He always made sure to greet and acknowledge me whenever I visited, which was something I appreciated. Thankfully, David (the tall guy) is still here! It was great to see a familiar face. He has always been one of my go-to therapists since -- he understands the pressure I need and consistently delivers a great massage. Today, I came back again and David wasn't available, so I tried Tao (I believe that was his name). He did a good job and I enjoyed the session. One thing I noticed though -- the therapist photos and names displayed on the monitor seem outdated. I think keeping those updated would be helpful not only for security reasons but also for regular clients who come back and want to recognize their preferred therapists. One area that could use improvement is the air circulation. Since summer is here, the room felt quite warm, and during the later part of my massage, I found it a little difficult to breathe comfortably. Overall, I'm still happy to come back to The Relaxing Station. I appreciate the therapists who have taken care of me over the years and hope the facility continues improving so returning clients can continue having a great experience. She listens to what you are looking for (if your shoulders have been stiff, or if you want a relaxing massage that day), she's really strong, and very skilled at making knotty muscles behave! I love that I can ask her for the sciencey-answer to what she's doing or what muscles are locked up; it empowers me to learn more about my body and how to care for it afterwards! The spa itself offers convenient online booking, it's very clean and peaceful (and looks down onto the ocean!), and their customer service is top notch. I use their Wellness Plan option, which offers a year of monthly massage appointments for a slight discount. Love it!! I hope this place stays here forever. And the fact that it's right beside the ocean means that if you want to continue relaxing after your massage, you can just walk downstairs and sit on the beach.

I told her I wanted deep tissue & to not be gentle. It started off ok, but as she got further along I thought "did I pay for a massage or merely to be inadequately rubbed with lotion". You know the massage isn't great when you're left laying there wondering when it's going to be over and it feeling like it's taking forever. This is clearly stated on their website but my bestie who booked it didn't realize when she booked it for us, so this is your warning now! The pool was outdoors and it gives a perfect PNW vibe, and it's heated so it relaxes you prior to your treatment. You can hear people walking past the entire time, though, and also the window that is by reception looks out at the pool so people constantly walk by and stare. My treatment (a Swedish massage that turned into more of a sports recovery massage) was great but I mentioned being sore from a workout and my therapist took that as "she wants a rough massage", so it wasn't particularly relaxing. I did provide feedback here and there but mostly succumbed to it, and quite frankly it was probably what my body needed. The massage was good. But the real kicker is the lack of room anywhere. It feels like everybody is on top of you because there's no room to maneuver about. For example, the bathroom in the locker room contains one shower, and then the locker room has an additional shower. So if one is used, you can't go to the bathroom, or if the other is used, it kinda feels like you have no privacy. (I used the one in the locker room cuz I figured someone may need to use the toilet so I'd keep that open, but then there were no hooks inside the shower so it reinforced that lack of privacy--I'd have to use the ones outside the door.) Speaking of the locker room, the place to get ready after your treatment was right by the door in the locker room so it felt like you were in the way as people would come in and out. I specifically asked my massage therapist to not touch my hair so I wouldn't have to wash it so I could more easily get ready when I was leaving. This is only a problem who intended for it to be a day spa, but if you have a room nearby you can just go get ready there. All of these are minor inconveniences but stacked, this just makes this spa not for me. I won't be returning.
