Comfort food... If you're ever in Manoa you must check out this cozy gem located just before the Marketplace between FHB and BOH where they do have a few free parking space is always appreciated in this area. Anytime of the year though when it gets a bit chilly it's gonna be Won Ton Mein time along with my jet lag it was something that really worked for me. With food allergies I asked if there was any shrimp in their won tons which they didn't is nice to know and that they had sriracha, chili sauce and mustard right on the table so that you don't need to ask or to share with another table is very nice and that they bring you some hot tea makes it a very comforting meal to enjoy at your leisure. They do have quite a bit or large round tables to easily fit multiple larger parties and their own restroom as well are all great qualities, I was there for late lunch/early dinner hour so the dining room was empty but not short on constant flow of takeout order keeping this cute small local biz steady. My boyfriend picked up a Chinese chicken salad and crispy gau gee for us. At first glance, the salad already didn't look very appealing, but I took a bite anyway--and it was overwhelmingly salty. While I was drinking some water and trying the gau gee, my boyfriend found a huge chunk in the salad. At first we thought it was styrofoam or a shrimp chip, but when it broke in half in his chopsticks and he tasted it, we realized it was literally a block of salt. It seems like they tossed the salad in dry seasonings and salt, then threw the toppings on without adding any dressing at all. The lettuce tasted like basic bagged greens, and the chicken seemed like plain rotisserie chicken. It was a complete waste of $15. We were just hoping to enjoy a nice lunch at the dog park, but we'll definitely never go back to Asia Manoa. To make things worse, the crispy gau gee tasted like it had been pre-cooked, left sitting, and then refried just to reheat it. The skin was tough and overly hard, like it had been fried twice. Asia Manoa Chinese Restaurant has been here a while, but none of us had written a review! With free parking and a convenient restroom, why haven't we been here before? We went at opening time (10:30am) and had no trouble with getting a table without a reservation. Luckily, we beat a large party that took two tables! Deborah got the Daily Dinner Special Plate and I got the Daily Lunch Special Plate. The main difference was that Deborah's plate included fried rice and chicken. My plate had white rice, beef vegetable noodles, sweet sour spare ribs, and fried won tons. I liked it! Some of everything! Iʻve heard from fans that Asia Manoa makes good deep fried oysters, as well. The food comes out hot and tasty, though occasionally a little heavy on the gravy for my liking. One downside: Asia Manoaʻs interior is not what it used to be, so perhaps does not draw the dine-in crowds that it once did in the early years, when it was a glossier restaurant, though it still seems to have a brisk take-out clientele. I had a heavy dinner the night before so they agreed to do separate meals. My wife and Nadine C ordered combo plates. I ordered a gau gee mein in soup. This turned out to be a good choice for me. The soup was light and tasty. Noodles were cooked perfectly. The gau gee was average. The two ladies enjoyed their meals. No complaints. The service was friendly. We've picked up from Asia Manoa three times now, and it's quickly become our go-to spot for quick, local Chinese comfort food. The lunch combo specials A and B are a great value and always satisfying. We've also tried the crispy gau gee, string bean with minced pork, sweet & sour pork, and beef chow funn with black bean sauce--every dish has been flavorful and consistently well-prepared. One thing to note: the ambience inside is always dark and quiet. They usually leave the air conditioning and lights off, so it can feel a bit eerie--when we first went to pick up our order, we honestly thought the place was closed. But once you get past that initial impression, the food is reliably delicious and definitely worth the stop. Parking's a breeze, with a few spots right out front and more off to the side. The honey walnut shrimp is good, different from others not sweet which we like, also we usually get the garlic shrimp fried rice. A group of 10 of us went to lunch to celebrate a co-worker's retirement. The menu has many food dishes to choose from and is great for family style eating. However the combination plates make it very easy to choose from and the amount of food is plenty. The food itself is tasty. Our server was prompt and efficient and appeared very serious. I think their rice soup/porridge/jook may be their best offering in my opinion! Very smooth and flavorful. I can taste the subtle ginger. I've had both the chicken and the ground beef, I think I like the beef one better. Good for two adult portions per order. If I got sick and wanted porridge again I'd definitely order from here! Their fried rice is ok, as is their egg fu yung. The choy sum with oyster sauce is a good volume, but the second time we ordered for takeout, there were more stems than leaves, and some of them look yellowed. 3.5 stars. We have been coming to Asia Manoa for many years. After the pandemic, we have focused on doing take out as our family has changed. Our most recent experience was very good & very helpful. We needed 2 plates less than half an our to closing. Unlike all other restaurants we called, they said come over, but come now. The food was hot and our guests devoured the food. We also like the fact that we can get vegetarian food, not just Jai or cooked Choi Sum. While we have not dined in at the restaurant in years, the take out has been consistently good and we plan to continue eating here. read more

We were seated and had to wait quite a while, their telephone was ringing off the hook and people were queued to pick up their take out orders We waited close to 30 minutes before our dine in order was taken. In the past, when we traveled to Honolulu for vacation, we often had dinner at this neighborhood Chinese restaurant for a high quality, inexpensive, meal. Today (3-3-2026), we stopped by this restaurant and were shocked at how this restaurant has deteriorated. The parking lot is dark. There were old beverage boxes piled at one corner of the restaurant. There was an acoustical ceiling tile ready to fall down. The pendant lights are dusty and appear dirty. The air conditioning ducts are dusty or taped over with plastic wrap. The restaurant sign was not lite. From the outside, the restaurant did not appear to be open. The interior of the restaurant was dim. The table was set haphazardly. The inside of the restaurant appears to be in disarray with boxes, kitchen utensils, and dishes placed in the corners of the restaurant. One of the servings spoons on the table was greasy. We ordered greens beans with pork, hot pot with Chinese Sausage/cabbage/mushrooms/chicken, seaweed soup with fish fillets, and pork hash with salted duck egg. The food was tolerable at best. The soup was too salty and the green beans with pork had too much cornstarch gravy. The bathroom reminded me of an outhouse "port-a-potty." This place is a disaster. Eating in this restaurant is akin to eating inside a recycling center!! We won't be returning to this restaurant. read more

I tried a bunch of options, they were sold out of fried oysters but we got honey walnut shrimp (my staple and how I judge every Chinese restaurant...and it was so good! nice and hot/fresh with a great flavor), garlic egg white chicken fried rice (heavy garlic and egg, yum!), spicy eggplant with pork (great savory flavor), curry seafood chow fun (all words in that dish sound delicious, came with fish, squid and shrimp). We always get great service from this friendly and chill family restaurant. I am not always the biggest fan of fried food but their salt and pepper shrimp here is my favorite!
