BEWARE! Terrible experience. DO NOT COME HERE. They don't deserve your business. Let me start off by saying - By nature I'm not a demanding, rude or difficult customer. Just so you can get the full picture of what it was like dealing with these people. So, I came up from LA to celebrate my little sisters 16th birthday. I wanted to take her to get her nails done. So, my boyfriend & I found this place randomly. We went in & from the moment we sat down, it wasn't good to say the least. They were giving the works - Talk bad about you, giving dirty looks, got sneaky with the prices, they're rude, don't listen, yell at customers. AND to top it all off - I got the worst manicure I've ever had(not kidding). These women are BITCHES. I couldn't believe it. I sit down with the nail tech.. her & another manicurists are talking in their language(not sure if it was korean, mandarin,ect). They would talk, then look right at me & give me dirty looks......Then talk some more, then look at me....talk some more, then look right at me. Come on! are you serious?!?!?! I don't understand what you are saying, but it was extremely clear they were talking shit about me. Right in front of me. Ugh. So uncomfortable & awkward. This was the first time my sister had her nails done. She asked me about what she should get. I told her just get acrylic. The manicurists doing her nails proceeds to argue with me, insisting that she get fiber glass. I said "no, acrylic will be fine for her". She continues to argue with me...So again I say "please acrylic will be fine". The woman doing my nails tells me, I need a full set. I told her that I didn't & that I just wanted a fill. She seemed annoyed. She didn't buff my nails to a smooth/even finish, so they ended up looking REALLY warped on the tops. I told her what shape I wanted but she didn't seem to comprehend. And proceeded to do whatever she wanted. So, in the end I was really unhappy with the over-all shape. My two index fingers were TOTALLY crooked because she didn't shape them correctly. It looked like I had crooked/broken finger. She told me that I had crooked nail beds(Which I don't, I can assure you). The real reason was that she filed them crooked. And once that mistake is made its hard to fix, because all you can do is make them shorter & shorter. FAIL. I also asked her to apply the acrylic thin & not thick....and guess what? Again, She didn't listen & seemed annoyed. So, the acrylic looked bulky & much thicker than I wanted. Oh also they gave us both prices up front BUT of course we ended up paying more. They charged to cut my nails. I've been getting my nails done since I was 15 & I've NEVER been charged for that before. Regardless, any additional charges should be included up front. I don't like getting little surprise charges at the end. By now my sister is finished & I ask my boyfriend to go pay the lady(thinking I'm just paying for acrylic). Nope. The women had put fiber glass on my sister. So, we were being charged $6-$8 more(I can't remember exactly). I asked why. When it was only supposed to be $20. The lady gets CRAZY & starts fully yelling at my boyfriend. I asked her "why did you do that"? I asked you TWICE to give her acrylic - Let me add that we are speaking in a normal respectful tone to this women but it makes no difference.... She continues to yell. She finally agrees to only charge for the acrylic price. Which was the only good thing they did for us. I just don't understand how you can treat your customers this way. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I hated the way my nails looked & I couldn't wait to get back to LA to have them re-done. As I walked out I really couldn't believe, I just had to pay for that horrible service. TIP: If you're ever in LA(in the Valley) & need your nails done. Go to Laurel Nails on Oxnard blvd. Stay away!!!!! Came in with a friend for a gel manicure and luxury spa pedicure. The woman helping me burned my pinky with the gel device and then dropped it into the pedicure basin which my feet were in. Luckily, I was able to remove them before being electrocuted. Most people would have flipped out but not I. Sad part, the ladies didn't even apologize. Smh. The finish product was just a 4 out of 10. Definitely, not worth the $61 I paid. I went here for a pedicure. It was not very pleasant, right from the start. The place is small and overly crowded. It's crammed with all kinds of things. They told me to take a seat next to another lady, who I later found out was an employee. She played loud music on her iPhone right next to me the whole time. And sometimes she started singing to it. Not very professional. And not very relaxing. They also had a large TV on. Again, not exactly a tranquil environment. They line the foot basin with a plastic covering that looks like a giant shower cap. I'm sure it was meant for one use only. If you keep using it over and over, which they do, then the water is not sanitary. That's how bacteria spreads. I also noticed that the woman doing my pedicure uses the same gloves over and over. Again, not sanitary. There are 3 types of pedicure you can choose from. I choose #2 because it includes an exfoliating scrub and I really wanted that. Unfortunately they don't put it on your feet, they put it on your legs. Then they rub it in over and over on the same spot, which was the top of my leg, on the bone. It was so uncomfortable I had to ask her to stop. Then they put lotion on and rub that same spot over and over. Again, I had to ask her to stop. Now had she been