Please be careful when dealing with this company. I had a bad encounter with the contractors used by this business. Very rude men who could barely communicate showed up saying they had a work order to install a water heater when in fact it was a quote request by my landlady to confirm cost and access installation. When I explained that we were not installing it today they wanted payment of $2750 for installation even if they were not doing the work because they had a work order on their phone and they showed up to install. They were upset because they weren't getting paid for coming out and completing the work order. I offered to pay them a service charge just to get them to leave. But was told I need to pay the full work order amount of $2750 even if they weren't doing the work. This business needs to screen their contractors. read more

I had a good experience for a small problem we had where one of our pipes had a small leak that was showing through our first floor ceiling, about 18 inches in diameter. To summarize everything: - Gave them a call on a Monday - They had someone come out that day to inspect the issue. - They came back the next day, cut a hole in the ceiling, further inspected the pipe, then went to a hardware store to get the proper parts. - They cut off the necessary pieces, and replaced + welded everything they needed to, which took about 1.5 hours. - [[HIGHLIGHT]]The person who I scheduled with, and the person who performed the work were both pleasant to work with.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - They offered to have someone else come in to patch the hole in the ceiling (paining not included) but I denied that service as I wanted to get a few other drywall repairs done through a different party. - The charges for the labor was fair - [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a small billing issue, but they were quick to resolve it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] read more

I am 81 and my master bath shower hot water valve needs repair or replace. They were referred by Saratoga plumbing supply. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called to make an appointment. Got a great plumber who has had to replace entire shower as the entire plumbing (and tile) needs needed redoing. Koehler parts on existing could not be replaced as discontinued long ago. My wife visiting her family collapsed going to funeral in Missouri. Hospitalized several months and unable to fly home. I am in Missouri now helping to get her settled int Hospice. San Jose Plumbing was aware of this. In my successful business career I never did not return a phone call or not show for an appointment. I was a self employed Mortgage Broker 30 years. We took his suggestion and inquired if we should re-pipe the entire house as well. Recently had some work done because of some leaking showers. I called and was greeted by friendly staff who were able to get me an appointment relatively quickly. Received a time window and plumber showed up within that time frame. Very nice gentleman arrived and was able to tell me what needed to be done and what it would cost. Price was pretty comparable to most in the area so really no surprise there. Plumber went out to get the parts (you will be charged for that time) and returned fairly quickly and was able to complete the job. Plumber cleaned up the work area and made sure that the problems were fixed. I would of given 5 stars however when I was given the invoice I was told that if I pay with credit card there would be a 3% charge. Basically the company passes on the charges they receive for processing credit cards. I understand why they are doing as it can be pretty expensive however I think at the time of booking the appointment that should be explained to the customer but that's partially on me as well for not asking, lesson learned. I have used San Jose Plumbing in the past and been very happy with their service. But last week, they come to our regarding a slow draining kitchen sink. The technician snaked the pipes from the outside clean out twice, claiming he had put 75 feet of snake in (75 feet would have put his snake into our neighbor's house). He went under the house and told me because of a bend in the pipe his snake was not able to clear the clog. I ran water in the kitchen sink and both bathroom sinks, and they drained with no problem. He suggested using a Hydro Jet to clear the clog, stated that San Jose Plumbing does not have that equipment, and recommended another company. According to their website, San Jose Plumbing DOES offer Hydro Jet services. When he gave me the invoice, he asked that I make the check out to him personally. I thought he was kidding and asked why. He said it was because he went under the house, and asked again that the check be made out to him. When I asked "why not San Jose Plumbing", he said - "Oh, yeah - San Jose Plumbing." I contacted San Jose Plumbing the next day, but have not received a reply. read more

