Update: Today we decided as a family this is the last time we are coming to golden palace. After another failed attempt at redemption from this restaurant, we were once again unsatisfied at the service and food quality of Golden Palace. My dad and I both got bento boxes with teriyaki chicken. The chicken was bland, dry and the teriyaki tasted out of a bottle. My California roll was good, and so were my moms crispy noodles but we could not ignore the reheated rice on out plates. As a family that eats rice for every meal we can tell the difference from a fresh batch of rice and ones reheated. The rice was crunchy and dry. At this point we gave up caring. The multitude of flies would not leave us alone and we decided it didn't matter to complain. Sadly, next time my best friend comes to town, we are going to find a new place to enjoy chow mein. It is sad to see how this business has collapsed over the last few years. This place will need some drastic changes to ever see me or my parents here again. read more

After my encounter yesterday, this restaurant has really blown my mind. The owner is super sweet and the manager Norman is amazing! He called to apologize of what happened and when I went to go pick up my food, the owner was so professional and apologized for what happened yesterday. Decided to stop here after driving by and craving Chinese. Super happy I did! I got the pepper steak, Kung pow chicken, and the eel roll. All were delicious. I was super happy with the service. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly which is a huge plus in my book. And at the end they gave us a little fruit plate complementary for dessert. I will most def be coming back. read more

Food here is one of the best in Moraga. GP has become my first choice. Easy parking. In and out , easy too. They're a little unorganized in the dining room and could use a little coaching. I'd give them another star if they could fix the service. Try the basil chicken. Meats not fried in battter and the sauce is oh so tasty. Salt and pepper fish is also 'off the hook' good. Too bad it's battered and fried. But for some reason, I order it anyway. That was dinner. For lunch, I got the bento box with the sushi and was prepared for, well , you know. We were a little hesitant to try this spot because there was not very many people in there when we went in, but decided to give it a try! We are so glad that we did, the food was fresh, and good tasting. After we were seated we were brought a bag of fruit (three mangos) then a complementary order of sushi. Love this place. Servers are friendly and food has always been good. Usually one would squirm at a combination of Japanese and Chinese cuisine but Golden Palace pulls it off very well. Sushi and gyoza are tasty and their special golden fried rice (crab fried rice) is always on our list to order when we drop by. The only drawback for us is we don't live in Moraga, but it's always well worth the drive when we can stop by here. read more

Food was ok. The CA rolls tasted like mayo- but my daughter like them. The Mongolian Beek was Mongolian onions- only a few slices of beef. The Chow Mein was ok- my daughter thought the shrimp tasted strange. Very accommodating! My husband wanted to watch the NFL playoffs and they sat us right in front of the tv and changed the channel. Food came out quickly and was delicious and fresh. I had my lunch with my coworkers here today. I was skeptical at first because usually the mix of Japanese and Chinese cuisine is hard to keep the good quality the same level. After trying a few dishes, I was pretty surprised by the quality of food. We had the potstickers, you could totally tell that all the potstickers are home made, meat tasted very fresh, it was juicy, definitely not the frozen ones from supermarket. I also had the avocado nigiri, they really used at least half of the avocado to wrap around. Every thing was very fresh and the taste was just right to the point. Not greasy, not oily. There's nothing really extraordinary about an Avocado roll and Tomago in general because they might be some of the basic options at this restaurant, so i measure their stars by consistency. I can expect the same amount of sweetness in the tomago, the correct level of ripeness in Avocado and the same portion sizes overall. These are really important for me! We picked this place due to the ratings hoping that they rung true. They did not. We ordered "crab meat puffs" aka crab Rangoon, beef sticks, sesame chicken, and chicken fried rice. The crab meat puffs were a 3/5. And probably one of the better things we tried. The beef sticks were flavorless and we had one bite before we gave up on that venture (0/5). The sesame chicken was decent. It was a little chewy but taste wise it was good. It was a 3/5. And the chicken fried rice while the vegetable to rice ratio was great, the chicken was questionable and the rice overall had little to no flavor. But we loved the mangoes we got with our take out. We got our Lion King Roll, 49'ers Roll and Rainbow Roll. But my friend and I wanted to eat more. We asked the waitress for any recommendation. She told us that they're introducing Ankimo, which is fish liver. My friend and I were adventurous enough to try it. Of course, we did'nt regret it. It was the best. It was the freshest.
