Unethical billing and impossible cancellation - others, speak up I joined Gold's Gym on a month-to-month membership in October 2024 and soon tried to cancel. There was no option in the app, no email support, and no response to repeated calls. I was medically unable to visit in person, yet that was the only method they allowed for cancellation. Despite never using the gym, they continued to charge me and added late fees until the total reached $260, which was then sent to a debt collector. This is deeply unethical. If you've experienced anything similar, I strongly urge you to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org). Businesses like this shouldn't get away with taking advantage of customers, especially when accessibility and basic communication are ignored. read more

I was just treated horribly and I believe it was racially motivated. I checked in and began to set my equipment up and a lady from the front desk. NOT the instructor comes up to me and only me and tells me that bc I did not register I could not take the class. Meanwhile, I am looking at two people that did not register but were in the class. This location and downtown one are my favorite ones, always clean, well maintained,they have everything bodybuilder needs and staff is always helpful and friendly, I used to go to other gym before much bigger one, but they kept bumping up the price , so I joined Gold's Because it's convenient and 3 times cheaper, much happier here. read more

I love this gym, it's big and spacious, with all the equipment I need. The latter is taken care of, sanitation stations all over the place, people use it after each use. I don't use the showers here, but the changing rooms and bathrooms are always nice and clean. I don't take any classes, but they do offer quite a few for those who are interested. I love Cardio Cinema! However, there are only 4 treadmills and one of them has had an out of order sign on it for over a month! One of the other treadmills is so old that it's dangerous for anything above a walking pace. The free weights in the studio area need to be replaced as well. They are ripped, torn and you can't even read how much weight you are working with. The front desk is very nice. I would probably give one star if not for them. On the other hand, if Golds can update their equipment, I would bump up to 4 stars. read more

Not only is it an insanely busy gym, but good luck getting a squat rack, especially on the weekends because of people like this. This girl has been on this squat rack for OVER AN HOUR. And there's only 4 squat racks in this gym. Not to mention the older, stuck up people who are in such a rush to be at the gym that they are rude about others having a certain amount of sets to do. First things first, this gym is not really that douchey at all. The name and image alone kept me away for a long time - just yuck. But I'm so glad I quit Life Time and came here. I LOVE this gym. Here's why: The set-up/layout. Why can't other gyms be more like this? I can get in and out of anywhere without feeling like I am on display. The layout is done in such a way that you don't have to parade in front of anyone to get anywhere and you have lots of privacy - it's pretty damn impressive actually. The people. Wow, the employees here are super nice and engaging. Even the Manager is helpful and easily available. The clientele - friendly and respectful. The sauna. Women only - not mixed with hairy sweaty dudes. Ick. The hot-tub. Even though it's placed next to the men's locker room and not the women's, it fabulously has jets that will knock you on your ass! The cardio cinema. I can huff and puff and fall all over the place while I struggle and no one can really see me because the cinema is a private sectioned off room where the lights are dim and everyone is focused on the movie playing. It's super clean! The price. It's 1/2 of what I was paying at Life Time. Yes, I have to bring my own towel but that's worth an extra $40 a month. (I do miss the eucalyptus steam-room though.) Unfortunately they tell you one thing and then back track and say they can't honor what they said. Very irritating. I was going to become a member here but both their sales advisor and general manager mislead me about a promotion to prepay for an annual membership at X price with 0 signup fees and 0 ongoing annual maintenance fee. When I went to go sign up (within the time period they said it was valid for) they back tracked and said o no it's not X, it's Y, sorry we were wrong about the price lol. I passed on the opportunity as it was not what they told me and they basically wasted my time. Flip ahead a month later I pop in to see if they have any other promotions and want to help make me a member. Now, not only did the price go up but they would not honor any 0 signup fee and/or 0 annual maintenance fee. Get the heck out of here. Go to Costco and get yourself a 2 year membership discount for 24 Hour Fitness which brings it down to $19/m, more than half the price of this Gold's; with no maintenance fee. Very irritated and can't stand when people waste my time or give me the corporate bs answer instead of thinking outside the box and trying to make good on what they told me versus sliding over a rate sheet on the desk. read more

