (or a gentleman that looked like a manager) asked us about our meal and was kind enough to remove one. He also said they were working on staff. He was great also and will be the reason we stop in again. The company should take notice of the two gentlemen working on 2/26/20. They deserve acknowledgment and a raise!

Very well lit sign on the gaming machines about the deal. Again, no mention about having to be a reward member.

The Prime Rib Deal is a scam!! We only stopped here because of three different signs on Interstate 8 All three said Prime Rib Deal. $14.99. I asked my boyfriend to check at the hostess stand to make sure that the Prime Rib Deal was offered at 2:30 PM, since I knew there must be a catch. She said yes it is available right now. We sat down immediately and had no wait. Armando, our waiter brought our menus immediately. He took our order right there since my boyfriend knew what he wanted to eat. We had a lovely meal and again Armando was very great and attentive to our needs. My boyfriend reported that the meal was very good. However, when the bill came, my boyfriend looked at it very confused and told me that the Deal was $20. Nowhere on the highway, nor the very large illuminated sign on the casino property overlooking the highway, nor on the signs on the actual gambling machines did it mention anything about having to be a member of their club. Again, we even asked the hostess, and she did not say anything about a restriction that you have to be a member to get the deal. This is illegal and needs to be reported to the authorities. Maybe because it's on Indian property the authorities can't do anything about this illegal behavior. They did not make any adjustments even though I mentioned the four signs on the freeway did not state anything about having to be a member. Just beware that the $14.99 deal, yes, they doubled and priced since last year, is only available if you are one of their reward members.

Located inside the casino and kids are welcome to walk though the casino to go to the restaurant. The food cost is costly compared to the quality. No kids menu available. The Prime Rib $7.77 deal is the best thing there. It's worth stopping by and trying it, but I would not go there for any other reason. Staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Plenty of open tables for seating inside the restaurant, but still had to wait 20+ min to sit down. Not sure what that is about. Food came out in a timely manor. Not sure if I will go back, but I feel accomplished for trying the $7.77 prime rib deal.

Came here on 9-2-24 with friends for lunch, the restaurant itself is not noisy, not much people eating here, the service is ok. The waitress took our order, drinks, she left it took us 6 minutes to get our drinks, we had to get her attention to get more drinks just finally asked for a picture of soda cause it was ridiculous. For the food I ordered the 22oz ribeye with mashed potatoes gravy, the gravy was sitting out for a while cause it had a film setting already popped it and there was hardly any gravy, the rib eye was tough, not cut properly, the steam vegetables was cold barely warm, ordered the cheesecake with strawberries, the cheesecake is frozen store bought the spoon the server gave me was dirty with cheese stuck to it, my friend got fries with his burger, the bowl was dirty that the fries were in. So overall this place is a negative 1. If you're passing through just get gas and snacks go somewhere else don't eat here. I do hope the casino, management sees this.

Ribeye Steak with Loaded Baked Potato and Grilled Shrimp. WOW!
    W C.

All we can say is, "WOW!" We ordered the Ribeye Steak with Loaded Mash Potato and Grilled Shrimp. And, Honey Chipotle Salmon with Cilantro Lime Rice. The steak was cooked to PERFECTION! Medium rare. The shrimp, too. Both seasoned perfectly! The Honey Chipotle sauce on the salmon was also perfect! We finished with Molten Lava Cake A La Mode. Delicious. Hats off to the chef. THANK YOU, CHEF!

    Arline S.

Yes, a $7.77 prime rib meal sounds sketchy, I admit. But WOW! It was actually quite amazingly great! As was service, the ambiance, the drinks, everything! And if gambling doesn't bore you to tears, first time customers to the casino get free $10 gambling money. I am of the weepy, not interested, can't understand the complexities of a slot machine variety, so I can't tell you a single thing about the casino, only the store and restaurant here. And the amazing bargain prime rib! I grilled- see what I did there?- the waitress on the quality of the meal. I pointed out that some of the reviews on this place ridicule the idea of such a cheap meal. She insisted that anyone that orders it medium or cooler, are very satisfied with it. She pointed out several tables actively enjoying it as we spoke, and I love med rare everything, so thats how I got mine, and sincerely; it was outstanding. Check out the photo! Less than the cost of a Big Mac meal at McDonald's, you can get an epic meal, suitable for framing. I hope I come back! If not, I'm confident that this meal will feed me again tomorrow, thanks to the ludicrously large portions. Absolutely cram this place onto your schedule, CA! You won't regret it!