Update on the work they did four years ago to install French drains and two outdoor sump pumps...in the heavy rains this winter, one of the sump pumps failed. They came back out and at a managerial level agreed to replace the pump with an even stronger one, at no cost. The plumber Hammer worked very hard and labored through the rain. The new pump has valiantly operated through the waves of storms which have since been occurring, including ones dropping three inches of rain in a day. And throughout the past few years, the French drains have operated magnificently. One hopefully constructive suggestion (the only reason I am not providing another five star review): they showed up two hours later than their appointment window. I can see from other reviewers that SJP has stood them up or been delayed. It should be an easy, standard practice for their plumbers to simply phone in if they are likely to run late in a job and have a central dispatcher apprise the clients lined up for later in the day, so customers can adjust their plans and get errands or other things done rather than waste hours in a day waiting for a plumber who already knows he is running late. This small investment of effort is not just courteous, but would also increase tips, business, and ensure more positive feedback for attracting other potential customers. read more

Kevin (the founder/owner) was still working in the field and still is as far as I know. We called them to install a main line clean out a couple years back. Kevin came out and did some 'experienced investigating' and started digging a 12x12 area. Shazam! We already had a clean out that had been covered for decades. My family has lived in our home for 55 years and never knew it was there. Kevin's honesty and professionalism saved us over $1000! He did the work himself and was here until after 8pm. My water heater broke and called San Jose Plumbing for a quote for installing a new one I bought from Home Depot. Upon arrival of the installer, he charged a lot more than what was discussed on the phone prior to making the appointment. When I asked him why such a big difference, he got agitated and said the parts (just some copper tubing) would cost $200 addition. And then another $100 for hauling the old water heater away which was not brought up on the initial quote. If it was not under the cold weather which I needed the replacement water heater installed, I would have gone some place else. After the job was done, I asked other installation companies and they all quoted hundreds of dollars less. My faucets and PRV were squeaking since a month. I had called a plumber to take a look earlier and he recommended replacing the PRV. For $500!! Then I remembered that San Jose Plumbing's Kevin had installed it about 6 years back. I gave them a call and explained the issue and asked them to quote me for changing the PRV. Kevin came to take a look. He said the PRV does not need to be changed. Just a few turns of thread and the squeaking stopped. We worked with San Jose Plumbing for our whole home re-pipe project this past summer and we couldn't be happier with the results. From our initial contact with Adam to obtain a quote we knew he was the guy we wanted to work with. SJP wasn't the cheapest quote, but our gut instinct told us to not skimp on this and we are so glad we listened. Adam provided a detailed quote and scope of the project and made sure that our expectations were met. Although the scope did change for us due to our desired upgrades and ability to find the fixtures we wanted, Adam remained open to our changes and worked with us to update the quote in a very fair manner. There isn't much to say about the crew he assigned to our project except, THEY WERE AWESOME! Israel was our Project Manager and I am so grateful for his expertise and professionalism throughout the process. He made sure that we were updated on the status throughout the day. Two things that really stood out were: 1. We have cats and we had to lock them in a side room during the project, which wasn't an issue for us or the cats. I mentioned that one of them was skittish and we needed to check in on him often to keep him calm with all the noise going on. This prompted his team to really focus the first day on cutting all of the pipes which was the loudest part of the project. They did so and the rest of the week was relatively quiet. I really appreciated the awareness and accommodations made for our poor furbabies. 2. While they were inspecting the pipes, they encountered an issue. We were told that our water would be hooked up at the end of each day so we could carry on with our lives each evening. However, since our pipes were extremely old and damaged, this would not be possible for the first evening. Upon discovery of this, Israel immediately reviewed this with me and involved me in the decision to proceed or not. I appreciate the involvement, but more importantly valued their immediate honesty with us when they found out they would not be able to honor an agreement they've made. What's even more impressive, we received a call from Adam that evening to apologize AND the next day they showed up with an extra team member to ensure that we would have at least one fully functional bathroom by the end of the day so we would not have to go another evening without water. Turned out, they had our whole house up and running by the end of that day. New tankless water heater and all. The next couple days were finishing touches and inspection. We can't thank Adam, Israel, Julio, and the rest of their team enough for giving us a whole new life with strong, clean water. read more
