Golden! Golden! As I open my eyes, hoping, to get focused and have that caffeine take me up to the sky! Make my day so bright, this coffee is just so right! Cause they're Golden! And they will definitely put you in a right state of mind. My first time around I had a specialty latte to go since it was really packed. After finishing my drink I just knew I had to go back. So my second time around I ordered the Yuzu Tonic, Espresso Shot and a Flat White. They all hit with flavor and potency plus the presentation was just what I wanted. The atmosphere was really quiet and you can hear the baristas convos and a couple of other customers. There's no music playing but I remember the first time going there wasn't any also but you can hear everything talking over each other, so strange. Service was great the first time around but not the second and you know what I say about a certain age minding the shop, LoL. Overall it's a great space to hang and throw back some caffeine. Parking can be Hella challenging but eventually something will open up. And that's my take on it, Peace out...

We came in on a Friday evening and there was luckily no line. This was my first time trying a coconut cloud matcha but it did not disappoint. I asked for it extra sweet and it was sooooo good. The yuzu tonic was also delicious. The space is really big and there's plenty of areas to sit, chairs, couches, etc. Perfect space for studying or relaxing and reading a book. I'll gladly return when in the area.

Drinks are really good. No up-charge for alternative milks! Many places charge for them which is super annoying. Offers are almond, pistachio, and oat milk for lactose intolerant folks. I get my usual iced mocha and do half pistachio milk and half oat milk. So so good. Huge space with a lot of seating and many restrooms.

I have gotten extremely fond of Golden State. They have wonderfully flavored espresso with lots of variety in coffee drinks and pastries. Their matcha and their iced Spanish latte are my favorites! Pricing is affordable. Baristas are always friendly and knowledgeable. They have lots of restrooms inside. There's a HUGE amount of indoor seating. I just wish they had more sizes than a 16oz and I wish they'd have a loyalty system. But definitely a 5 star coffee shop!

I was able to try the Iced Honey Lavender Latte and it was so good. The guy working was doing a good job greeting people and taking orders and fulfilling the orders. The coffee shop is huge with plenty of seats. It wasn't busy nor loud on a Wednesday morning so I would definitely come back to get a coffee and get some work done.

Obsessed with their chorizo breakfast sandwich. It has avocado!!

Just here to check in again and let y'all know that golden state still reigns supreme. They have it all, good coffee, good food, good pastries, plenty of seating, and service is always great!

Cool space with a lot of seating. One of the workers could not be bothered as he was busy talking to his friend the whole time. Coffee was okay, I got the london fog latte and wish it was a little sweeter.

Phenomenal spot!! The location is in Old Towne Placentia which is already a vibe for me, it reminds me of my home country so much. It's right next to the metro station so there's lots of parking nearby on top of street parking. This was our first time and it did not disappoint! Not only is this place HUGE but it's so nice inside and comfy and such a great spot to hang out with a large group or even come to study! They have the roaster out on the floor as well that you can see behind glass windows which just added to the ambiance inside. The barista was sweet and answered all my questions. Food and drinks came out fast! I am still currently caffeine free so I ordered a hot chocolate with a turkey sausage breakfast sandwich. It was so delicious and hit the right spot!! They also have tapatío in the middle counter in case you need spice like I do. My husband got their famous Spanish latte iced! He said it was on the sweeter side and was glad he also ordered a double shot of espresso on the side to toss into it. So keep in mind you may want to add shots if you like your drinks stronger. He also had the chorizo breakfast sandwich and it was very well made and didn't need any added spice. We will definitely be back here! Such a good hang out spot for large groups!!

Very very good coffee with lots of space to sit and chat. The regular menu is solid and the seasonal drinks are very unique. My current favorites are the blackberry tonic and summer camp cookie.

This coffee place is awesome!! There is so much great seating since with outlets, free WiFi, and a clean restroom. They have food, pastries, and delicious coffee. I got a Spanish latte and it was delicious! Great and strong tasting espresso. Staff is also super friendly and there is lots of free parking.

I would definitely recommend this place!! It is so chill and cozy definitely a hidden gem and a great place to study and do work! Also points to them for keeping my left AirPod safe definitely try their matcha with the amazing cold foam! I will definitely be coming back

Super friendly staff in a beautiful antique building with plenty of space to set up to study or meet up with friends. It's located in a historic brick building with nooks and outlets ready to charge a laptop. There's also a large window where you can watch the roasting process happen.

Will Golden State ever offer bigger sizes besides 16oz, I really wish I could get a large 24oz iced latte?

They have a small patio outside, so yes

Do they sell coffee beans in store?

Tim, sorry for the delay, yes absolutely we sell them in the store. Thanks!

Are you open for indoor seating? (looking for a place to study away from the hot weather!)

Hi! Yes, we’re now able to offer limited indoor seating. Our Wi-Fi also reaches the tables located immediately outside our cafe. Hopefully cooler weather will arrive soon! Thanks for reaching out!

What is the parking situation like? Is there a private lot or is it street parking only?

Street parking and there's a small lot across the street next to the bridge that goes across the train tracks. If there's no parking (there's always parking), you can park at the public lot off Crowther before Cameron where the bridge is at and…

The royal milk tea was decent but not as flavorful as I had hoped. Since I had asked for less sweetness, that may have reduced the flavor. I did enjoy the bagel as it had fresh lox. The capers were a lovely garnish since they definitely enhanced the flavors from the cream cheese and lox. The cafe is quite cozy with its homey structure. It's quite inconspicuous if driving past the cafe, but as we walked toward it, we noticed customers using their patio. We were greeted as we walked up to order using the kiosk. A few of the tables have handwritten notes underneath clear glass. I noticed many heartfelt messages that sparked my imagination as to how the writers must've felt. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere with chatter from local customers who seemed to know the owners well. We had also played a card game after eating, so this cafe is good for that as well. The owners were friendly and even took our plates and cups once we were finished. There's very limited parking right next to the cafe, so I had to make use of residential streets. However, it's worth making a trip here to try this coffeehouse. Also, It's interesting how they open early at 7 am per Google Maps. I usually don't see cafes opening that early, but this is a good tidbit of information for the future.