rubbing that into my calf muscle that might have felt good. But over and over on that bone was terrible. When she first started to apply the exfoliant to my legs I stopped her and asked if she could put that on my foot instead. She said she would, but that comes later in the pedicure. When she was completely done I said, "I thought you said you were going to exfoliate my feet?" She said she did when she used the pumice stone earlier. (sigh) Not what I was paid extra for. Another thing that pretty much ruined the experience is that she kept telling me to hold my feet up in the air for her. That is not relaxing at all. When I go for a pedicure I want everything done for me, otherwise I would do it myself at home. And lastly, when I go to pay, she tells me that unless I pay cash I have to pay an additional $1. As a lady mentioned below, they do talk on the phone occasionally while assisting you and often to one another - but I dont care... the prices are inexpensive and they do a great job. I really like this place. I first came here with some friends and got a pedicure. Very happy with sitting in a massage chair and the foot massage parts, pretty standard. The polish lasted over a month. The second time was before my bridal shower and I got a mani/ pedi. Again, the toe polish lasted a month until I came back again before the wedding. Note, I just got a regular mani and I work a lot with my hands, so the nail polish only lasted a week tops. But the customer service was fine, they were excited to get me and my mom ready for the wedding. One lady working on me kept talking a lot about her wedding, which was more interaction than I normally get at a nail place. I am used to the typical talking-about-you-in-Vietnamese! Although they also usually stop doing that as much when I tell them I've visited Vietnam. Anyway, I also liked that the door was open on a nice spring day so as to lessen the amount of fumes inhaled. I really wanted to give this place a good review because it's in my neighborhood and the pricing seems reasonable. But I went for the first time today for a pedicure and I cannot recommend it. I did not catch the name of the woman who did my pedicure, but she's the youngest one there. She spent a lot of time on it, in fact too long, because it was fairly painful throughout. Even the massage was mostly unpleasant. I think this might be a case of somebody who is just completely ill-trained or ill-suited for the job. My toe nails were cut too short, some crooked, and with no symmetry. One long, one short, one crooked...wtf? I thought the reviews complaining about the women speaking in their native language were petty, but there was so much chatter that throughout my leg "massage", she was so distracted that her hand was just sitting on top of my leg while she was talking to her coworkers, and I felt like a captive audience. I don't care what language they're speaking in, but I do want to get on with my life. Perhaps if the whole treatment had been more pleasurable and less painful, I would have a different perspective on that. ( resume the torture so I can get the hell out of here...) That said they were all very friendly and pleasant. I did not get the impression they were speaking ill of me or anyone else there.( That seems a little paranoid.) I've tried to do a walk in several times and all those times I get turn down and tell me to come back later on. I even called to see if they had walk in slots and they told me yes to come in. It took me 15 minutes to get there and of course, when I walk in they turn me down and say to come in later on. They should really have a sign for NO WALK INS. If I can give half of this one star I would. Last minute necessity for a pedi, I called and I was told to come in, in 15 minutes. As soon as I walked in I was asked to choose a color, I requested gel and she told me $13 more dollars for a gel color (which I thought was pretty high but since I have popped in here before and had a good experience I didn't think twice about it, now mind you- I never got asked which pedi service I wanted but again since I chose gel color I'm obviously serious about me feet) once I sat in the chair a man prepared the water which was Luke warm to cold smh as the lady was getting ready for my service she felt the water temperature so she turned the water back on. APPARENTLY some piece was missing from the faucet and the water sprayed up towards my seat! I got wet all between my legs (did i mention it's freakin COLD NOW) my pants and the front of my shirt were soaked. She handed me a towel- as I chose NOT TO BE RUDE! I proceeded to mind my business and do some reading, I didn't hover over her since like I mentioned before, the other times I have been here the results were great, not sure who she was but it looked like she ran the shop. I hop in bed after a nice shower and I notice my pedi was not worth it! The gel color is coming OFF- she didn't work my cuticles and she didn't clean at the sides of my nail bed. I don't have rough skin but we all know when it's time to get the next pedicure, with that said my feet feel like I NEED A PEDI! Wtf! I want a refund! They can have my tip-yes because although it SUCKED she still serviced me. Refund or they can make it up my providing me with a REAL pedi session. She came in a few minutes after and rescheduled so they sat me in the pedicure chair and had my feet soaking. 