This restaurant has been at its present location for over 30 years. It's been redecorated fairly recent and what I'd call a "traditional" Chinese restaurant. I introduced my daughters to Chinese food here and they still love to go here when in town. I recently took my oldest grandson here and he was delighted with the fried noodles and sticky rice. I never give 5 stars reviews .. Almost never but this is a true 4.5 star place. The BEST soups.. At least the hot & Sour, egg drop, and wonton soups are all the best.. I have eaten at most all the local Chinese places. The Shrimp with Lobster sauce is our fav.. We always get 6 large shrimp that are perfectly cooked. also the egg rolls are really good. Although we usually "dine in" about once a week the take out is super fast.. We call in an order and it's ready in 10 minutes. (Never order delivery so can't comment on that) .. Also, during the covid 19 crisis we have ordered pickup / carryout twice. Both times they were busy and I watched the staff carefully as I'm super concerned about germs. Both the check out girls and the food runner/chef were wearing masks/glove and the checkout girl sanitized her hands between each and every customer even though she was wearing gloves.. This made me feel much more at ease with ordering takeout and this was in Mid March before anyone was diligent about Covid 19 .. This is the only restaurant I will order takeout from during April 2020 as Covid 19 procedures they are practicing seem good. Oh and can't wait until they reopen dine in as the Older Asian gentleman waiter is so nice and always remembers we order the #8 special when I dine in with my mother .. The updated Golden Pavilion is excellent. The sushi is fresh and all the food I have ordered so far has tasted great. I have ordered the half peking duck, various soups, and various noodle dishes. The prices are great. They charge a $1 fuel charge for delivery, which I think is reasonable. I'm very happy that we finally have a good Asian restaurant in Bowie. read more

The last several times I have ordered from them, through a service they have contracted with, Beyond Menu, the order has come over an hour late. I've had to call every time. Tonight, it is well over an hour. I called them and they first blamed me for not calling them directly to place the order. Then they blamed Beyond Menu for not sending them the order. Then they miraculously found the order, but refused to take responsibility for not preparing it. They were rude, told me that if I didn't pay, they would not make the order. Right now, it is an hour and a half late. The food is okay, the closest asian restaurant to me, but this type of customer service is well below satisfactory. I ordered online for delivery, and hour after I ordered I called to check the status. I was told that it was on the way, without even asking me my name, address, phone number or what I ordered. A couple of minutes later, I get an alert on my phone that my order was just received! I called back and they said that the computer isn't working and that they are making it now... my lunch break is over. No apology, no offer for discount. They didn't even care. read more

This place was better before they closed and reopened a while ago. Delivery service is awful. I have gotten the wrong order last three times and I will never order again. Most recent time I told them it had been a while since I ordered because they can't seem to get it correct but girl on phone that took my order promised me she would get it right...NOT. When I called to tell them they got it wrong again they insisted they needed to come get food from me to confirm order was wrong. Guess they did not believe me. They forgot the rice for my son's order and instead of bringing the item I paid for, the manager argued that they "did me a favor" by delivering. Good egg rolls. Basics such as Lo Mein and fried rice better than some in the area. Sauces lack full flavor such as the Hunan and Szechuan. Forget about the Happy Family, very disappointing. Sometimes I think the meat may have sat out too long, little iffy. Portions could be a tad more. Not much to take home that I usually can at others. Best Chinese food around. Friendly staff, great food, nice atmosphere. There soft shell crab is great and I highly recommend you try it. If you prefer deliver try are fast to get it to you and my food is always warm when it arrives. read more

SCAM ARTISTS AND THIEVES. We placed an order with them online and when the driver showed up he told us that we had to pay cash despite using our credit card and since the resturant didn't send a credit card receipt it further confused the situatuon. We thought maybe it didn't go through and paid the driver including a 15 dollar tip. Later that night the resturant called us to know why we didn't sign the recipt. Explained what the driver told us, they then made excuse after excuse for his behavior. I told them I would contact my credit card company then they changed their tune. Asked me to come in the next day to pick up our money. Only when I showed up they had no idea what I was talking about. It was a bunch of drama. The driver walked away with a huge tip for ripping us off. The resturant did nothing to make this right. I will never order from them again, as I don't want a thief coming to my house again. read more

