Growing up in New Mexico and Texas, I find it hard to find a spot on LI that helps satisfy the craving for good Mexican/TexMex. Tonight, we got a pretty good platter of food. My wife and I got a total of 8 tacos, 4 Birria tacos (2 of each), and 4 street tacos. (2 carne asada, 2 carnitas). My kids each got a quesadilla, regular and chicken bacon ranch. I tried the chicken bacon ranch and that thing was pretty serious lol. My kids could have definitely just shared one. With all of that being said, the carne asada street tacos were definitely my favorite of everything, followed by the carnitas then finally the birria tacos. The salsa verde they served in the cup was as authentic as they come, and I put that sh** on every single bite. Something about the salsa verde in the bottle just wasn't hitting the same. As my family was wrapping everything up, this nice young lady approached us and offered complimentary churros for the kids! Super nice of them. This experience was definitely a 9/10 for me. I would probably just skip the birria tacos next time, personally.

We've been dining here for many, many years, and usually do takeout: but every once in a while we like to get the cultural flair of this establishment so we dine in. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming! The menu is very eclectic with something for everyone's personal enjoyment! It's a very family-friendly restaurant as well, as we usually see many young children dining with their parents. It's predominantly Portuguese, and Mexican, with a Spanish flare, and everything is very fresh and delicious.... If you're ever in the Farmingville area on Portion Road stop in...I truly believe you won't be disappointed! Afterwards , you can go next-door to Euro Fresh for dessert at the best Portuguese bakery around town (and probably in all of Suffolk County)!!!

It was the Spanish Sauce that brought out the Unami flavor of the fish. Grilled Mackerel is a popular summer dish in Portugal. The fish lowers cholesterol due to its high content of omega-3 fatty acids, according to Google AI. The dish at Fax Chix was so popular today that it sold out within one hour of business opening. I also ordered a Caipiroska (lime, vodka, sugar) . It was strong but refreshing. As usual, the service was good, and the food took about 25 minutes to come out because everything was prepared fresh.

My wife and I arrived early on a Tuesday evening and reservations were not necessary. Upon entering, we were promptly seated. Shortly thereafter, a basket of corn tortilla chips arrived with a mild dipping sauce. I cannot attest to the dip, however, the chips were warm, lightly salted, and crispy. For an appetizer we ordered fried calamari. As an entree, I chose the Don Quijote Mixed Grill. This consists in marinated grilled skirt steak, pork loin, chicken breast, Latin sausage, tostones, white rice, and pinto beans. I substituted additional white rice for the pinto beans. The calamari arrived hot and they were delicious. Definitely to be shared by two. My entree arrived sizzling on a flat iron grill. Everything was delicious. I enjoy a hearty meal, but I could not finish the abundance of excellent food on my plate. Of course I grew a desert appetite so I ordered the fudge chocolate cake and a decaffeinated cappuccino. Both the cake and the cappuccino were excellent. My only negative comment was that I received a fatty cut of pork. Notwithstanding this, I would still give the restaurant six stars if I could. This is how good the food was. Takeaways 1. Reservations not needed mid-week. 2. Abundant parking. 3. Excellent service. 4. Fantastic food. 5. Great service. 6. Superb portion to price. Note: it would be possible to order the dish I had and easily split it between two people.

I asked my spouse. Ordered chile rellenos, the three taco meal, and had a pork belly appetizer that we shared between us. Took most of it home, and I have to say, I love Mexican/Latin food, but this was the blandest selection of food I have had since trying a can of Amy's vegetarian Tom Kha soup. Amy sucks every last bit of flavor, joy and life from Thai cuisine, and while the food at Don Quixote wasn't depressing, it lacked what I expect from Latin food: A little spice, some savor, cultural pride maybe. I guess that's why we hadn't been back. But, if you look at reviews, most others seem to like it pretty well, so you'll have to decide for yourself. I may have been there too early, just as the kitchen was warming up, or maybe just an "off" day. Your experience may vary.
