The veggie chunks which is a mixture of soy pieces and other vegetables in a curry sauce is really tasty. But the most tasty vegan option they have here is going to be the jerk tofu. Unfortunately all of the rices are not vegan but vegetarian. The staff is very nice and many of them are from the Caribbean. You must try the pineapple ginger natural juice. I come to this location frequently. My order is always around 25-30$ and they ALWAYS forget something. Whether it's my side of Mac & Cheese or my plantains The line takes forever and after sitting in the line once, It upsets me I have to drive back around just for items that I should have had in the beginning. I got a large oxtail and small side of curry goat. My total was $41! There prices are much higher than the other location. The food was sloppy; swimming in gravy. My rice was just soaking in gravy. The cabbage lacked flavor and was barely cooked. The oxtails were the smallest pieces . The flavor was not good. The curry goat - flavor was ok but the meat was chewy . i will never eat here again. i ordered from them through uber eats. i frequently go to other golden krust restaurants and love the food. well this is definitely not the same. the jerk chicken taste like bbq. chicken. the plaintains were hard... the stewed chicken horrible. we called the restaurant and spoke with an employee named tymira. she explained that they have different chefs on different days so their reciepes aren't always followed. she said whenever we returned she would replace our meals. we went in 5 days later and the manager was dishonest and rude after her staff told her they found a note left indicating this. she said tymira had no authority to tell us this. now this is not our problem. she refused to honor it and kept giving us the run around for over 30 minutes the fact that they were willig to loose a frequent customer ...seal the deal. .i will never eat there again. read more

This review is regarding the inconsistent customer service served by the employees of this location. The quality and flavor of the food has always been excellent! We have purchased food from this location many times over the last 6 months, and always use the drive thru and have never physically been in the restaurant for a sit down or take away order. A few days ago, I pulled up to the drive-thru and placed my order for a small soup. The person took my order and as usual, was directed to pull up to the window for the order total. So I pull up to the payment window and there is an employee there with the soup. The employee does not open the window right way as there is another employee there and they are talking. The waiting is not the issue. After a few minutes, the employee opens the window, has the soup in hand and says, "Yes, here is your soup" but does not give a total. So I say, "What is the total"? You would of thought I asked for the soup for free. The employee scowls and says to me, "what's with the attitude"? The employee then proceeds to discuss my "attitude" with the 2nd employee at the window right in front of me. Through all of this, the employee never provided a total for the order. At this point, I say thank you, you can keep the soup and I drove away. It's like a crap shoot at the drive through window, where you never know what disgusting human being is going to greet you. TERRIBLE FOOD AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I decided to try when i past and saw multiple cars in the drive thru line i ordered Curry Chicken Jerk Chicken Jerk Chicken Pattie & Coco Bread. Coco bread was the BEST item. I asked for extra gravy on each dinner and I got the DRIEST RICE EVER!!! No gravy on the rice and no gravy with the meat. WTH??? The dinners didn't have much seasonings and was very bland. Not sure if I caught them on a bad day but I def I wont be back. After a few bad experiences at one other Golden Crust, I almost threw in the towel with this Jamaican food chain. Nonetheless I was tired of the overcrowded Chic Fil A next door so I gave them a shot for their lunch menu. Surprisingly its usually not busy during lunch. I love that this location offers a drive thru (for us lazy car people..lol). I ordered the lunch special for only $5.99 and figured if it wasn't good I didn't loose out too much. The ladies that work here are always pleasant and friendly. The lunch special is a choice between the curry or stew chicken. Also comes with plantains, white rice (or rice and peas), and cabbage. Very hearty size for lunch so I usually don't eat it all. This type of lunch requires a nap afterwards. Lol. The plantain are always sweet! The stew chicken is soooo savory. A hint of sweetness with the taste of the flavor marinated into the chicken. Very similar to the stew chicken my West Indian friend makes. Now this is the only Golden Crust I visit. I am a fan of authentic Carribean food. Had this been my first experience, I would never try it again. The flavor was less than average, and the presentation was sloppy. The one star is earned because the employee was nice and the large portion was sufficient. $40+ later on oxtails, vegtable tofu... I am debating whether to trash the remainder of this large portion