5 minutes later another girl comes in and they tell me that I have to wait 15 minutes since she came in and it'd be 2.5 hours to do my nails and toes after they had already started. I was offended when they tried to put on the gel color on without even giving me the full manicure that is included with a gel manicure, I could do that myself and home... for free! Don't get me wrong, the people who work there are very nice people and they do beautiful work, but I can't say I had a very good experience while I was there this evening. I arrived for my 4pm appointment, they were very busy and asked me to sit down and wait for the next available person to help me. After I had been waiting for 15+ minutes a woman walked in she loudly announced that she had walked by and was wondering if they could do her nails. An employee immediately stood up and asked her to sit down at her booth and got started on her nails. I had called ahead of time to schedule my appointment and had already been waiting to be helped now for 20 minutes after my scheduled time. After this an employee asked me to sit at her booth and I went over. I asked her for a certain length in nail for my Full Set and she cut them way too short and when I told her I would like them to be a bit longer she said that they were fine at the length they were, then during the application of the nails she cut me twice and I bled and she said to me "you shouldn't have moved your hand." I don't think I will be going back to Golden Nails again. Maybe this was just an unlucky experience that is extremely uncommon for this particular nail salon. read more

I thought I would try this place for a manicure because it is close to home. I did not have an appointment and I understand waiting is typical for a walk-in especially close to a holiday. What ticked me off most is that I was told it would be about 15 minutes (and I know it is never an exact time frame) but 45 minutes later and the (I presume) owner takes someone who came after me, with no appointment, and leaves me sitting.!! That young lady came in asking for a specific person who was busy and was going to leave but I believe because she was getting a more expensive procedure the owner didn't want to miss out on the $$$$ and chose to appease her. I finally get called over for my basic manicure and was repeatedly "encouraged" to upgrade to a pricier one. The minute she grabbed the electric "sander" I should just have gotten up and said no thank you goodbye. I am sure they must know (as I do now) that using that thing as a "shortcut" for removing cuticles is destructive to natural nails!! Plus she made me bleed! I asked for rounded filing and I got a mish mash of shapes. She kept trying to get me to change to gel polish and when that didn't work she offered to put a design but failed to tell me the extra cost up front. Thank goodness I said no before she started. I had an appointment today, April 8 2019 at 11:30 of which I walked in 6 minutes late and Michelle had stated that since I was late, she called someone else to take my appointment. Seriously, 6 minutes! By the time I found a parking slot, which I pointed out to her that I was less than 10 minutes late. I have to wonder how much she really waited? Then, she tried to explain it away by saying that I had a "no show" which was true last year. What she did not know is that my brother had passed away and I didn't get a chance to explain but it seemed not to bother her. But not even 10 minutes had passed which I pointed out to her which I find so convenient for her. So for those out there who make an appointment with her, keep note. Obliviously, it does not matter to those who come early in the past, which I have many many times who are directed to soak their toes in water who wait because they have come in time, which I have in many times past while she keeps me waiting, if you are late, she will call someone else! By the way, I have had a history with her. I went with her when she moved away from her previous employer (in which she personally called me to let me know she had moved). I have given her Christmas cards as a thank you in years past. I actually thought her as a friend, but in then end, I guess that doesn't matter. She wanted to pawn me off with someone else but honestly to her credit she is fantastic and I have been going elsewhere to some who were not as good as she was, so I refused, choosing to reschedule; hence I will keep you posted. She knows that I have to take a pain pill before seeing her because she really digs in there to take away the dead skin from another "bad experience" that turned into a toe fungus from a shoddy nail place. I dislike this place, I came in this morning to see if they could fix my nails because I didn't like the way they looked and if they could do a two years old simple nail polish because she wanted to do her nails. I used to take her to a place in Natomes but it's to far for me to drive. I was told with attitude that I would have to hold her hand/fingers steady and once I told them that she is used to getting her nails done they still gave me attitude about it. Then another lady looked at my nails and asked what was wrong with them I told her my thumb nail was not shaped right and I didn't like the color, she then takes her time looking at my nails to till me that she doesn't see nothing wrong with them and if I can come another day that another lady is there when there was THREE lady's already there and two of them where not doing anything, I have never left so mad from a place and they made my two year old feel bad she started crying because they where being so mean about her getting her nails done!