Pretty new look....I was hoping after the remodel the chefs would have changed. No such luck. The food is horrible, too much corn starch and low end sauce brands used. This is your typical Americanized Chinese dine in take out restaurant. Everything just taste ok. I've eaten general tsos chicken, sweet and sour pork, egg rolls, fried rice, lo mein, egg drop and wonton soup here and it just taste like ur typical American Chinese food. I order food here bcoz it's so close to my house that delivery doesn't take that long. But here's a positive their fried noodles that come with soup is good. After many many long years away from this local fav, I decided to give them a go under new name/menu/etc. First, I grew up in Bowie and remember the Golden P's day when it was truly the absolute best in the area. The egg rolls were heaven as I recall and the rest of the menu was tops. The chef back then was one of the best anywhere. Which brings me to the here n now. I yearn for the days of old and the old chef from the 70's. The restaurant is beautiful and when we went in to order (carryout) they were friendly and very helpful. The food was hit and miss. The egg rolls definitely weren't the egg rolls of my younger days. They were OK - I've had better. The fried wontons were excellent - crispy, not greasy and had a lovely filling w/the usual sweet n sour sauce on the side. My hubby had the wonton soup which he enjoyed. We ordered shrimp friend rice - not greasy, lots of shrimp, decent amount of egg, beansprouts, and onion and OMG NO FROZEN PEAS OR CARROTS!!!! So that got an automatic A plus. We ordered Szechuan chicken extra extra spicy and they delivered on the spice! There was a good assortment of fresh veg but light on the chicken. The heat eaters in our home said it was good. I ordered a long time fav of mine which is hard to find these days or find prepared correctly - Butterfly shrimp w/bacon. It was disappointing. Small shrimp, bacon OK and cooked in a large scrambled egg presented on iceberg lettuce. Sauce looked like Campbell's tomato soup w/some chili flakes. It didn't taste good and it wasn't prepared correctly. I asked for a veg roll - meaning Sushi roll or hand roll and was given two vegetable egg rolls. Ate there for the first time this evening. Decor was pleasant, surroundings clean. Ordered the Sushi Deluxe and Sashimi Deluxe which came with salad and miso soup. The dressing was a bit too tangy for my preference, and the miso soup was hot, but not the best I've had. Sushi was tasty and fresh as was the sashimi. I use to like this place but not so much anymore. I am 8 months pregers and wanted some egg drop soup soo bad. Got it and it was good until I noticed bugs floating in my soup!!!!! When I called and complained the manager told me I should have brought it in to get an refund. I will NEVER buy anything from here again and will be filing a report with the health department. We ate inside the restaurant about a month ago, and last night got carry-out. Both meals were very nice. The big attraction for me is that I know of only one other restaurant in Bowie serving sashimi, and for that reason alone, I'm giving them five stars. (The other one is Grace's Steak & Seafood. I've never understood why if you make sushi, you can't serve sashimi as well.) Last night we ordered a house green salad with ginger dressing, spring rolls, steamed dumplings, and my husband had crispy beef, all I would say typical Chinese carryout. But I had scallops with asparagus and brown sauce, and the scallops were as good as I've had in any restaurant, any price range. As to the other reviewer who complained about the brown rice, I ordered it last night, and definitely got brown rice. I even just got out leftovers to be sure I wasn't hallucinating last night -- and it was still brown rice, not flavored white rice. They deliver within a four mile radius of the restaurant, so that will be my next test -- sashimi, delivered! read more

This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Bowie area, indeed better than some highly rated Chinese restaurants in the DC area that we have tried. Last night my wife and I ordered sweet and sour soup, Singapore noodle and Mongolian beef. They were all excellent. They came with plenty of vegetables, relatively low amount of salt, and just the right amount of spices. However, some weeks ago their Sushi was not of high quality. If you are in mood for Sushi it is best to go to an authentic Japanese restaurant. About half of the restaurant is a pub with video screens that show games and half has dining booths. It is located in a shopping center that seems largely abandoned in the evening. So we do not see many people in the restaurant, which is a shame, given the high quality of food that it serves. I hope that people living in the area will give it a try since there are so few good restaurants in the Bowie area. read more