That's really nice to yelp is trying to give you an excuse not to follow state guidelines. Social distancing there is non-mask wearing is ridiculously not happening. People are coughing sneezing and not wiping down equipment. The front desk person is a complete moron this place does what they want and run stings the way they won this is the reason why my membership has been canceled and then move to LA fitness as they seem to care a lot more about their members. Cancelled my membership by having my trainer actually fill out the form to get it right. Didn't matter - they still charged me another $300+. Showed them the text message from the trainer where he says 1) the screw-up was at Gold's end and 2) I was not entitled to more sessions. They don't care - won't give me the refund and refused to provide training sessions. I wish I had done research before joining. Gold's (owned by the same company as Omni Hotels) has an F rating from the Better Business Bureau. read more

PLEASE AVOID THIS GYM LOCATION This is the worst gym location I have ever visited. They just know how to get money out of their customer's pocket. Horrible staff and absolutely no professionalism. I had to cancel the gym membership as moving out of town. Reached out over an email and theh said there is 30 days written jotice even though they advertise "NO COMMITMENT". I did that and cancelled the membership. After few days, I contacted the facility about the false charge on my account. I figured the card in file was wrong and they never updated it. Anyway I had to pay $20 extra. And i sent them email back saying "rescind the membership". But after that email they reinstate the membership. I think they should take english classes, as they can not tell difference between rescind the membership and rescind the cancellation request. The branch manager won't attend any phone calls as she knew it was her mistake and willingly avoid phone calls and ask some other front desk staff to ignore my conversation. When called the customer service number, they said you need to contact branch manager. This is worst service I ever had. I would recommend please avoid this location, they are just hungry for money. Gold's has dropped the ball when it comes to COVID-19. The city of Austin (Travis Co) has enforced the wearing of mask! Some of us take this seriously, others do not. A business does not, should not have a option. It's as if they are scared to enforce it. I visited Golds on Anderson and there were people all over the gym not wearing mask. Every now and again an employee will announce that mask are required, but they don't actually enforce it. My wife and I canceled our memberships today. read more

I went in and canceled my membership just before moving away and didn't know they continued to charge me the next several months. Only 2 rowers and typically 1 doesn't work. Rowers should be moved to entry side rather than theater side to catch a little more fresh/cool air and to just switch it up a bit. Early morning music stream should be a little less hip-hop, a little more Armadillo/ACL-radio style since early morning crowd tends to be a bit older. STOP cramming FOX & Friends down members throats by playing it on no less than 4 tv's with CNN on only 1, maybe 2. If you're going to include partisan news, then include MSNBC on a couple as well. That said, would rather see local stations for all news, that way there's less right-wing propaganda/distortions/agenda. Not everyone in Austin leans right. Front desk manners in the afternoon could be a little more friendly. read more

Pros-They have good and plenty of different instruments, trainers are helpful, different sauna for men and women,clean bathrooms. This gym is decent if it is all you have but I cannot understand why someone would go to this gold's gym when Fitness Connection is 2 minutes from this location. This gold's is clean but they only have 1 version of every weighted machine so if you go during a peak time you'll have to wait for someone to finish or you can ask them to join in. Not only does this location have older machines and a lack there of but the gym is also pretty dim lit. Fitness connect on Lake Creek is right down the road, they have multiple versions of every machine, they keep the gym clean as well, presentation of the gym is much more motivating, and they also have 2 basketball courts. I cannot understand how this Gold's still gets business unless people need the access to other Gold's around town. This Gold's is a minimalist gym compared to some of the others and that may be due to the space they're confined to although other gyms like Big Tex and Lift ATX are much better at making use of the space they have and offering a better gym vibe. read more

