Thanks to this less than sanitary salon and an overly aggressive technician who made me bleed and yelp in pain (no pun intended), I've been fighting a toenail fungus infection for over a year! As soon as she started cutting a cuticle and it hurt, I told her to stop. She said, "No, must get cuticle." She proceeded and, again, I cringed in pain and told her to stop, that it was okay - I'd rather have an imperfect cuticle than pain. She insisted and went for it again - that was when I pulled my foot back and told her that she had to stop or I would leave (yes, awkward!). She finished the pedicure and the next morning I woke up with pain in that toe. A week later, I discovered the fungus when I removed the nail polish (that was already chipping!)!:/ I thought, perhaps, that I had just gotten a crappy technician, but just a week ago a friend and I were chatting and we discovered that we both have toenail fungus infections from the same salon. This not only means applying a topical treatment 2x/day, but it means no more pedis - not only because it's embarrassing, but I certainly don't want to give it to someone else. Please do yourself a favor and find a higher quality salon to do your nails. You may save a few dollars at Golden Nail, but trust me, you'll spend much more on anti-fungal medications. read more

This nail salon is very eager to accommodate as many customers as possible but they work very hard and do not rush you through the process. I usually just get a pedicure, which I have always been very pleased with, but today I also got a manicure with gel polish and they did a great job. The tech promised it would last 2-3 weeks, no matter how much I cooked or cleaned, so I went for it. We'll see if it holds up through Thanksgiving! Regarding the aggressive toenail cleaning, I have to agree that they can be rough but they truly are just trying to do a good job. If you don't want any pain, kindly ask them to leave it alone. Sorry to say it, but there is nothing golden about Golden Nail Salon. This place sucks, plain and simple. I tried to give them a chance but they blew it. I recently stopped by for a pedicure and the lack of professional service was definitely a problem. Many of the technicians were more interested in gossiping and screaming at one another in front of customers. While the nail technician was working on my feet, I asked if she could scrub my heels since they seemed a little rough and in need of some exfoliation. Her response to me was dry and sharp "we don't do heels". Really? If you ask any podiatrist if the heel is part of the foot, they'll say yes it is. So with the pedicure, my heels can't be treated with the rest of my feet? Just what nail salon would want customers walking out the door following a pedicure with dry, ashy heels? Went in for an acrylic fill, and had very good service. It was a busy Saturday and I got a seat right away.The nail tech did a great job on my way overdue acrylics, and found a fabulous color! $15 for fill and color. The eyebrow and lip wax was clean and fast. They use honey wax and did a good job shaping my eye brows without making them too thin. $10 for eyebrows and $7 for lip, but together they charge $15. So all together $30 for a fill, brow wax, and lip wax. Great. The only negative is that space IS a little tight, but manageable. For the value and service, it's a definite go-to! read more

I was very displeased with my service and was happy to see that I am not the only one. I got my nails done today and spent $45 for gel. Pricing was the same as everywhere else I have been... The lady was very rough with my hands, and when I explained to her that I wanted them shorter she picked up an attitude and made three of my nails bleed because she dremelled my cuticles to far. I didn't receive an apology or explanation. It wasn't until I got home when I realized that there were also air bubbles in the gel which makes the nails look terrible. I spent $45 to get scabbed cuticles and sore nails (it hurts to even type this). It is ridiculous. Bad day or not, no one has a right to butcher your nails when it is the service they provide. Do not go here, any nail salon would be better than this. It was also crowded, hot, and smelly. Just do not go... I was pleased with the service I received and will come back. My daughter and I decided to visit a different nail salon every few weeks and write reviews. This is our first. Cleanliness: yuck. Atmosphere: Noisy (technicians chattering in their language back and forth). Appearance: Crammed chairs (not all the massage buttons or reclining buttons worked), tiny drying station, poor construction (holes in walls, very dirty), little fans on their manicure desks were filled with so much dust hardly any air was felt when i was told to put my fingers in front of it. I have been using Golden Nail Salon for 3 yrs for both nails and for waxing. Every time I have been in, the ladies are attentive and very nice. I have always had good manicures and pedicures and have had several different nail techs. One of my favorites is Cindy. The waxing is quick and efficient. They recently renovated and the new salon is clean and bright. They use a new sealed tool package for every customer. (There have been some negative review about the sanitary conditions) the waxing room is clean and new paper is on the bench each time. I just had a mani with gel, a pedi, and waxing for lip, chin and brows. The total cost was $85+ tip. While I'm not an expert, that price seems very reasonable for the amount and quality of work done. I will continue to use Golden Nail and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a local nail salon! Also - take a look at the dates on the negative reviews and the ones that are not recommended. If Yelp used all of the recent ones the rating on the salon would be MUCH higher. read more

This place is terrible. I stopped in to get a full set of acrylic nails. From start to finish, my "nail tech" trimmed my nails unevenly. When I mentioned it to her she told me she would have to take it off or I could wait until next time. I made her fix it, I can't walk around for two weeks with super uneven nails. Then she didn't file my nails to shape them how I wanted them. Nor did she file them down. They are huge! Bulky! And unclean... she didn't clean the polish around then nail or the glue. I tried giving them another try but they just aren't worth the money. My daughter got a manicure and her polish is already coming off. It hasn't even been 24 hours... NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

