Some friends came in from out of town craving Chinese food, so we all met up at Golden Wok for dinner. I love the dining area and that they have a full bar, and some of the group ordered cocktails. I stuck with the hot tea and water. We had a party of seven and they moved a couple of tables around for us which was really helpful. I was having trouble deciding what to get since everything sounded so delicious, but ultimately settled on broccoli beef. We also got some cream cheese rangoons and egg rolls to share. The appetizers came out quickly and they were hot and fresh. The cream cheese rangoons were listed that way on the menu (not as "crab rangoons") and I think that's on purpose as I didn't notice any crab at all in them. I didn't really care because they were super crispy and delicious, but something to keep in mind. The egg rolls were the best I've ever had! They were super stuffed with meat and veggies (the menu says they have beef, chicken, shrimp, celery, and cabbage), full of flavor, and perfectly crispy (not chewy as I've experienced elsewhere). There was an extra one and I was lucky enough to snag it. These are a definite repeat order for me. I'm so glad I tried the broccoli beef because it was perfect. The broccoli was plentiful and crisp-tender, and the beef was all cooked well and really tender. The sauce was so good too! There was plenty of rice to share and when we ran out, they happily brought more. Next time I'm craving Chinese food I will definitely be picking up some takeout from Golden Wok. Last week, we stopped by Golden Wok for a late afternoon meal. The restaurant was open, and one man took our order and prepared the food. We had a 15-minute wait, and when our dishes arrived, they were piping hot. I ordered the fried rice with beef, while my wife chose the cashew chicken. We treated ourselves to an appetizer of cream cheese rangoons. The ambiance is a bit dark, but still feels inviting. Parking was ample, and we found a spot close to the restaurant. Sesame chicken Wonton soup Whole thing cost $24. There were two wontons in the soup and all the vegetables tasted freezer burned. Rice was dry (like how does this even happen?? I know you're just using a rice cooker), egg roll was good, wonton was so tiny but had good flavor, and the chicken was alright, a bit too sweet for my liking. But the whole meal was just so overpriced. And this was the lunch special deal. I hate being so negative but l can't recommend this spot to anyone. read more

Way too many Chinese places in the area to consider this one. The food was either too salty or just bland. The fried rice was okay but since it's easily made at home, there's no point in paying for it elsewhere. On top of that, the waitress was horrible. Acted like we were a burden for coming in. She only asked us for what we wanted as our main course the second we sat down and got annoyed when we asked for drinks or any other question. It was our first time there and she made us feel stupid for not realizing we paid up front. When I didn't leave a tip, she had the audacity to point it out and ask for one. Came here on a Sunday for lunch. Was immediately seated and was asked if I wanted tea. Waitress took my order promptly and was very friendly. Ordered a Fried Wonton (meat stuffed) and a Curry Chicken. The curry chicken came with hot and sour soup and an egg roll. The egg roll, although mostly cabbage was still tasty. It came with a dipping sauce that enhanced the flavor. The soup is delicious -- not too hot or sour, but with just enough taste to keep you eating it. Lots of mushrooms and tofu in it as well. The fried wonton pieces were a bit on the smaller side and did not have as strong of flavor as I had hoped. Perhaps would skip this appetizer next time. However, the curry chicken came out with a side of rice and made up for it. There was plenty of chicken and vegetables in it to satisfy any hunger craving. It was all soaking in a medium spiced curry which when poured over the rice, made an amazing combo as expected. Overall, love the food and service. So happy we tried it! We were looking for some Sunday take-out. A few weeks ago we were all reminiscing about the good old Chinese (Americanized a bit) restaurants. Heavily Cantonese and American style dished like chop suey, egg foo young, etc. The kind that gives you an almond cookie. I can't believe we never tried Golden Wok. We did carry-out. They looked to be very Covid-careful. Glad to see because we do not go to places that play fast and loose with public health. In short, we had a delightful meal. Their hot and sour soup is very good and filled with all the things it should. I have not had egg foo young in ages and the got it right. The patties were nicely browned. The gravy had lots of goodies in it. The rest of the family was very happy with the ma po tofu, General Tso's, and Kung Pao chicken. We will never go back again!!! 1) When placing order over the phone, they said that there was a price difference for paying cash (5% less) vs paying with card. We said we would pay with cash but upon arrival, the cash price was the same as paying with a card. We stopped at an ATM in a snow storm to pay with cash - we would have saved the extra stop if we would have known that the price was the same. WHY specify a price difference to your customers if there isn't one? 2) We ordered chicken fried rice and there was not one but TWO SEPARATE hairs in the food. Absolutely disgusting and inedible. 3) We ordered beef and broccoli as one of our entrees. There were only a couple of pieces of beef in the order, certainly not enough to justify the price tag. 4) The crab ragoons were soaked in oil and had no crab, just cream cheese. read more