The food alone is five star worthy and it's a special treat to be able to be there and enjoy the experience. Ok, here is a summary of the dishes we tried: Chicken Quesadilla- this item is probably the most bang for your buck. It will fill you up for only $22. Not even on the same gourmet level as the other menu choices, nevertheless it is good. Fries- excellent non greasy and nicely cooked, with notes of potatoes. Fruit Bowl- very nice and refreshing fresh fruit chunks with surprise additions of jacima and cucumber that actually work! Avocado Toast-great bread, lots of nicely sliced perfectly ripe avocado, a good breakfast portion. Ricotta Toast- Great presentation as well as being a great breakfast. The Cara Cara Oranges on top really make this dish. Elote: No doubt, the best elote I've had. Exceeds the Mexican versions by leaps and bounds. Quesadilla Flor de Calabaza-Simply delicious and beautiful. The squash blossoms are very subtle but the other ingredients make for an exceptional dish. Watermelon Gazpacho- Really a burst of many flavors, this complex cold soup will not disappoint. An amazing way to start a meal. Pozole- I loved this soup. The hominy remains firm, and there is lots of pork shoulder in there. Imperial Caesar-This is a good variation of a true Caesar because the anchovy taste is carried forward by the bread crumbs. Great dressing, everything was fresh. French Toast- A fabulous creation that surprisingly was not too sweet. Beautiful presentation, marvelous flavors. Spring Vegetable Potato Hash- A hearty breakfast that features perfectly cooked buttered potato's, squash, peppers and onions with a side of avocado. Bacon- The bacon here is really good, it is thick and meaty with spot on taste and aroma. Steak and Eggs- You get a rather decent portion of their amazing steak. Eggs cooked perfect of course. Carnitas Tacos- A nice pool side snack, not very large but tasty. Guacamole- Another good pool side snack, their version is creative and very tasty. Chips were not greasy, thank you, Market Fish- Red Snapper was really well presented and quite delicious. A bit small for $55. Nicely spiced! Jacumba Ribeye- one of the best steaks I've had. Unexpected tenderness from a rib eye, on par with a loin steak. Flavor was amazing and very "Steak". Well trimmed, no fat or gristle. Poblano Burger- I would come back here just for this burger, it's right up there with the best of the premium burgers. Forget the trendy smash burger BS, this burger is an inch thick and cooked all the way through at a perfect medium, as I requested. The patty is juicy and very flavorful yet the bun hold up well to the end. The bun is also not overly fluffy, you get the taste of meat, not bread. I could not decide fries or salad so the server brought out both. Harissa Carrots- Wow, these are wonderful. I never thought I'd rave on about carrots but here we are. Served on a bed of delicious humus this dish is just outstanding. Fideo de Cameron-very nice sized shrimp that are excellent, accompanied by a great sauced pasta. Tabouleh- This serving brings forth new flavors to a typically boring side. Churraco Taco- Vanilla bean ice cream in a chocolate waffle taco. Creative and delicious. Profiterol- A delicious an beautiful version of a cream puff but so much more. Affogato- very good, but I would not order it unless the server is Richard. He knows how to use the espresso machine, apparently the others do not. Unless it is Richard DO NOT ORDER A LATTE! It will be weak and tasteless. The juices are fresh and carefully crafted, The zero proof drinks are all pretty awesome concoctions by the talented bar tender. Be sure to ask for a fly fan, we used two, you may need three. The flies are not a problem when the misters are on.

The restaurant is located in courtyard of the hotel. The dining is mostly outdoor in a wonderful outdoor courtyard and then there's some dining inside. They have large tables for groups and they have really nice decor and a rustic and farmhouse design element. This seems to be a "farm to table" restaurant. All of the ingredients tasted fresh and sourced locally. Our server was very nice. She was able to give us very good suggestions and answer any questions that we had about the menu. We ordered: Blue Corn Sopes, Mole Chicken, Wedge Salad with Steak added, Zataar Bowl with Chicken added, and 2 Poblano Burgers. They also have mocktails and I opted to have one, the "Afterglow". It's an outdoor patio so just be prepared because there are a lot of trees in the courtyard where you dining. There were several times when we saw cute little green bugs land on our hair or on our skin or on our clothing or on the table. Because we're in a really nice nature promoting environment, it added to our experience and was kind of nice. Also, there are many tables and there is the potential for several groups of people to also be dining around you. It makes the dining experience a lot more enjoyable because everybody's really having a good time talking and enjoying themselves and their groups. My poblano burger was delicious. I'm glad that I made that choice. I heard that: the wedge salad was also good, zataar bowl with chicken was ok, Blue Corn Sopes were ok, and the Mole Chicken was ok. I actually appreciated the freshness of the ingredients and that the food wasn't overpowering and super flavorful, but just right. At the end of the meal, for dessert, I ordered the cream puff with ice cream. Another person in our group ordered a vanilla latte. The cream puff was just ok. It had more of a biscuit texture instead of a fluffy and light cream puff texture. The homemade ice cream was ok. It was vanilla bean and it just was ok. We really enjoyed our dining experience here. Our server was outstanding and she was able to check on us very frequently just in case we missed anything. In this small town and probably all towns in the vicinity, this is definitely THE 5-star dining experience. I appreciated it and was happy to experience it.
