I really like that they give you ample amounts of curry and it's flavorful and thick. The goat was meaty and they gave you a good amount of pieces especially for it to be a small. I wonder what a large looks like. The meat and curry was seasoned well I enjoyed it very much. So it's located n the plaza with the H-Mart pretty easy to find. The inside IMHO isn't really for sitting, rather for carry out as there are only bar stools and things. The staff are really friendly and we're willing to break things down if need be. Now the most important thing.... the food. So instead of getting the special I decided to get the curry roti. So I'm used to Trini roti, packed nice and tight seasoned right with the chicken pieces, aloo, channa, and what not. This came out more as a pocket. I decided to try The Golden Krust for the first time today. There's free delivery on UberEats for Black owned businesses. Funny how TGK was the only option, but that's another story for another day. I got the Brown Stew chicken which came with cabbage and rice and peas. The Brown Stew chicken was pretty good. Meat was tender and fell off the bone. However, It needed more.... brown stew.... Honestly and truly. The rice and peas were good. The cabbage was a no for me. I'm used to Jamaican Cabbage having a bit more flavor. The portion sizes are smaller than the average Jamaican eatery. Yet the prices are on par with other eateries that offer better food and much larger portions. There's certainly room for improvement. I've had Golden Krust food in two states and have never been disappointed. Yesterday evening my daughter, sister and nephew went to the route 40 location for carry out. When we arrived an hour before closing the dining area was closed and they had a line. But the food and the service was very good. My daughter and I ordered oxtails, rice, peas and cabbage. My sister ordered curry chicken, rice and peas with cabbage for her and her son and oxtails for her husband. Everyone had beef patties. Our food was delicious. It was all delicious! My sister had never had their food and the lady at the register had no problem answering her questions. When she noticed her co-worker was getting a bit overwhelmed she excused herself to help. She appeared to have a serious demeanor but was actually friendly we got up to the counter. My sister loves curry but doesn't eat spicy food at said she could handle the mild zing. She tasted her husband's oxtails and loved those too. My only negative was although good the patties were a little thin on filling. I rated 5 stars because we walked in an hour before closing and our food was delicious and the service was great. Flat patties and all. The service was friendly and courteous. When I walked in the woman working the counter had a customer all I wanted her to do was acknowledge me. She walked into the kitchen, came back, and then acknowledged my presence. I also didn't like that there were no prices listed for all the items on the menu. There was a sign on the door saying "We Now Have Roti," but I had to ask for the price when I ordered because it was not on the menu board. Usually a pretty good place to go for that Caribbean fix in your life. Curried Goat is good, Jerk Chicken is tender and Oxtails are flavorful! However on this last visit to just get some good ol' CoCo bread was not at all what I imagined it would be. I needed to purchase 12, yes twelve pieces of CoCo bread which comes into the store in bags of (4), so I purchased 12 pieces for a party late that evening. Much much later that evening it was brought to my attention that the bread was old. Come to find out the bread I purchased on the 19th of September had expired on the 2nd of September, more than 2 weeks ago. I was hot!!! I returned to the store with (2) full bags of bread to return and I was immediately told that they do not take food back, I tried to plead my case and after about 10 minutes I was told that I could order something else because they do not return money. What the manager in the store told me was that he thinks the bakery from where they get the bread, baked it and then stores it, then ships it out. So you are telling me you buy old bread on purpose? It always amazes me that these restaurants don't know their products well and may get customer sick and/or dissatisfied with these establishments. read more

Reopened recently (within the last few months) and is under new ownership/management. Golden Krust is a chain restaurant serving up Jamaican food (brown stew, jerk meats, curries, patties, baked goods). The patties were nice and hot, fresh from the oven. They do offer a variety of different types of patties compared to the other local Caribbean restaurants in this area. However, I wasn't a fan of the ratio of pastry crust and filling though (more crust than filling). Perhaps it was because there isn't much substance to the filling; SX didn't like how the meat filling had a paste-like consistency. The paste-like consistency made it seem like that filling wasn't actual meat and was a bit of a turn off. The goat curry meal was good (large for around $10). The curry had the right level of spice and curry kick to it. It was flavorful and easy to eat with the rice and beans. The vegetable side here is more than just cabbage, there's some peas, green peppers, carrots, etc. We also tried a side of the Festival (3 pieces per order for $1). It's similar to a hush puppy, but more sweetness. It has that cornmeal texture going for it. They do offer lunch specials for $4.99, so will probably be back to try that, since it seems like a good deal. Very clean on the inside. There's some seating inside, but mostly counter top and stools type of seating. They also offer a lot of various packaged baked goods like sweet buns, and breads studded with dried, candied fruits. The other women there act like they hate you the moment you walk in the door. They look you up and down and roll their eyes. Never a smile or even a thank you. I came in and ordered crust and a small jerk chicken platter with veggies and rice and peas. Lets start with the crust. It was hard as a rock and dry. Like thats supposed to make the situation better. At that point I was confused, since when is it okay to give customers old food thats been in the warmer all day.