Omg! I just moved to the North OC area, and I'm happy to say I've found one of my new go-to coffee…read moreshop study spots in the area! :) I'm currently studying for a big exam, and it's been surprisingly challenging finding coffee shops to study at with the beautiful, modern, aesthetic ambience that makes me happy, without feeling anxious there won't be enough seats or space when I get there, esp since I have to drive a decent amount to get to cafes. I've been getting a little stir crazy at home and finally making the trek here was so worth it-- I felt more motivated than ever to get work done with a tasty treat. I'm not sure if it's because CSUF just started this week, or because I came on a Friday morning, but it was really spacious and open with tons of outlets (almost at each table). Not sure how other days are, but I'd love to bring my study group friends here in the future, since it's so hard to find places with enough space for study groups! Not to mention the clean bathroom haha and good wifi haha The staff here is also incredibly sweet and friendly, making it a comfortable and good experience. Because it was my first time, I asked the barista about her recommendation, and she also asked my general preferences to cater to my taste, and I ended up with a seasonal Birthday Cake Americano at half sweetness (since I don't have much of a sweet tooth). It was perfect for me! I don't usually get Americanos and have a sensitive stomach rn, but it was delicious and kind on my stomach lol. I also got a ham and cheese croissant, and maybe it could've been heated up a little more, but I did wait a bit to eat it, so it was no big deal. The other barista was also so sweet in answering my many questions haha The only struggle as others have mentioned is the parking - I ended up parking at the retail parking nearby, which had plenty of spots but can get pretty pricey, and it sounds like you can park in the areas others have mentioned still (like The Hub I guess has "New Here" parking spots or the employee parking spots?), so I'll need to look more next time. But there's quite a bit around the area within walking distance, you can easily make a day out of it too. Also since it is at the first floor of an apartment in a college town, there will be students going in and out, so just be prepared for that haha -- reminded me of dorm days, and I'm glad students have a spot like this :) Overall, the yummy coffee, amazing vibe and beautiful ambiance, especially as a study spot, alongside the kind and comfortable service has been just what I've been looking for in a coffee shop around here, and I'm excited to return! Thank you New Here!

But fear not, you can go into the structure, park in one of the "employee only" spots, and just tell them which spot and you're golden (wish I knew that before I came and parked across the street). Also, another reason why this place is great is that it's not full at all. Might be because of the parking situation, but the place is near empty which makes it have a nice luxury vibe. Their Vanilla Thesis drink at 50% sweet is soooo good. It's a great blend of coffee and tastes great. You can totally taste the vanilla. Their ham and cheese croissant is also great.

I did want the strawberry matcha, but I think the employee might have misheard me. They have coconut milk! I was happy they have more options than most places. Anyway, it's fine, because the drink is still a matcha, which was what I wanted. The matcha was extremely bitter before mixing. I almost thought it might be unsweetened, but after using a straw to stir, it tasted just right. There are books and board games here. Overall, very clean and modern look. A little worried I might not be able to sleep early today, but at least the drink is yummy! The second time, I have proof so I know for sure I asked for strawberry matcha. Will I be able to try it? Maybe they ran out, or maybe they forgot. Either way, I've been paying a little extra for it each time. It is a little busy on a Thursday morning. Croissants look great and huge, but cost about the same as a drink. The matcha itself tastes okay. However, there is too much ice in there for my liking.

I am writing this review because a few of my friends and I have frequented this coffee shop for a few years now, but we wont be back for a while. Months ago, one of my friends had made a visit and overheard an elderly woman making a negative comment about a Pride flag displayed by the register. Obviously other customers comments cant be or shouldn't be controlled by the company, but we were extremely disappointed to find out that since that comment was made, the Pride flag has been taken down. I had ran in to grab a drip before work one morning and noticed that some of the baristas also no longer had their Pride flag pins on. This clearly has details I am unaware of but it seems obvious that corporate had those images removed. This makes me and my friends feel very uncomfortable with how this situation was treated. I wouldn't recommend any of my friends to support this kind of activity. One very simple solution for you: Bring back the flag and you'll bring back our buisness! If you're worried about more complaints from individuals like the elderly woman, maybe fly an American flag as well I simply want people to feel safe and accepted.

Unfortunately, this visit was one disappointment after another. We arrived at 8:30 a.m. hoping for a peaceful coffee-and-breakfast morning. Instead, we accidentally wandered into what felt like a Janis Joplin tribute concert. The music was blasting at nightclub volume--not exactly the relaxing start to the day we had in mind. But surprisingly... that wasn't even the worst part. The food was incredibly disappointing. I ordered the breakfast burrito, and the potatoes were still raw--hard enough to remind me they were once part of the ground.. My husband ordered the French toast, which looked suspiciously like it took a quick detour from Trader Joe's frozen aisle before landing on our table. There's nothing wrong with frozen French toast... unless you're charging $14 and calling it brunch. Another friend ordered the granola with berries. After a few bites, he gave it a skeptical look, pushed the bowl away, and decided breakfast simply wasn't worth the gamble. The coffee was decent , but honestly wasn't worth fighting the neighbors for a parking spot!
