I went to celebrate my birthday but the experience was horrible, the hostess to start with didn't not even smile, put the water on table without offering ice, they never refilled the water either, the waiter took the order when the food was deliver to the table never came to ask how was it? Very poor service, the food is very expensive and bad quality as well, I asked for a calzone which is supposed to be made with ricotta cheese but was made with mozzarella instead. When I mentioned something he said ah ok. And left. For sure I will never ever will eat there and I won't tell my friends to go there. The food is good & the prices are just right. This could be a regular spot but the service is TERRIBLE! Ive dined in three times now & each time there hasn't been more than three tables in the whole restaurant yet you can't get the server to the table with out asking the bar tender to send one over. On my last visit the server took 10 minutes to greet us & take our drink order. The wine & soda ordered never came out even after reminding him & when the food was ready our server was outside "on break". After a few minutes of our food getting cold the bar tender brings us out luke warm pizza. After spreading the word about the terrible service I've had at least 4 friends say they had the same experience. Try it for take out because dining in is a joke! read more

Horrible!! I would have given them a zero star rating if possible. Orderd delivery through hungry buff food took well over an hour for a fairly small order, spegetti and gluten free penne pasta with sausage and mushrooms. We were excited to have a gluten free Italian dish, unfortunately the dish tasted awful!!!! Tried to stomach a couple bites and doctor it up with seasoning and extra sauce. One of the worst take out experiences I've had in Boulder. I should've come to Yelp before ordering here, because this seems to have been an issue for a while. The woman who greeted me was very unfriendly and hardly said a word to me. The carbona was very average and tasteless, and the noodles were awkwardly thick. The garlic bread, though, was borderline insulting. It was almost entirely unbaked and was completely soggy to the point that it felt wet. For the astronomical prices they are charging, the food falls miles short of being adequate. Extremely disappointed in my experience with Gondolier. read more

Well, I'm so so sorry, but I believe this restaurant has gone downhill since its earlier inception here in Boulder. I know food is expensive these days, especially in Boulder, but $13.95 for a mediocre sized serving of lasagna which was mediocre, without any frills (no garlic bread, nothing) is not okay with me. Lasagne itself wasn't to my taste buds either, had some funny cheesy stuff which I assume was parmesan but looked like cornmeal inside. I feel bad leaving this review, but . . . . perhaps go in and judge for yourself. read more

Gondolier is back!!! Fresh salads with lots of options, same great Pizzas. I had the short ribs with polenta which was a generous portion. The meat was good and so was the polenta. I also had some minestrone soup which was very good and the garlic braids are delicious. My husband had vege lasagne, the pasta is house made , which had squash and carrots, there wasn't too much cheese. So glad to have the Gondo back and now closer to home. Great Italian lunch for the whole family. We were on a road trip to Rocky Mountain National Park and found it by accident. The sausage and pepper sub was spicy and perfect. My wife had the crab cakes and they were as good as the ones she has in Maryland. Both kids enjoyed their meals. A must stop place if passing thru Boulder. read more

I went for lunch and ordered the Shrimp Penne Arribiata. The sauce was ok and a bit spicy, as it should be. The Penne was horribly overcooked which, to me, is a mortal sin for a restaurant to make. No bread, no salad, and the price was quite high for what I got. The service was even worse. I had to chase down a waiter to tell him I wanted to order some dessert. He walked by me a couple of times and consciously averted looking at me. Personally, this has been the worst dining experience I've had in Boulder and I'm really sorry I went there. However, I'll never go back unless I want some really bad 'italian' food. read more

We love the food at Gondolier. It's a very special restaurant to us, as we both had our first date and got engaged here (at two of the previous Pearl St. locations). I came here for unlimited spaghetti nights quite often through grad school. It's a great deal! No problem with the food, but since they have moved to the latest location, we have had issues with customer service both in person at the restaurant and when we've gotten takeout. Our takeout orders have been messed up quite a few times. We get the food home and realize something is missing or is totally different than what we ordered. This happens much more frequently than it should. Our last experience in person at the restaurant was disappointing as well. I don't remember our waiter's name (probably a good thing for him) but we were constantly in disbelief the whole time at his rude comments and responses to our requests. It was kind of entertaining, but obviously not in a good way. Something was different about the spicy sauce I usually get (not as spicy as usual), so I asked to make sure it was in fact the spicy marinara. He got really defensive about it and said that was the only one, and I could add pepper flakes to it if I wanted. It had me wondering what happened to "the customer is always right"...no apology, not helpful about fixing it, his attitude was more like nope you're wrong, too bad for you, this is what you get. We also wanted to order coffee with our dessert - I wanted regular and my husband wanted decaf. Our waiter asked us if we could just decide on one so he wouldn't have to make both. This guy was definitely not a people person, which I feel is kind of an important personality trait for waitstaff. We'll still go to Gondolier because it's special to us and we love the food. I'm hoping the next time we go in person that we'll have a much improved customer service experience because that was a little discouraging. Also hopefully their takeout order accuracy will improve. I would really like to be able to give a higher rating! All that said, I love their homemade pasta, and the sauce is delicious. My favorite is the mix of olive oil/garlic sauce and spicy marinara. Ravioli is great, too. I like trying their desserts and drink specials when we go in person to the restaurant. read more