July 1, 2202, I paid $50 plus tip for a gel pedicure. The technician from the start was pretty ROUGH. She started the pedicure with an electric nail buffer over my toenails and proceed to want to complete the pedicure this way; she literally took layers of my nail. I had to ask her to stop, she had removed most layers of the nail down almost to the skin she poured some liquid with alcohol and dump my foot in water when I squirmed in pain. I told her she hurt. She finally put the tool down but after causing injury. Not once did she use any hand type pedicure pumice stone or non-electric buffer. At the register I told her again she hurt and the manager who I found out later was listening to our conversation. They started speaking to each other in their dialectic, I ask them to speak in English and the manager just said the tech said your nail was thick. Wow never in my over 30 years of pedicures have I heard this excuse. I left in pain got home call and they knew immediately who I was I ask for a refund and she proceeded to tell me I had to come back in and show them my toe. I told her you guys knew you hurt me. Read from other reviews that they can become verbally abusive when you complaint. The Dept of Professional & Occupational Regulations 18VAC41-20-270. Sanitation and safety standards for shops, salons, and schools "A nail drill or motorized instrument shall be used only on the free edge of the nail." I have been coming here since moving to the area a few years ago. Have had a great experience with multiple nail techs- have not tried any other place since starting to go here. I get gel manicures and they last 2-2.5 weeks. I have a small child at home and don't take the best care of my manicure- happy with the longevity, all things considered. I would like to update Jade R's review. I have gotten several wonderful pedicures here. Nothing special, but the ladies never rushed and always did a good job. Also, I've tried quite a few places in the area for waxing, acrylic tips, pedicures, and pink/white tips and can't beat their prices. I bite my nails like it's a side-job, and occasionally feel I should put tips on it because they keep my nails from looking like those of a meth addict's and act as a barrier from biting. On a recent business trip to Denver, I had pink/white nails put on...or what I thought was pink and white. I went for a fill at Golden Nails when I got home, and "Tina" explained to me what they were really supposed to look like, then removed them and replaced them with the correct technique. It is a painstaking process, and she did an amazing job, and charged me only for the fill. I had to get occasional repairs because I'm so careless, and she always fixed them well and quickly. You do have to deal with the obligatory up-sell of facial waxing, but I did go for it and was very happy with the results. The interior is not much to look at, and this is by no means a luxurious place, but they do a great job and don't overcharge. read more

Went in for a pedi and a shellac manicure. Toes look ok but my fingers still have remnants of previous polish despite repeated attempts to have her remove it. Was cut several times. No discount was given for the cuts even after asking for one. Disappointing experience. Won't be back. read more

Worst Mani/Pedi ever, and I've had some bad experiences! The place smells awful and it's very dirty. They used one of those razors on my feet for the Pedi, despite my protests. Isn't that illegal these days? I chose a dark purple color. The lady used nail polish remover more than actual polish on my nails. This left me with dry, purple stained cuticles and and flakes of nail polish all over my fingers. The woman who did my nails left as soon as she was done. Everyone else was helping other customers, so I got zero help putting on my shoes and no quick dry spray. Now I'm home with purple fingers and smudged nails (toes and fingers). To sum it up, I could have saved myself $35 and done an at home Mani/Pedi. I suggest going somewhere else! read more

I have not used their services. I just walked in a little and the smell about knocked me over. Everyone that has written reviews about the smell and how crowded it is with equipment and all are completely right on. The smell is really bad..a combination of everything going on in that salon. Seems that if they have a ventilation system they are not using it. Seems to me that this salon does not care about the smell and that it is running off potential customers. I did notice that their prices weren't too bad. If you can get a really good refill and pedi there that's great, but I for one would not be able to stand the smell for long. My question is this: If you are going to pay out the money to have your nails done and your feet done, why wouldn't you want a pleasant experience with not being crowded by the next customer and have to endure that horrible smell? read more

If I could give negative stars I definitely would. The nail techs are rude and act like you're an inconvenience by patroning this establishment. My first time here I opted for a basic mani to keep it simple. I asked not to have my cuticle clips and the tech said ," just a little." She aggressively clipped my cuticles. They were sore the next day. By day two my entire finger was throbbing. I went to urgent care and it turns out I have Paronychia, a bacterial infection cause by aggressive manicuring (and nail biting and thumb sucking, neither of which are habits of mine). I've been here a couple of times, and never had an issue. The lady doing my nails wasn't very talkative, but it was very busy and she still did a good job. I got both my toes and fingers done. I sometimes see them use the same tools on fingers and toes, and that's a little gross, but they open a new sanitary pack for each customer. Their polish selection is mostly red/maroon, which probably caters to the majority of their demographic, but they have some fun colors too. Not bad in a pinch. read more

Super gross. I stopped in today since it was in walking distance of where I get my car detailed. Staff was overall friendly enough, however, the tools this woman used on me were FILTHY. DO NOT GO!!! This past Friday I went for a pedicure after being at a work convention for 2 days. My feet were blistered, sore, and all I wanted was a decent pedicure and to soak my feet. BIG MISTAKE at this salon!!! I had a bad feeling that the place was dirty--it just looked dirty and I worried about going there--but I was tired and thought there was no way this place is that bad. The technician was terrible. She cut my cuticle until it bled and didn't even apologize. Within hours my foot was swollen, I could barely walk, and had to go to the Immediate Care Center. The doctor told me I had a HORRIBLE BACTERIAL INFECTION FROM THE PEDICURE BATH WATER!!!! The nurse mentioned that many of the cheaper salons don't clean their pedicure bath tubs out properly and you can get either fungal or bacteria infections--well, I got the bacteria infection. My foot hurt so bad--my ankle was scary swollen, and until the medicine kicked in, I could barely walk. Do NOT go there! Even after 3 days of antibiotics, my infection is better, but not totally cleared up and I'm still somewhat in pain. Saving money is just NOT worth it!!! read more
