(Really 4.5 stars, but I'm rounding up here in good faith.) We've hired Carlos and his crew a few times now, thanks to a house full of fifty year old galvanized pipe. We finally decided we were tired of having a plumbing emergency every couple of months, and hired GSP once more, to replace every pipe in the house: new copper on the service side, new ABS on the drain side. The Good: GSP's crew showed up on time every day of the job, and always communicated what rooms they'd be working in, when the water would need to be shut off, when inspections would happen, and everything else pertinent to the job. After all the pipes were replaced and the water was back on, we've had zero leaks or issues. Everything just worked, the first time. This is really a testament to the care and quality that GSP puts into their work! Carlos was particularly generous with his time during the project, and helped us with some minor plumbing jobs that were clearly not part of the scoped work. He patiently answered a thousand of my questions and never seemed annoyed or rushed. There were little touches I was very impressed by: without asking, the GSP crew re-routed one of my hose bibs to make it easier to access & use, for example. The Bad: We had a misunderstanding around the water heater, which was also replaced as part of the job. I expected a 50 gallon unit but a 40 gallon unit was installed. Not a big deal for us since it's a small house, but I'm a little disappointed to not get what was written in the job spec, nonetheless. We understand it doesn't make sense to clean everything at the job site for the end of each work day, only to come back in a few hours and mess it all up again. However, because the job site in question was the home we were living in, this was a bit of a hardship. We spent many evening hours sweeping, scrubbing, and vacuuming up drywall and assorted dust that was left behind, so we could sit on our couch, or cook a meal. The Verdict: We are very happy with our new pipes, clean water, and improved pressure! We would absolutely hire GSP again for a job of any size. The most important thing for us was the job being done with quality, and both the materials and workmanship provided by GSP have that, in spades! read more

Ok it's 4-1-19 also know as April fools day. We had to call a plumbing service for a backup in our dishwasher that has been repaired twice before and was never right. So we called on Carlos with Golden State. Here is the joke. He came on time ready to work and as nice as he could be, he did the work others said they had done, he screwed the machine into the countertop which should have been done with the installation. Carlos and his team have done a significant amount of plumbing for us in 2023. They have fixed a leak under the kitchen sink, replaced the waste lines under the house, and replaced both the sewer line and fresh water line in the yard. The plumbing dated back to the late 1940's, so it was a relief to have it replaced before a failure. Their work has always been professional, timely, and code compliant. We were updated for their arrival at least the day before. Any disruptions to our water or sewer services were minor and always lasted less than a day. Carlos also added very useful modifications to the original layout, in order to modernize everything and provide easy access when needed. Carlos spent 4 1/2 hours fixing an external water pipe to prevent it from leaking. As far as we can tell it now works. He charged $1247. When asked he said he does not charge by the hour. I could not get a clear answer on how he calculated his charge. He would not consider less. read more

I called Golden State Plumbing today as recommend by a close friend. We were in a bind to get the leaking kitchen drain (60yr old cast iron) repaired. The estimate was in line with what I expected ( what do I know about plumbing, except it needs to be done expertly and reliably!!). Carlos was not able to come but Luis did and was very knowledgeable about what was needed and how to approach it, as well as what other side issues to look for (other failing joints). I was referred to Carlos by another contractor who did great work for me on 19th st. in San Jose. I was told he could do big difficult jobs that most plumbers don't want to do at a fraction of the cost. Carlos said he would be here between 8-9am on Nov.4 to do the repair. He showed up a couple minutes right before 8am. with a team of guys to do a complete remove and repipe entire inlet water pipes. He change out 90 year old galvanized pipe with new copper lines. The following weekend we replaced the entire sewer line in kitchen bathrooms. Carlos kept me updated with timing and what his next step through the whole process of pipe replacement. My pool pump was having trouble holding prime because of an air leak on the suction side. After a pool company tried replacing much of the above-ground plumbing to no avail, they left me with a pump that would not prime at all. They recommended calling an underground leak detection company. I called GS Plumbing instead, and I am happy that I did. With a little digging, Carlos was able to locate an underground pipe leak quickly on his first visit. He came back the next day to replace the broken pipe as well as other old pipe sections which could have caused problems in the future. He did an excellent job at a reasonable price. Golden State Plumbing was recommended to us by a relative so we used Carlos for a couple of small plumbing issues at our duplex and residence. Then one day we discovered our clean out had "exploded" in the front yard. Carlos responded immediately to our call for help and assessed the situation. He thoroughly reviewed the piping both outside the house and under the house and let us know we had a bigger problem on our hands. He explained in detail what was happening with the pipes and what needed to be done including taking us through the inside of the pipes with his camera from the house out to the street. Basically a complete re-piping needed to be done from under the house all the way out to the street. This included taking up a portion of our concrete driveway, digging 6 foot deep holes, digging under the house, etc. Quite the project.