Every time I've gone here for dinner, albeit early dinners because I've only gone here with my grandparents, the place isn't overwhelming busy. Staff is always friendly. The food isn't bad - I've had better Chinese food; however, this place is right on par with your stereotypical Chinese restaurant. I love (and struggle with) the MANY menu options. They have vegetarian, pork, chicken, beef, and seafood options. The egg rolls are definitely a win here. Vegetables in dishes always appear fresh, the meat has never been dry. And finally, I love how I can adjust spice levels of dishes - for example, I like SPICY food. The waitress recommended a "heat" level, but also provided a side of red chili sauce on the side for me, should I require more heat (I did...). Best egg drop soup and egg rolls ever!! Service is always good. We enjoy eating there often!

I'm not kidding when I say I googled, best crab ragoons in Grand Rapids and thats what let me here. Six crab Ragoon's came in an order, with two sides of the sweet red dipping sauce. Online, the menu lists the price at 4.95 But they ended up being about $0.30 more. Not a big deal, but is still annoying when menu prices are in accurate. I also ordered one eggroll just to give it a try, which was $2.50. The crab ragoons had a really great taste to the cream cheese. Nice and crispy on the top, but not too much so. Not as sweet as other crab ragoons I have tried, which is a good thing! And lots of flavor. I thought the eggroll was very good too. It was not as flavorful as the crab ragoons but it was a good size, thicker than other eggrolls and nice and crispy on the outside, while still maintaining a soft center. The young guy working the cash register was extremely nice. The interior smelled pleasantly like tea, and I did notice that they had alcohol. I would be willing to come back to try some of their main dishes, the pictures of the egg drop soup it looked impressive. However, I do think the prices are a little steep, so I would probably want to come for lunch and take advantage of of their lunch specials. During Covid-19 we have gotten carry out from Golden Wok several times, and with every meal we're glad we did. The food is excellent, good quality, and economical. Best of all, the younger guy and gal who seem to be working each time I go in for my pick-up are genuinely glad to see me and very grateful for my business. My husband got a lunch take out the other day and loved it so we took the family and dined in. Food was delicious! Egg rolls were not greasy and was made with cabbage and shrimp and chicken. My husband got the sweet and sour chicken. Sauce was great. Egg drop soup had flavor and had more than just eggs in it if that's what you like. I don't like egg drop soup and I thought this one was delicious and would definitely order it for myself next time. I got the Dragon Phoenix Chicken. It had chicken and shrimp with vegetables. The sauce was seasoned well. Next time- I will ask for a little more sauce just because there wasn't enough there for my rice. They Brought out fortune cookies and almond cookies with our bill. Well, thus was a thoroughly disappointing meal. No napkins. We got one when we asked. Egg roll was very brown (almost burned) and flavorless. Food (mine and my wife's entrees) were tasty at all. This is going to sound odd starting off a restaurant review, but its the first thing I think of when I go here. This establishment has the cleanest restroom I've ever been in. It always smells like they just cleaned it before I walked in. The basins sparkle as well as all the other fixtures. The reason I mention this is because if they care that much about a bathrooms cleanliness, the kitchen has to be clean too. This place is within walking distance to work and we go often. The food is always hot and the staff is always friendly. It is your typical Americanized Chinese food, but that doesn't mean it isn't tasty. You get a lot of food for the price. You get soup, tea, egg roll, crab cheese or chicken wing, with your entree. All for under $7. Always a nice visit. read more