Couldn't even finish the meal. We order take out for Lasagna and Chicken Parmagiana they were sloppily prepared and the portion was small for 12 bucks we paid. The sauce appeared to be watered down and the meal it self was cold. We had to reheat it in the mircowave when we got home. In the end, we just tossed out the meals. read more

I hate to write this review but the service here is so consistently poor that I feel compelled to write it. Side note: I wrote a poor review of this place once before after a horrible service but later took it down and have since been here multiple times. I like the food and overall atmosphere for a good meal - nothing fancy or amazing but it's totally solid. I love their grilled salmon dish and also that they offer veggie noodles for any pasta dish. But the service is consistently lacking, to say the least, and after our last meal my family agreed that enough was enough. We came in on a weekend night that was busy at first but emptied substantially while we were there. I came in with my husband, mother, and four-year-old daughter. We waited about an hour for our food - the table next to us was seated about a minute before us and they had already eaten, left, and their table cleaned before we got our meals. I would hope that a family restaurant would be more mindful of patrons with small children who are hungry, antsy, and eventually for us, past their bedtime. It was clear after waiting 45 minutes that our meal hadn't even started cooking because the server came over and said, "I'm sorry but you should know that your meals are going to be several more minutes." Meanwhile, we had watched order after order after order go out the door for take-out/delivery while we sat and waited. And waited. I understand that restaurants get busy, but it seemed that our meals had been forgotten. And I would contend that in-house patrons should be given slight priority over phone orders. Nothing was done to accommodate - nothing offered, comped, not even a roll brought to our daughter. When the bill came and we saw nothing had been taken off, my husband asked what had been the hold up and the server had no answer. She spoke with the manager - who surprisingly never once came over - and then offered us dessert (as if we wanted to be there with my young daughter even LONGER), and after we declined, took off $7.90 from our $80 tab. That wouldn't even cover a glass of wine. Pathetic response on behalf of our server and the manager. I don't expect a graveling apology, but the server should have checked in sooner, and it would have been nice if the manager had come over and offered (without us having to say anything) perhaps one of our meals comped or a reasonable discount on a future visit. $7.90 felt like an 'eff you.' As much as I enjoy their food, we are going to have to find another regular Italian restaurant for our family to go to. read more

Was in town to visit family and they recommended this place. We went for a late lunch, and loved it! Our waitress was awesome! Very attentive and beyond polite. I am not the biggest pasta fan, but did try the homemade spaghetti and ravioli that other family members got..only a few bites were filling! So good! I went for the Chicken Caesar Panini. Was expecting it to just be a small sandwich on bread. NOPE! Instead of regular boring bread, it was on their homemade pizza crust, fully baked and lightly grilled. I could eat that thing everyday and not get sick of it! It was huge, and just perfect. I want to know their recipe for that pizza dough!!!! It was almost like a fluffier naan. So good. I wish we had tried this place earlier into our trip so I could have had it a few times! Kudos! read more

"Gondo" is a very under-appreciated restaurant. It is perfect for those frequent nights where you just want to get a meal that will be great and not break the bank. Bonus points, there are always leftovers. They have so many classics but their home-made spaghetti and garlic knots are ridiculous. Their take-out still tastes great even if you're home 20 minutes later, and if you're dining in, they have awesome service and they know the right local beers to have on tap. read more

I have mixed feelings about Gondolier. On the one hand, they're nearby and serve a fantastic linguini with clams that never disappoints. On the other, they have occasionally poor delivery service (got a blue cheese pizza instead of pesto...) and I haven't gone back after two incidents of waking up in the night with nausea after eating there. I've been going to the gondolier at three different locations now. They had awesome muscles when they were on Pearl Street; not sure if that's on the menu anymore. I had their all you can eat pasta today, I can only eat one plate but it was ridiculously inexpensive. The pasta is much better than pasta Jay's it doesn't give me heartburn like pasta Jays does. The service and food here was great! Was quickly seated and soon after a super-friendly server arrived. The server was great and made sure our appetizers came out first. The food was really great. The pasta was thick and wasn't some out of the box stuff. I had the fettuccine Alfredo and it was was great, but possibly could have used more cream/salt/flavor. The salads were great. We visited on Sunday night to the new location (finally) . Gondolier always delivers the classics. The caesar salad was tasty, as was the Chicken Parm dinner w/ a side of pasta. My son had the pizza from the kid's meal menu and he almost eat the whole thing. My Margherita pizza was alittle disappointing on flavor though. I love this place! My boyfriend and I tried it out one night because it was close to his apartment, and I'm so happy we did! We have been several times since. The staff is always incredibly friendly, and it has a wonderful atmosphere. The food is delicious (the garlic knots are to die for), and it is truly authentic Italian.