This is the worst Golds gym i have ever been to. I've been a Golds member for a long time. I pretty much have to be the gym police by telling people who haven't a clue on Gym etiquette. The managers and sales manager just sit behind their computers. Never do i see employees wiping down machines there nor walking around enforcing rules like. Wearing shoes!!! I got kicked out for telling another member to put shoes on because, 1) It's a safety issue, and plus it's just nasty. Anderson Mill Golds Gym is decent if you want to peacock yourself in your color coordinating outfits. Golds gym has went down hill from past years. No one is serious. Have been working out here for 3 years but recently the gym has gone downhill especially in terms of cleanliness. There are dirty/used paper towels everywhere. Equipment is out of order and has prolonged times for repairs. Bathrooms are disgusting. The only saving grace is the staff/trainers. The gym really needs to be cleaned on a more regular basis including the weekends. read more

This is one of the better gold's I have been to in the area. I used to go a few times a week, and the equipment was in working order, the locker rooms were clean, the gym didn't have a bad odor, I was never bothered by any creepy men, and the grunting was kept to a minimum -none of which is true for the other gold's I've been to. I ended up having to cancel my membership (which was much easier than it used to be when you basically had send a letter, a DNA sample, your first born child, and a singing telegram) This time I just had to sign a form and that was it. read more

Then Covid...so figured no problem...they are closed....got an email from them in May which stated they were re-opening and they were asking members to sign an "updated Code of Conduct". I never signed, figuring I'm not coming back. They send me an email in September saying my membership dues were past due. Tried to call Corporate and was on hold for over 45 minutes!!!!! to a line that disconnects when you are 2nd in line.....now I am getting collection calls from this outfit. Terrible customer service! Tried freezing my membership when I was 6 months pregnant and I'm still fighting with them and my baby is 3 months old! We wanted to freeze our acct so we gave them a $100 and expected them to send it to corporate. Well, that never happened and they continued to charge us. I contacted customer service and faxed our copies to no avail. We decided to go ahead and cancel our memberships and once again we're in the same situation. I appreciate that they have a separate sauna for men and women. The pool is great. The equipment is all you need to get toned and fit. Over all this gym was great. The monthly charges can be lower. I am looking to rejoin soon. Had to leave due to a job change and a fractured ankle. Sign up was a little frustrating the first time at the Cedar Park location so I always went to the Anderson Mill/I83 gym and liked it. so I will see what the sign up is like at this location. read more

Kudos: The equipment in the facility is nice, as it is still fairly new. The gym is kept pretty clean. 4 Stars for that. Complaints: Rude management. Just outright poor customer service. I renewed my membership, paid out a year in full, and the guy didn't even bother to offer a thank you. All I got was a cold, deadpan stare... Like he was doing me a favor. The management at Lakeline is like that too. Just stuck-up and rude for absolutely no reason. The Burnet location is GREAT though. Next time, I'm taking my membership to 24.., where they are friendly and I don't feel like I'm being judged for lack of steroid use. Also, womens locker rooms- BEWARE of the showers. There is no water pressure, & it's lukewarm at best. It took me double my normal time to wash my hair. Half of the sinks always seem to be broken. The "stretching" area only fits four. This gym is way sexier than my regular gym in Cedar Park. The cycle studio is gorgeous - small but they cram a lot of bikes in there, and they're brand new ones. There are also three big screen TVs with various bike trail views, like along the coast in Cali and stuff, as if I could pretend for even a moment that I'm anywhere other than a dark room in a climate controlled gym wishing I was dead, or maybe just skinny enough not to have to frigging kill myself on a spin bike anymore. There's tons of cardio here. I can't speak to the free weights and weight machines, because I get my lifting from Body Pump and that's all. And speaking of, the group ex studio is nice, but seems kinda small for such a big, new gym. Locker rooms are big and nice, but I don't use them for anything other than a locker. I'll still go to Cedar Park more often, because it's closer, but this place has different class times that are convenient, so i'll defs be hitting it up more. If I have to die on a bike, I guess it's nice to have a really nice bike in a fancy studio. read more
