When a customer's appointment cannot be honored because the store failed to have the order ready, the bare minimum should be clear communication, ownership, and urgency. I had to escalate the issue to Robert, a senior manager, who was finally able to provide a more realistic update and estimated the tire would be available around 10:00 AM-ish. I appreciate Robert stepping in, but it should not take escalation to get basic accountability. The issue is not only the missing tire. The issue is the breakdown in process: America's Tire confirmed my order. America's Tire confirmed my appointment. America's Tire sent an appointment reminder saying everything would be ready. Then America's Tire called the night before to say the order was incomplete. That is a failure in inventory control, appointment management, and customer communication. If a business is going to ask customers to order ahead, schedule an appointment, and follow specific arrival instructions, then the business needs to honor that process.
