The waitress made sure that we got to our movie on time, I haven't seen generosity like that in a long time. The restaurant had beutiful paintings that made you feel like you were in Tiah land. I ordered the red curry and liked it. The quantity was substantial and it tasted good. My husband ordered the beef pho and really liked it. They dont have pho in their dinner menu but he asked and they gave it to him anyway. While we really liked the food, we didn't think it was very authentic. They had beans and cabbage in the red curry which i haven't really seen in the more authentic thai restaurants. We would definitely go back. read more

This was not a good meal. I ordered Pad Thai for lunch. It was around $15 which was more than I wanted to pay to begin with, but I was willing to if it was good. I had also been assured that for the islands it was a reasonable price. Like I said all of that would have been fine if it tasted good. There was barely any sauce on the noodles and it was tasteless, colorless and unrecognizable. I was assured it was gluten free so I ate it and didn't have any issues with getting sick but it was a pretty miserably boring meal. Unfortunately this place was not good. We got the pad thai and it was bad. Weird noodles, no vegetables, and made us feel sick. Also pretty expensive, but I do understand everything's more expensive on the island. Maybe some other dishes would be better. We ate here twice during our stay on Friday Harbor. The first time was because this is pretty much the only place that is vegan-friendly, but the second time is because the food was so good! Its a thai restaurant that is also influenced by the owner's Laoation background. So it has the typical dishes you'd expect, plus unique and tasty dishes. During the day it runs very casually, or more of a "pay per scoop" sort of joint, where there is already prepared food and you choose the items you want. We went for dinner and the whole restaurant changes for dinner, there are lovely table cloths, and you order from the menu. I highly recommend the "sidewalk noodles." It's walking distance from the ferry terminal, and if you are in a hurry, tell the waitress what ferry you area scheduled to take and they will ensure you make it. We parked our car in the ferry lanes and went and had dinner in plenty of time before our departure. They close @ 9 - it seems this city goes to sleep early, so eat early. read more

This place is by far the best restaurant for lunch on the island! We ordered a pho, a fried rice, a pad thai for entrée and a "wrap it yourself" appetizer. The food is so good! The appetizer is very lime-y and tastes very fresh. The pad Thai noodle is a bit too soft but the flavoring more than made up for it. Everything is just so tasty! The main dining hall had high ceilings and lots of windows so on a sunny day you get to stay in an air conditioned room and enjoy natural sun light! We've come here a couple of times now when up in Friday Harbor. It's a nice change from pub food. We were really surprised how good the food was after our first visit. It's excellent Thai, and just a little different. Better than several places around Seattle. Chicken Larb is one of our standard measures. Great version here with romaine lettuce. Also great coconut curry. And some interesting noodle dishes, which show the Lao influence. Come to think of it, some of the best Thai food we've had was in Laos. Very friendly waitress. She comes and checks on spice level after the first dish. Also recommend the lime or mango slushy drinks when it's hot out. read more

We were looking forward to trying this restaurant, which combines cuisines from Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. It didn't disappoint! The prices were on the high side, but the wide variety of menu items (including lots of veggie/vegan options) and service were great. My gf got the Hall Moak Talay, a fancy red curry made with coconut milk that comes with a wide variety of seafood (including mussels, crab, shrimp, squid, and scallops), and she loved it. I decided on the Rama with tofu; the sauce was on the sweet side for me, but it was full of lots of different well-cooked veggies and crisp tofu cubes. Everything was supplemented with a fun bar of hot sauces, so you can season to taste. There's also beer and wine available for purchase. The food was solid and tasty, and the best part of the meal came afterward when we met the chef/owner. She's fantastic--Laotian with a Vietnamese husband and hailing from Alaska--and has been thriving in this location since 1997. She sealed the deal with her passion and delicious food. My friends and I went to the Golden Triangle for dinner on a bike camping trip this weekend. It was great! I love when Thai places know what vegan is and can make pad thai with no eggs and no fish sauce! The portions were large, I had leftovers to eat on the 50 mile ride back home! I was born in Thailand, but I grew up in America, and I happen to know that it's insanely hard to find to find Thai food here that tastes like anything you could get in Thailand. This place has it. Don't expect anything gourmet -- this is go-to-your-Thai-friend's-house-and-eat-her-mom's-food kind of restaurant. Delicious, simple, and authentic. Thanks to Golden Triangle, I can now add Friday Harbor to my list of American towns (which include Portland, Berkeley, and LA) where I've found legit Thai food. Golden triangle is not your typical American style Thai restaurant. The lovely ladies that run this place come from Laos, and serve some very fresh and tasty SE Asian cuisine. Ask her about the menu, which dishes are Laotian, and what is good. If you simply order the wontons expecting deep fried cheese balls, you may be disappointed. A happy family and wise choice when it came to our dinner for our first evening here in Friday Harbor, WA. We didn't know what we were walking into but came across Golden Triangle as we were strolling the streets for a place to dine. Saw some yummy looking pictures of dishes they offered and we decided to give them a try...BEST.MOVE.EVER. We started off with their steamed mussels and after the first bite, we knew we were going to enjoy our meal. The steamed mussels are infused with a plethora of fantastic flavors: kaffir lime, Thai basil, galangal (ginger), garlic and homemade goodness. We polished off the mussels but saved the broth to slaughter over our rice. Funny thing is that the waitress told us to do the same and we're thinking "We're wayyyyyy ahead of you Mama!". The pad see ew was our Son's choice and he was pleased with the thick saucy rice noodles and nicely marinated beef. The Husband polished off the curry crab with his "five finger lickin' good" seal of approval. It was fresh with a mild curry flavor which accented the taste of the crab. I ordered the Seafood Combo with kareng ped curry and their sauce is amazing. Crack sauce is what I call it and I was drenching everything in it. Its addicting, flavorful and just downright pure yumminess. If you are a curry coconut fan...this is the dish to order. You will not be disappointed. read more

I really love this place and of my three visits to the island, I went here every time. The food is always fresh and the menu offers unique flavors. This last visit I had the sidewalk noodle dish which was delicious. A friend ordered the ginger curry and I could not believe how good this tasted! As a vegan, I was impressed that the menu had a statement about vegetarian and vegan options and all you have to do is let them know when you order and you can feel assured your food choices will be honored. The soups state it is made with chicken broth, but vegan options can be ordered for these as well which will be freshly prepared. I plan to go back next time I visit the island as well. read more

Good thai, excellent service for a very busy night. Can't really complain about the price, nothing on the island is reasonable, but maybe a bit higher than you would expect for thai. You choose spicyness in a 1-10, but my 5 was very mild, so if you like typical thai heat, you best move into the 8+ range I would guess. read more