or try it tomorrow. If the experience/quality of the food is Covid related it's unfortunate. Prices are higher than on menu at drive thru and they don't tell you until after you pay at the window. They charge over a 2% fee for using debit or credit card (during a pandemic) and they do not verbally inform you nor is it on their website. They do however have it posted on the drive thru window in tiny letters. Golden Krust food is overpriced and just not worth it. The new owners has no clue as to what they're doing. The employees have very bad attitude & are very rude. Not welcoming like the old owners. I've been going to this place since they open and now I will not be returning. The food is just not the same, it's not even Golden Krust recipes. Sad to say one customer down and many more to go. So this is a family owned franchise that is based out of Queens, NY. It is situated in an ideal place close to many diverse minority groups. It is setup up like a Piccadilly, you go through the line & order any combination of entrees. I tried the stew chicken & it was coated in fat/skin. It lacked taste & the flavors did were not bold enough as I've had in the past; not sure if its b/c all of it is pre-made for general public. I also tried the jerk & shrimp patty which also (surprisingly) lacked the authentic flavor, I will have to come back for the spicy beef patty another time. They have a wide array of soup but you must have a daring palate since some of the options are goat head soup, ox tail,etc. The staff is polite & you are able to get prompt service, it is well lit and clean. I order mannish water soup every Saturday from this restaurant. Are usually go to the restaurant in person. Twice I have ordered through Uber eats and twice I have been thoroughly disappointed. In person in the food is fine when you order through delivery they give you the bottom of the barrel of whatever is left. (Drive Through Review: Just as a heads up this review is over the drive through experience of the restaurant and not walk in experience which may be different. Skip to below for the TL:DR Pros & Cons list) The Delivery: To start I was craving some Jamaican oxtails and brown rice with some browning sauce one evening and this was the only one nearby. My expectations weren't high to begin with but little did i know my experience would be way worse. Going through the drive through they asked for my order which was fairly quick and I proceed to pull forward to the window. when arriving to the window the person who asked for the order the first time asked can I repeat what I wanted, as I did I noticed the person asking for it started to get snappy with a very antagonizing tone and REPEATEDLY asked for what I wanted up to 4 times. At this point their attitude was very off putting but i just wanted my food. As I gave this person my card to pay for the food they began to scratch at bumps around there mouth, all while swiping my card and handling my food with the hand they used. This was VERY off unsanitary and off putting, coupled along with the attitude of this person. The Food: The food came in a big Styrofoam container and based on the size it looks like a lot of food but upon opening it I realized that it was mostly rice. To be clear i ordered the Braised Oxtail Combo, which comes with oxtails, brown or yellow rice, cabbage, and sweet plantains. On first glance when opening the box, it looked as if I got a lot of oxtails but it was actually just sitting on top of the MOUND of rice they give you, making it look like you got a lot of oxtails. They only give you two plantains and a small side of cabbage to go with the enormous amount of rice. Mind you I got no browning sauce to even put on the rice to keep it from being so dry. The Taste: (Oxtails) This was the only part of the meal I didn't have an issue with other than the amount they give you. The oxtails flavor is great, the meat falls off the bone and easily able to eat around especially when using your hands. They don't give you many fat pieces which is always a bonus especially when you want more oxtail meat. (Brown Rice) One thing for sure they will give you A LOT of rice to make up for the stinginess of the oxtails. The rice was way to dry and bland tasting compared to the oxtails. It tasted unseasoned, generic and could have just been white rice with beans in all honesty. If you plan to get some rice, make sure you definitely bring something to drink. (Plantains) Out of the two they give you, they taste okay at best. Definitely not enough to judge on taste or even satisfy a craving for them. (Cabbage) Same thing as the plantains, not enough to judge and over consumed by the rice compiled onto of it. Conclusion: Don't waste your time here if you have a craving for authentic Jamaican food. Go and actually find a restaurant with good service and enough oxtails to satisfy that craving. This restaurant is exactly what it is and that's a fast food chain, nothing more at best. Defiantly not worth your money. TL:DR (Pros): Fast drive through. (Cons:) Crappy service, unsanitary, barely any oxtails, to much brown rice, not enough plantains, not enough cabbage, and overpriced for what you get. read more
